Interesting that Rommedahl was dropped from the selection. I wonder if Jol had the same opinion of his play on Sunday that many of us did. I guess Kennedy gets the start on the right wing. I hope we don't start Suarez. Would rather he rested.

Yeah we should rest some legs, bring in Donald for de Zeuw and use Sulejmani and Cvitanich up front, Super Suarez should take a little nap on the bench...Slovan are in shambles, our top priority should be to avoid injuries.

I see it differently. if we field ogararu and kennedy just near to the transfer deadline, maybe is because we have decided to sell someone else.
oleguer and silva, for example, plus sno. I state this because if I am not wrong, once they have played in Europa Cup they are not elegible anymore for european competitions, so also their value decreases and they should attract even less interest they are attracting now, which is next to nothing. maybe we are selling also cvitanich, according to some argentinian papers, but in his case playing in a continental tournament is not a problem.
rommedahl and aissati have just been given a rest.

The ramadan is indeed the reason why Aissati has been left out (this has been confirmed by Jol), but it doesn't necessarily mean that he will be rested for every game until September 21st. Ajax can afford it in this particular case (5-0 lead) and it's also a midweek game (and therefore Aissati's second game in a week's time). All of those factors combined led to this decision, which I find totally plausible.

Of note: Hakeem Olajuwon, the legendary center for the Houston Rockets (and, for the latter part of his career, devout Muslim) observed the fast during Ramadan, even during daytime playoff games. His career stats during that period are higher than those for non-Ramadan games.

Anyway: only 1,800 tickets sold for tonight's game (they don't really seem to believe in it anymore, whahahaaaaa ). The number of Ajax supporters in the away end will be bigger than I expected it to be: approximately 250.
