Ask the person if they can pick you up from a nearby Amtrak(train) station.Do you know the name of the town which you have to go to?

Re: Grab Bag Of Random Posts
I looked on the Greyhound website and found that the bus line has limited ( read ONE ) trip daily from New York Penn Station directly to Mt. Tremper. The trip is 380 miles and takes more than one day. I day , 1 hour, and forty - nine minutes to be exact. Is there a larger town or city nearby ?

I checked again and I can see a trip which takes 2 hours 49 minutes with 1 transfer. It shows up as 115 miles.Blind3 schreef:I looked on the Greyhound website and found that the bus line has limited ( read ONE ) trip daily from New York Penn Station directly to Mt. Tremper. You ARE right about the one trip though.
Re: Grab Bag Of Random Posts
The bus to Mt Tremper is at 7am from Penn Station and takes 2 hours 49 minutes.
The return bus is at 6:31pm and takes 3 hours. I have absolutely no idea why it is showing you something that drastically different.

Re: Grab Bag Of Random Posts
Okay, now I'm confused...
That service that takes you there in 2 hours and 49 minutes, is that Greyhound from Penn Station, or Trailways from Port Authority...?
Edit: Okay. Now I see: it's Greyhound. I can find the outbound trip (dep. 7:00 am, 2h and 49m). But I can't select Mount Tremper as the place of departure, for the way back... Amol: can you tell at what times I can take a bus back from Mt Tremper to NYC the next day?

I think Greyhound probably outsources that trip to Trailways. It should definitely be from Penn Station either way.Kowalczyk schreef:Okay, now I'm confused...

Correction - It should be from Port Authority either way.
I think by default, the option is a one way trip. Make sure you select a two way trip. That way you get the return trip.

Re: Grab Bag Of Random Posts
Yo - this is Menno, live and direct from his hotel room on Broadway and 29th.
F**king SHIT weather, by the way. It's been raining for a couple of hours now, and the word 'raining' is the understatement of the year.
Anyway.
I have come to the official conclusion that the travel planner on the Greyhound website is crap. I went to Port Authority (Greyhound is in the basement over there), I asked for the options for Mount Tremper and guess what: there's plenty of buses. First one at 7:00AM, but I'm on the 9:30AM one - and there were several more that do not pop up on the website.
It's a piece of cake to go back on the same day (several buses after 5:00PM), but I decided to stay there for the night. I've never been to the Catskills before, I saw some images of Mt Tremper and surroundings and it looks like it's wonderful out there, so I'll spend a night at the Catskill Rose Lodge - and catch a buus back to NYC on Friday morning.
Oh yeah, for your information: Greyhound, Trailways and another operator called Peter Pan have indeed formed some sort of an alliance. It's pretty much one and the same desk at Port Authority. I got a Greyhound ticket, but my bus is in fact 'operated by Pine Hill Trailways', so you were right, Amol.
Thanks for your help.
Attention, attention, message for the Lord in heaven: please turn off the shower!

Hi, I just read that you're in NY. If you ever get the time, try doing some free walking tours of the city. Some are excellent and absolutely free! My favourites were the Lower East Village, Grand Central and Wall Street ones.

Menno's in NYC and I am in Barcelona. Ran into a college age kid wearing an Ajax shirt tonight. He pointed to the back of the shirt where he had number 14 and Cruyff on it and asked if I knew Cruyff. Told him I saw him play in the 1974 WC and he was stunned! Also had AFCA tatooed on the back of his neck. Cool World isn't it.

Wow! That is some experience!
I am still what you may call an armchair fan (of Barca) from a land far away in the Asian subcontinent.
And have yet to visit Barca, so I cannot say how jealous I am. I hear it's an amazing city, how are you enjoying it? I hope to visit it soon perhaps within a year or two.
Ofcourse all cules are touched by the Magic of Cruyff. Though I am an infant compared to you in matters of football, I'm a big Cruyffista myself. Watching him play always brings tears to my eyes. For me he is God. What he has given to us cules cannot be expressed in words. There is no way we can thank him enough....That you have seen him in front of your eyes must have been something else. I cannot even imagine it.
To show a little what he means to us, see this documentary about him called:

