I'm a Philadelphia Phillies fan as baseball goes , but I saw how the club honored the memory of their dead teammate Nick Adenhart . Very classy !! You could see the emotion of his teammates too.

Thanks guys! I thought it was cool that they partied with (the late) Nick Adenhart's jersey, of course there are always those who think it inappropriate. F - them!

Is that the reason for the giant shirt? Have to admit, never heard of him of him or his team-great gesture though-respect for that.Dubbel schreef:Thanks guys! Ha ha ha, I think the 'giant shirt' could be due to the camera angle. Look at that bat boy holding the shirt, his hands are monstrous. Also, baseball shirts button down in the front so if a shirt is open it can get pretty wide on any day.SE6Ajacied schreef:Is that the reason for the giant shirt? Yeah-I forgot about the buttons at the front-think I've given the game away that I don't follow baseball-probably best if I stick to chatting about the footy only in future.....Dubbel schreef:Ha ha ha, I think the 'giant shirt' could be due to the camera angle. Usually for the past 9-10 years, all the Yankees fans usually fear an Angels comeback. But you guys just didn't have that.
Well, there's always next year. BTW, we are retiring Kate Hudson's number

The only good that can come of this in my opinion is that we can finally put to bed the absolutely stupid notion that A-Rod can't perform in the clutch.Amol schreef:Wow!! What happened to you guys? Well he wasn't really performing in the playoffs. I'm not saying that the losses from the past few years were his fault. But, he was among the many non-performers. Teixeira is being pretty useless with the bat too, but he's got insane defensive skills. Plus I'm sure he'll bring his bat along soon.aveslacker schreef:The only good that can come of this in my opinion is that we can finally put to bed the absolutely stupid notion that A-Rod can't perform in the clutch.

Re: Grab Bag Of Random Posts
It's called a small sample size. Plus he did just fine in the playoffs against the Yankees. A-Rod is possibly the best player of his generation. Far, far, far, far better than Jeter.Amol schreef:Well he wasn't really performing in the playoffs. I'm not saying that the losses from the past few years were his fault. I meant to say that he wasn't performing in the playoffs for the Yankees(although he did just fine in 2004). I never said that he was better or worse than Jeter.aveslacker schreef:It's called a small sample size. Plus he did just fine in the playoffs against the Yankees. In any event since we are on the topic, here is what both of them have done in the division series till 2007 -
Jeter has batted .354, with 70 hits, 9 home runs and 21 RBIs over 12 years.
A-Rod has batted .258 has 24 hits, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs over 7 years.
A Rod has kind of done a 180 this year. I am glad we have both of them on our team though.
Here are the stats -

Re: Grab Bag Of Random Posts
Again, the playoffs are inherently a small sample size. Of the roughly 10,000 career at bats Jeter has had, about 600 of them have been in the postseason. Furthermore, A-Rod still has equivalent, if not better, postseason numbers. A-Rod's OBP is about 20 points higher (.408 - .381) and his slugging percentage is significantly better (.570 - .477).Amol schreef:I meant to say that he wasn't performing in the playoffs for the Yankees(although he did just fine in 2004). Look at their career numbers. Ther are similar in batting average and OBP, but A-Rod's OPS and OPS+ are massively higer because A-Rod, while hitting for almost the same average as Jeter, actually gets on base slightly more and has much more power. He is simply a better batter than, basically, all but five or ten players in history.
No disrespect intended towards Jeter (although I get really tired of how the media fawns over him). Jeter is an excellent player. He's just not in the same league as A-Rod.

Same here; I've got an iPhone, and aside from the pain of having to zoom in drastically to make things legible, the "old" (current) site seems to work just fine. However, I've added ajaxtalk.nl/mini to my iPhone bookmarks. (Is the only difference the absence of graphics, i.e., banner across the top, avatars, "new" post notifications, etc.?)SE6Ajacied schreef:Oooh, I'll try that.
