Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
It seems that Maarten was not at the first training with Jol. Any clue about his future with Ajax ?
Appie, stay strong !

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
No worries. He wasn't there because he's an Oranje international and since they played a few qualifiers they get an extra week off.philippe schreef:It seems that Maarten was not at the first training with Jol.
My prediction is that he'll get his spot back. The man himself has also said that last season now belongs to the past and can be forgotten. Time for a new start.Any clue about his future with Ajax ?

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Sorry for reawakening such an old thread
Stekelenburg has really shown his potential lately, he feels really secure in the air, with the feet, well I can't honestly find anything major wrong with him. At the pace he's been improving, do you guys think he will stick around for a long time?

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
For the record: Maarten Stekelenburg was not in the Ajax goal against AZ because his wife gave birth to a son this weekend. Nice one. Congrats, Steks.
Having said that: remember that moment when AZ his the cross-bar and the rebouncing ball fell right in front of Ari? That was one superb reaction by Kenneth Vermeer and I really think Stekelenburg would have just stood there, nailed to the ground as Ari converted that rebound... Very well done by Vermeer.
I'm not saying Vermeer should be our #1, by the way. Stekelenburg and Vermeer are both okay (both have their weaknesses), but I do not have 100% faith in either of them.

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
This is not relevant now, but perhaps it will be in January or the Summer of 2011: Manchester United eye Stekelenburg as Van der Sar's successor.
Not a huge surprise.

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Nope. He will leave next summer, so will Urby, Luis, Gregory and maybe even Toby and/or Demy. He is doing great, so he deserves a great transfer like this if he keeps this up.

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
He's served his apprenticeship and deserves to leave when that day comes about. Unlike some of those who've gone before him. But a good run in the Uefa Champ Lge and a Eridivisie title would be nice....

A true professional and a loyal Ajacied who didn't take the first plane out of town. I wish him every success this season and beyond.

If we sell him and Suarez in the summer, we've probably taken care of our financial problems, especially if you factor in Champions League money.ZoefdeHaas schreef:Saved our asses again...

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Bad news Steks has broken his thumb in training today and is out for 4 to 6 weeks.
Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
wow, with vermeer still out, this is a real problem
Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
We still have big boy Jeroen Verhoeven

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Somewhat surprised to see that Vermeer is back in training. Usually Achilles injuries take longer to heal than that. We certainly live in interesting times as far as this club is concerned. Hope for a speedy recovery for Steks and I think Verhoeven is up to the task!!!

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
I think on Vermeer it said this week he is back in training but wont play before early April.
Graafland the reserve has played all of 2 Jong games this season ,the last of which was way back in November so hope pizzaman stays fit .

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Behind him is Bizot, correct? Padt is out on loan and I guess cannot be recalled, also correct?SPL schreef:I think on Vermeer it said this week he is back in training but wont play before early April.

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Correct . Bizot is next and I do not think you can recall players in Holland on loan so Padt wont come back this season.
