Re: Former Ajax Players
On the Headline pages today 2 names both greats with Ajax ,first was Rep as posted on new players but the other was the Edwin van der Sar . He has been training with Fred Grim and the Jong Ajax this week before returning to Manchester. I believe his wife is getting better which is good news.
Re: Former Ajax Players
Heitinga had a great match for Everton today against Arsenal at the Emirates. Central defense and was never caught out of position, clearing a number of dangerous crosses. Ended up in a 2-2 draw as both Arsenal goals came off deflections. Our NT keeper Tim Howard would have likely saved one if not both had it not been for the deflection.

Re: Former Ajax Players
Watched the second half and Heits played well. A well taken goal by Steven Pienaar.

Re: Former Ajax Players

...and what about Wesley last night? Two goals from free kicks.....one, BRILLIANT....the other, powerful, but with the slightest hint of luck!!!
Lovely to see that smile again!!!

Re: Former Ajax Players
I noticed in a couple of recent games Evander Sno was only sub for Bristol City. The guy was a crap buy for us and I believe we are still payng some of his wages.
Re: Former Ajax Players
Did Van Basten transfer in anyone who has proven to be worthwhile? Sno, Oleguer, Sulejmani came in under him; were there a couple of others?SPL schreef:I noticed in a couple of recent games Evander Sno was only sub for Bristol City. Re: Former Ajax Players
the thing is though.. 90% of them looked good on paper or even for other teams!
Re: Former Ajax Players
Thanks, I forgot about these four. I guess of the seven that Van Basten brought in only Enoh has worked out. Aissati has been hurt too much and it's still not clear to me that he is the Sneijder replacement that we so desperately need.Cedric_AeF schreef:Wielaert, Cvitanich, Aissati, Enoh.

Daniel de Ridder has left Wigan on loan to Hapoel Tel Aviv. Good luck to him.
Rumours in england say KJH may be loaned out by Milan with Everton favourites over West Ham and Birmingham.
No offence but one year after leaving us he could be playing for one of those moderate teams. Still Heits and Pienaar are at Everton and given proper playing time , which Real and Milan have not done ,he will score goals.

Re: Former Ajax Players
I was at the Villa - Arsenal game yesterday and although he started well, Vermaelan took a very nasty looking injury and word is that he could be out for quite some time.
A real shame for him as he has been Arsenal's best defender this season by all accounts.

Had to rub my eyes in disbelief at the sight of Thomas Vermaelen playing, and scoring no less, for the Arse. Glad his injury wasn't as feared .

Re: Former Ajax Players
KJH scored 2 goals for Milan tonight . Good to see he actually got a full game for them at last and showed what he does best stick the ball in the net.
Hope he scores a few v Manu

Re: Former Ajax Players
No one has mentioed who is training with Jong Ajax for the rest of the season and has no club.
Andy Van der Meyde. If he does ok would it be worth giving him a short term contract ???
He cannot be worse than Kennedy and it looks like Rommendahl wont get a new contract ,according to one report I picked up on .

Re: Former Ajax Players
He can of course be worse than Kennedy and I'd rather keep Rommedahl if he has to be replaced by a player who failed abroad.SPL schreef:He cannot be worse than Kennedy and it looks like Rommendahl wont get a new contract ,according to one report I picked up on .

I've just read some minutes ago, that our former player Zoltan Varga died yesterday during a senior football match.. he was 65 years old.. i know he was not a remarkable Ajax player, but he is hungarian, and played for us for some games, and therefore I just wanted to share this with You..:(
I think many of You know him here..

Re: Former Ajax Players
After a glorious career in Eindhoven PSV have decided to say goodbye to the great Andy van der Meyde.
Van der Meyde came very close to making a first team appearance on at least one occasion.
