This may be the worst game I've ever seen Ajax play. Absolute chaos. Not even the resemblance of a game plan. And don't even start about the defense. I want my two hours back.

I want Ajax to enter some low division in England, where they'll write each week about the Great Ajax, the legendary team, and I want it intravenous. I don't care if it has nothing to do with reality.

Ajax give up so much space that a blind man could play a killer pass beyond/through our midfield and defense.

A shocking performance; every bit as bad as the 6:2 from last season. Martin Jol has a hell of a lot to do to convince that he is something other than an old and fat version of Van Basten.

Well last season our defence was poor except Vermaelen so we have Atouba who was quite frankly shit and isn't a defender trouble is VdW is not a great defender and the second was woeful. Alderweireld is one for the future and wasn't that bad today compared with the others. Steks was at fault with the second but could not really fault him for the first . That leaves Wielaert . Can anyone here explain why this guy is playing for Ajax?

From what i have seen today Atouba and Wielaert are piss poor defenders and unless we buy someone we are not going to win anything.

The most worrying thing of the lot is that if you take Suarez out of the team we would be lucky to finish 4th .

Simons should have got ayellow for thta first half tackle and then around 70 mins he barged Suarez off the ball in the area i thought it ought to be apenalty and thus Simons should have been red carded.

Did we win even one ball in the air? Did we manage to make any decent link up to the midfield? Did we have more possession time than PSV? No to all three. this was the fundamental problem today. We know our defense is crap and I think Jol knows it as well. We rely on possession time to minimize the chances for screw ups and that was clearly not there today. We want a defender but where the hell are we going to get someone who is better than we have right now? There were only four players on the field today that would score above a five: Urby, Suarez, Alderweirld (5 only), and Stek. Every other starter was at 4 or less. If you look at the 3-4 tough saves Stek made, it certainly kept this from being like the match last Spring. He has every right to sue for non-support. Atouba looks like someone who was playing the very first match of his career. I hope (but am not optimistic) that this is not the way he will play the rest of the way.

I was just getting ready to write 'Brand new year -- same old shit.' Looks like you beat me to it. We can't blame the coach anymore -- how much of the same story no matter who the coach is does it take before the point sinks in. Nothing's going to change as long as we have a board that cares more about shareholder returns than it does about what Ajax football used to mean. Should lock the pack of them up in some dark dirty dungeon and throw away the key. I can never understand how -- season after season now -- these so-called small clubs are able to find - and sign - players that we never seem to be even aware of -- much less able to sign.

I do not think apart from the third goal that Steks was that bad.

Fucking hell, first game i can watch on tv and look what happens I must say thi is the first time Jol leaves me confused, i mean why change the formation and some players against one of the strongest teams in the eredivisie Why change the look of a winning team ????? You should never try to fix something that is not broken...Suarez was all alone up front, the midfield was out of sync and the defense..oh lord .

Why can't we do the same as Arsenal...a team we criticise greatly for the way that they take teenage kids, and families, from all over Europe and Africa, and them bring them up in "their new" country. Doing this allows them to get the best kids....if we only look 40 miles from the Arena, the kids could bike there every day!!!

It's about time that SERIOUS questions were asked about the scouting....other Dutch teams can pick up talent from all over Europe...have we got anyone out there???

The only bets I'm putting on for the near future is more than 2.5 goals....that's almost a sure thing!!!