Great place to visit. We are here for a couple of more days and then down to Valencia before heading back to the states. Saw two more Ajax shirted kids on the Rambla today!! Barca is over in the states right now for friendlies so no chance to go to Nou Camp for a match. I don´t think Espanyol has any matches lined up either which is too bad. Stopped in at the Barca shop on the plaza and it was packed with everyone buying shirts. Within one day they had #9 shirts with Ibra´s name on the back ready for sale. I wonder if they knew something?Snyde schreef:Wow! That is some experience!![]()

Ah, yes. I hear so many great things about Las Ramblas...can't wait to get there. Even if the perikos were playing I doubt you'd enjoy watching them, they're quite horrible tbh.Orange14 schreef: Great place to visit. Regarding the shirt sales, I have a friend who stays in Barcelona and he told me they had stocked up a few days before the transfer was officially confirmed. It is assumed that Barca were sure to buy Ibra no matter what it took and Ibra had already agreed but since it was a swap the deal with Eto'o took some more time. (and cost us more money)
BTW Are you going to visit the FCB Museum? I hear it's quite an experience, even for the casual football fan. Other than that which areas will you be visiting? The works of Gaudi are a must see if you come to Barcelona from what I hear.
PS Did you know that the Indian National Football Team is there in Barcelona training in Masia and other facilities offered by Barca. Lucky buggers. Makes me wish I hadn't given up on football in school.

Saw a bunch of red shirted Liverpool fans this morning. Turns out there is a friendly this evening between Liverpool and Espanyol. Given who is playing, I am not getting anywhere close to that match!!!!
Too much possible danger! Funny with the Barca shirts; they want 71 Euros for them. I already have a long sleeve home shirt and was looking at the two away shirts. Turns out I can get them for much less back in the states through the BigSoccer shop. Got a Barca cap which is fine with me.

Don't even mention the shirt prices, that's just one Euro more than Ajax want for theirs. I have to admit though I did get one, the home shirt. It probably won't be out in the UK for a month or two and I definately won't be able to get the official name and number (De Zeuw since you ask) or the two stars and Eredivisie badge - becomming a bit of an annual ritual for me, getting a shirt at the Arena though on UK prices is a bloody expensive ritual.Orange14 schreef: Funny with the Barca shirts; they want 71 Euros for them.

They cost about the same in India too, I'm surprised you get them cheaper in the US, are they real?Orange14 schreef:Funny with the Barca shirts; they want 71 Euros for them. Last year ,I got an 08 - 09 Barca home with the name of my favorite non - Ajacied in world football , that would be Xavi , for sixty dollars through the Barca store.
If I had one wish , this isn't merch related, it would be that Ajax had their version of the Soci/Socio . I'd join in a heartbeat .Becoming a Barca Socio was $155 euros well spent ! Whether Ajax or Barca, I LOVE flowing , quick, attacking football !!
P.S. Menno , are you dry yet ?? Just wondering. Hope your trip and travel connections were a success despite the liquid sun .
We had four inches of rain since Friday where I am . The storms Friday and Sunday looked downright Biblical . Flooding ,hail , Tornado warnings yesterday
...uncommon for SE PA and northern Delaware, where I work.

Yes they are real and come with the official label. One reason for the lower price is there is no VAT from the Big Soccer shop. Don't know what the other reason might be but I've noticed all club and NT shirts are cheaper in the states than from the Euro source.Snyde schreef:They cost about the same in India too, I'm surprised you get them cheaper in the US, are they real?Orange14 schreef:Funny with the Barca shirts; they want 71 Euros for them. You can get exact replicas (fakes) for about 7 Euros in India, which are imported from Taiwan & Thailand. They are exact in the sense they have all the sponsors: Nike,TV3 and even the Liga LFP badge other than having the badge and names+numbers of players. Unfortunately, you only get the famous players and no keeper jersey. Finding the away ones is difficult as well.

They're much cheaper here in the UK too. Even the Niketown and Adidas stores on Oxford Street, London will "only" charge about £45.00 for AC Milan/Real/Barca etc shirts which is about 50 Euro's these days, compared to 70 Euro's a time in Holland. That's expensive for the UK too as Sports World will do most of the big European teams for about £35.00 (eg http://www.sportsdirect.com/Products/SD ... 79244.aspx)Orange14 schreef:Yes they are real and come with the official label.
