just rumours 'bout henrique (barcelona, last year on loan at leverkusen: we offered 8 millions for this guy some time ago), prahic (varteks, croatia) and renato civelli free transfer from olympique marseille..I would choose the first one, of course only on loan, and alves for the striker position. definitely.

Don't get me started... You know what annoys me? After the PSV game (in which we conceded four goals and looked like shit defensively) everybody was talking about defenders. Against Sparta we kept a clean sheet, but failed to score - and there you go: everybody's talking about the fact that Ajax really need an extra striker. That's how simple it is: one game, one result and the whole focus shifts from defense to attack. In the press and on the average discussion board it really is that simplistic, and I just hope that Ajax's vision goes a bit deeper than that (sometimes I fear Ajax's philosophy is just as fickle and simplistic and ad hoc, though).

Truth is: we need a good central defender and a centre forward. I've said that the whole summer. I hope Ajax are honest enough to admit it to themselves.

Are this purchases (striker/defender) still dependent on selling/loaning out first team players first?

I thought I read that last week, but haven't seen much in regards to that from Ajax since then. I'd prefer Alves. He's the youngest of the three and I can see PSV not wanting to sell Koevermans to us unless it's for twice what he's worth. It helps them more if he's unhappy on their bench rather than playing for us. Not sure if Blackburn wants to sell either, but I imagine that may make McCarthy a more difficult target.

Would agre with Ko . After the Sparta game suddenly its the attack but surely that was just one of those games. Last season at Twente ,before Christmas, we defended for 90 mins never had a shot and scored 2 goals . The first was Martina crossing into the area and I think Lindgren scored late on when Twente were throwing everything forward.

Our defence was ok yesterday because Sparta put 11 men behind the ball and defended. Our attack is ok just wants another striker but the defence is still crap.We need a defender more than a forward

Too bad Oneywu decided to go with Milan. Looks like he's destined to a lot of time sitting on the bench after last weekend's match. He would have had much more of a workout in our backline than he will get there. Could hurt his US NT performance.

obviously hed be the instant marshal with us, but i dont believe hes gonna sit all year... it's been one game for a club that will play 50 and he doesnt speak the language yet

a norwegian report says we are now looking at brann attacker erik huseklepp, who is also being watched by blackburn and sevilla

he is over 6 ft tall, can play any position up top, though he is usually used wide
