Hey, I want in on that too! Happy birthday, Ko, and many happy returns.SE6Ajacied schreef:Well no one else has so I'll be the first to say Happy Birthday Ko (and before anyone thinks I've got an exceptionally good memory or anything I had a little help from another Website - one that I won't be using for much longer if they start charging from the 1st July.....)

Pretty certain it's true - think it's been on the TV News here as well and there's at least one group on there opposing it. I don't really care anyway as I don't use it that much.aveslacker schreef:Wut? Must be an urban myth.SE6Ajacied schreef:SPL schreef:

So if it's on the news it must be true, huh?SE6Ajacied schreef: Pretty certain it's true - think it's been on the TV News here as well and there's at least one group on there opposing it. I don't really care anyway as I don't use it that much.
I think in the case of Man U, the Glazers have always had the money. they are simply diverting cash from operating funds to their own purposes. It's not illegal but in my mind unethical. the Liverpool owners have fallen on hard times and their state is more perilous.SPL schreef:Man u debt is £700m
Arsenal about £400m
and Liverpool £300m
Arsenal's is a proper mortgage to cover the new ground the other 2 are simply because their American owners did not have the money to buy them so they obtained loans secured on the clubs.
NB.
Just to say that Administration is not Bankruptcy . Bankruptcy of course is an individual but a company is Liquidation . An Administration is where a firm of Accountants take over the running of a company as a going concern and run it until new owners take over. If in Portsmouths case no new owners are in place by May I would imagine that they will go into Liquidation and they would then ceased to exist like our poor little Haarlem.
PS Sorry if you all know that but thought I would clarify. Do you have this Administration in USA and Netherlands or do companies just go straight into Liquidation ie close down.???
Nice one - and an excellent excuse for me to post a similar photo. http://s322.photobucket.com/albums/nn40 ... 010165.jpgajaxusa schreef:Thought you fellas might enjoy this picture of my son Ryan, doing his homework. .
I have been through that for the past few years. I love the way they translate names of players.SPL schreef:In the last 3 months I have used Google translate to read what our dutch mates are saying and reading some dutch sites. Although the english translation does not always read right one thing amuses me .
Names are translated. Advocaat is called Lawyer and Siem is refered to as Young . Thoese are obvious.
But the reason for my posting is to ask why some clubs names are translated .
Groningen was translated as London.
de Graafschap Middlesbrough
And then the Irish
Omniworld Drogheda Unt.
AGOVV Shelbourne
and today Cambuur is shown as Sligo Rovers.
Now reading translations makes me abit of a sado ,( I am retired and had far too much time on my hands this winter ) but I do like reading mainly about the youth and who is coming through .
I can understand translating peoples names but the translated names for some of these clubs is weird and it does seem very odd giving 3 clubs Irish football clubs names.
I swear, this guy has a touch of Cruijff in him. :-)For the players, we all agreed - it was like lead was coursing through our veins, the heavy metal making neurons skip frantically from one thought to the next. There was no flow, nothing that connected the past moment to the present, the present to the new. Fragmented, unsure, questioning, we all reflected this condition.
The Lakers were a lot easier to like when Magic Johnson was running the show on the court. I can't stand Kobe Bryant. He is a good player, though.Dubbel schreef:NBA Finals time! Here's the essentials: A Guide to Hating the Celtics!![]()
If it's not enough then just remember, Lakers are like Ajax and the Celtics are like Feyenoord. Go P&G!

As for my MA work - it was about the language of polish football fans.
