New Players for Ajax

Just wanted to add that we did under sell players until Van Geel took over.
Zlatan and VD Vaart went very cheaply( incidently I think we get another £2m from Juve tomorrow with the remainder next August)
The bosmans of 2006 summer ie Trabelsi, Maxwell,De Jong( we got £500000 for him which was nothing)Pienaar must not be repeated but Grygera has now gone for nothing.(I believe he would have gone last summer but for Juve being relegated then he got injured early season for a couple of months)
Babel's price and Sneijder's are very good as both have gone to hugh clubs.Had Van Geel taken over a couple of years earlier then the Bosmans sales mentioned above would not have happened.
I think we will get good prices in future for KJH, Heitinga and Urby ,probably next summer. Maduro really is strange as at present we would get about 5m euros minimum but they have not extended his contact so come Jan. he will go for next to nothing.
The point of the above is to show that under Van Geel we will get good money for players but buying in I am not sure about.Luque is shown as unknown but could be about 7/8m euros which is a joke for an injury prone
near 30 year old.KJH was a bargin of course and I have a feeling we will
do well with Suarez.
Turning to our future our youth system contains nearly all Dutch kids which is great but there does not seem to be any goal scorers coming through.
Brouwer, last seasons leading A1 scorer joined Liverpool as we were not prepared to offer him a contract!!
Do you think we should be looking to include more foreigners in our youth squads ie look beyond Belgium for instance?? Most lads come from a radius of 30 kilometers from Amsterdam , perhaps this is not enough!

I think the youth systems needs to be reexamined. It produces too many ball jugglers and not enough match winners. Ajax is not a circus.
I think it was Ko who on AT5 once said that the youth system should concentrate on strength and fitness as well. Seeing that the likes of Brugge, Kopenhagen and Slavia seem to be running our players off the park all the time that would make sense.

Now this is a good example of what we should do...i believe Modric has a 10 !!!!! yeah 10 year contract with the club. We need to stop signing people for 3-4 years....we all knew Babel was going to be good, we all knew Sneijder was going to be new yet we signed them and somewhat short contracts.....we should sign larger 6-7 year contracts when the player still wants to stay and while the top clubs are not hunting for them...i believe that is the key.K.J. Huntelaar schreef:Apparently ajax sent 22mio € offer for Modrič which was denied by dinamo Zagreb. According to croatian newspaper. He' s one of the greatest young players out there IMO, so...
BRING IT ON !!!!...

They probably knew that UEFA was going to set us up against them so they kept him just to screw us over. There is a UEFA conpiracy against Ajax, I am now convinced of it!Venezuelan Ajacied schreef:K.J. Huntelaar schreef:Apparently ajax sent 22mio € offer for Modrič which was denied by dinamo Zagreb. Definitely we should. All of our Belgians have been big busts including the current one in our squad who sent us out of the CL last year with an own-goal. We need to improve Ajax Capetown and scout better in Africa and S. America as well.SPL schreef:

Yeah, and that's a very good thing. No-one had ever heard of Litmanen, Chivu, Maxwell or Trabelsi when we signed them.Joeska schreef:Never heard of the bloke [...]Van basten schreef:Acording to ajaxnetwerk, we're interested in Yassine Chikhaoui (21). He plays in FC Zurich at the moment
For some reason our worst buys were expensive, established players: Kinkladze, Santos, Sonck - and a few others.
There are exceptions to the rule, of course, but in general we're better at finding quality nobody's than at luring established superstars to Amsterdam.

Still alive...
Although Zlatan and the Laudrups were well known players, i have to agree that we have to try and scout some unknown talent. The players mentioned above ( the unknown ones) were all diamonds in the rough, and that's what we should be looking for. Your average Messi is not heading for Amsterdam in a million years.Kowalczyk schreef:Yeah, and that's a very good thing. Edit: Looks good on youtube, but the past has proved that's absolutely nothing to go by.

When playing for Ajax Amsterdam, as a substitute he once received a red card after 19 seconds of playing in the match against PSV Eindhoven on December 19, 1996. That's still the fastest red card for a substitute in Holland.Kowalczyk schreef:Yeah, and that's a very good thing. I'm hopeful about this Yassine Chikhaoui bloke. He's actually been mentioned around some English teams and he's a relatively unknown quantity. What I like most is his size. He looks like a guy you'd take into a fight. We do need abit of physical presence.
I think in general, our scouting network has gone abit. Does anyone know what's happened in the last 5 years? Why aren't we uncovering foreign gems any longer? I have an Ajax DVD which shows some Ajax scouts going to Africa to scout for talent. Are we still doing that?
It's pretty obvious if we don't have the financial might to out bid Chelski, MU, Real and Barca, we need to have a top notch scouting network to bring in the Litmanen, Chivu, Trabelsi and Maxwell type players.
Here's looking forward to the next Litmanen!!

Tevez, Mascherano and Robinho don't really qualify as "scouted" players though, as they had already made it big on the international stage before they came to Europe.De Dominee schreef:Our scouting hasn't got worse (it already sucked). The bigger clubs are scouting better now and buying young players like Teves, Mascherano, Robinho, Messi, Fabregas etc etc etc younger and younger.
