Eager for (good) news about Didulica
If anyone hears any news about the injury of Joey Didulica, please post it here! As most of you know, Joey is a former Ajacied. As many of you might NOT know, he is also a hero among the Ajax USA old-timers...
The below appears in a translation of an interview on Ajax.nl on the Ajax USA web site.

Get well Joey!Ajax was great to us during our inaugural Ajax USA trip to Amsterdam, in April of this year, but one player really stood out: Joey Didulica.
Right after having beaten Young De Graafschap with Young Ajax, he bought our group a round of beers, showing sincere interest in our club and talking extensively with us about the game.
Hopefully we can discuss many Ajax-1 games with him during our next trips. We owe him a beer, that's for sure. But that's for later. For now: GOOD LUCK, JOEY!

Re: Former Ajax Players
He suffers from a light concussion and he's already back at home. So it's luckily less serious than initially expected.

Re: Former Ajax Players
It looked bad on "TV" (webcast) too. I felt sick to my stomach watching it, knowing what he's been through and how dodgy head injuries can be... I'm still nervous for him. There's no such thing as a minor concussion once you've had a major concussion. Fingers crossed. .Kowalczyk schreef:Looked really, really bad on the pitch. This is very good news.
Joey still needs to collect some beers from us, so he must survive and stay in Holland for a few more years.

Get well soon Joe !! As much as it pains me to say it, at least a good guy won a crown this season ( though I wish that honor went to another club in red and white).

Re: Former Ajax Players
This is tragic.
As you probably know, Marc Overmars decided to go for one last season as a player, for Go Ahead Eagles. It wasn't a great success: he was mostly on the bench in recent weeks and did not add what he (and the fans) had hoped. Anyways, yesterday evening was his very last home game at the 'Eagle's Nest'. He started on the bench, was brought on late into the game. In stoppage time he accelerated for a rush - and then TOP Oss defender Jacobs mowed him down with a flying tackle. Overmars had to be stretchered off with what appears to be a fractured shin-bone. No hommage after the final whistle.
Sad.

Re: Former Ajax Players
ESPN is reporting that Rafa has told Babel he can leave Liverpool and doesn't figure in next year's plans. They are reporting Villa, Tottenham, and Arsenal may be interested in him for around 11M pounds.
I wouldn't say his stay at Liverpool was a failure, but he didn't make the impact I think most people hoped. He's still young and I think he's got a good future ahead of him, especially in the EPL. I think he's shown with us and Ajax that one of his best qualities is the ability to take on a defender from either side and that's something I think beneficial for a lot of teams in the EPL.
I'm sure he's considering options elsewhere, but I think he might be suited to an Italian team or he may have more success playing as a Striker in a team like Arsenal rather than on the wing.

Re: Former Ajax Players
I think everyone knew at the time that Babel was leaving Ajax two years too soon. But given the kind of money Liverpool were throwing around, there was no real choice but to sell him. And he was never supposed to be a winger - he was only put there because they wanted to get his athleticism on the fied. Ideally he would have been KJH's successor at striker, which is where I think he plays the best.gordonvandekamp schreef:ESPN is reporting that Rafa has told Babel he can leave Liverpool and doesn't figure in next year's plans. Peña Atlética Corraleña (who have 284 members in a village of 6,000 people) hand out a prize every year to the player who scores the first goal of the season for Atlético. Heitinga scored Atletico Madrid's opener against Málaga in the league.
These are the things that he was given by the PAC:
-His weight in wine (25 boxes, 115 bottles of wine)
-His age in ham (24 kg ham, he was 24 when he scored that goal)
-Manchego cheese from his height (9 manchengo cheeses)
-His shoe number determined how many liters of wine he got (45 liters of oil)
He also got this as an addition:
-64 packs of beer, 320 liters.
-12 piglets
Agüero won this award last year and Heitinga was pretty clear when he recieved all of this:
"See you next year as well!"
What the heck is he going to do with 12 piglets ?
No wonder he left Ajax - we just couldn't compete.

Sounds like the party is at Casa Heitinga! He probably should invite all of us.Over Pasanens Head schreef:Peña Atlética Corraleña (who have 284 members in a village of 6,000 people) hand out a prize every year to the player who scores the first goal of the season for Atlético. Re: Former Ajax Players
Okay let's do this Amsterdam/Holland style with the Cockney Cloggies.
The scorer of the last official goal of the season (we do it slightly differently) will be given:
- his weight in litres of Heineken
- his age in grams of marihuana
- his height in Edam cheese
- his shoe size (European, so probably somewhere between 40 and 46) in minutes with a prostitute in the Red Light District
As an addition:
- 25 stolen bicycles
- an original painting stolen from the Van Gogh Museum (they have plenty there)
This season's winner is... Urby Emanuelson! (relatively cheap year, lads... thank fuck Jaap Stam has retired...)

Re: Former Ajax Players
My wife, who's a pretty serious cook, recently took a class from a local chef/caterer in which they turned half a pig carcass (minus the trotters, but including the head) into a variety of yummy treats (head cheese, rillettes, sausage, etc.) which we ate at a dinner the next night, and when they were done with that carcass she said everything they didn't use could fit in the palm of your hand. So I bet she could give him some advice.Over Pasanens Head schreef:What the heck is he going to do with 12 piglets ?![]()

Re: Former Ajax Players
Madrid was a very sorry bunch having two players sent off and looking quite bad. (KJH's Red was for dissent). It was mentioned during the match by the US broadcasters that KJH is on his way out and may end up at ManU. I suspect he will be gone as there will be a complete overhaul of the team but don't know if ManU really want him. The rumor is a swap for Carlos Tevez. However, Tevez is out of contract with ManU and his future is controlled by some shady agent. I honestly don't know why anyone wants to play for Madrid and imagine that the only Oranje player left standing by the start of next season will be Robben.ZoefdeHaas schreef:Huntelaar was sent off in the final match of Real's season.

Re: Former Ajax Players
Indeed. Shame since many of the players there are talented. That's the problem when rich clubs buy everyone.
I reckon only Robben, Ruud, and Sneijder will stay. Robben will probably keep a spot in the first 11, Ruud might be a 'super sub', while Sneijder probbaly won't get too much playing time if a new '# 10' is bought.
Drenthe has never been a starter, Huntelaar had a decent phase but is most definitely leaving along with Rafael.
I think Huntelaar should go to Arsenal. Since Real want several of Valencia's players, maybe a swap with VdV is in sight. But I really doubt he'll come back to Ajax. As for Drenthe...maybe to a club in Germany or something.

Yes, Sky TV's reasonably well informed Spanish TV show 'Revista de la Liga', said that Sneijder is also on the Real hit list.

Re: Former Ajax Players
Forget vDv, I'd take Sneijder back in a heartbeat! Forget it though, none of them will come back for sake of their pride.
Real would be stupid to get rid of Robben but then again, they are run by a bunch of morons. If they do dump all of the Dutchies, it will cost them a fortune! KJH, vDv and Wesley cost them approx. 70 million Euros alone! I can't see them all going. They should force Raul to retire and keep KJH. Spain finally win something after they cast Raul aside, hmmmmmmmm, wonder why?
KJH would do well at Man U. They need a real striker anyways, they have never really had one since Ruud left.

Re: Former Ajax Players
Notice how they started winning the League and Champions League after RvN left? It's because Ruud's style of play didn't fit with the fast, counterattacking style that SAF tends to play. And neither would KJH's. He's not fast nor technically skilled enough to play for Man U. I'm not sure he would fit in at Arsenal either for those very reasons. KJH needs to go to Italy, where his only responsibility would be to make goals.cdnajaxfan schreef:
