You wouldn't believe it given the situation in the Eredivisie three months ago, but it's true: on Sunday 29 April, around 16:20 CET, Ajax might be the Dutch football champions of 2012.

If Ajax beat Twente and AZ drop points at Feyenoord (kick-off time also 14:30 CET), it's all done.

Otherwise... we will have to wait 'til May 2nd: VVV at home.

A small correction Menno on your statement that AZ has to drop points at Feyenoord for a title on 29 Apr 2012. This game must end in a draw, otherwise there is a gap of maximum 6 points between Ajax and Feyenoord and officially no title for us yet.

De boer should line up with enoh instead of janssen. Blind will need more cover against the threat of ola john, and janssen does not have the energy to provide this.

Disagree about Janssen. He has been an important contributor to our title run in. Some of the feelings expressed on this forum aside, I find that I am not alone in this assessment. He was voted MOtM by the fans watching the game a couple of games back, and in the last game, when some here thought he was so terrible, the watching fans voted him second to Boerigter (36% for Bo, 25% for Theo).

A successful team needs to balance youth with maturity and experience -- youth can crack under the pressure of a down to the wire title fight and make stupid mistakes -- experience on the field can steady the ship, and Janssen has provided that -- this should not be overlooked.

This is because the "fans" are not watching Vurnon Anita carefully enough. Did you see the two through passes that he made in the last match to send players in on goal (it's not his fault that they didn't finish the chances). His performance in each match you cite was so much better than Janssen that it's laughable. I'll be up front (as I was last year) that the €s we spent on Janssen were wasted. He's slow (and will be even slower next season), doesn't play defense, and even his vaunted free kicks have been useless this season. I did rate him decently in one match this season but that's about it.

Fans tend to be impressed by famous names. The truth is janssens perfomance was overrated. Like orange says, compared to anita, he brings little to our midfield dynamic. Having said that, one thing is for sure, there is little creativity to be found in the twente midfield of willem janssen, fer and brama. We have to be careful not lose the ball cause thats when twente can be most dangerous, with the speed of john, chadli and de jong. If we pick enoh, which obviously frank wont do, still he will ne to be very tidy with his passing.

I don't know too much about Schöne but I guess de Boer's plan for next season is to have a midfield of him, Anita and Eriksen.

I agree with Orange on this and have been saying this all season long. Janssen is not mobile enough for the football we play, too slow to cover and defends like my sister.

Even first half and it was good to see Van der Wiel redeem himself after some very poor defending. He really should be doing more overlapping when Ola John is on his side to keep him pinned back as he is Twente's most dangerous player. Janssen was a bit nervy on the PK and a stronger keeper might have saved that one. I still think he needs to come off for more mobility in the midfield. He just stands in the middle of the upper third of the pitch directing traffic but taking no part in the offense. Anita is having another good match but our back line has looked a bit disorganized at times. This is going to be a tough match to win and they will need to stay mentally alert the whole second half. Keep Ola John occupied and tire him out!
