Did anyone expect Maxwell not to leave ? This is getting really confusing ;)
By the way, I thought you said that Anastasiou would leave in January. Hopefully you were wrong, and that's the real breaking news : I will be able to get his signature after the training when I'm in Amsterdam next week.

I haven't heard anything, except (very) vague rumours that a return to Roda would be an option...

Nice conclusion to the Ajax-USA farewell report :

"I am proud to have played for Ajax for two and a half years," he said yesterday evening. And we were proud to have you here, Yannis. Thank you and good luck.
Appie, stay strong !

I love Yannis, he's such a legend. Really nice guy. And got some important goals while he was here too.

According to today's Algemeen Dagblad Sparta Rotterdam are about to offer him a contract. They are coached by Wiljan Vloet, who was Yannis' coach at Roda JC at the time. They are still in touch.

Would be a nice move for him.

And not too shabby a move for Sparta as well.

Good luck to the guy.

Not a done deal just yet, apparently... According to press reports ADO Den Haag are after Yannis as well.

We'll see what happens.

On Friday 28 April I actually posted that the above was a 'done deal', but it fell though at the last moment: Sparta couldn't afford his wages.

But now it's official: Yannis Anastasiou has signed a two year deal at Sparta Rotterdam. With the help of a few sponsors they have now landed the Greek striker after all.

We have updated the news report about the six Ajacieden leaving on a free transfer...
