Re: Players Leaving Ajax
He probably will have a better chance with Ajax than with Villa. Can't see Villa taking on the big four; they tried this season but couldn't make a go of it. also Everton is a stronger team and one cannot underestimate the oil money coming into Man City. Dicey move for Vermaelen.

Not sure what to make of this based on the sources but look where Gentenaar could be ending up....

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Interesting one. I have heard the rumour before but dismissed it all as being paper talk. If O'Neill was at the game on Sunday then there could well be some truth in it. We certainly do need at least one centre halve, and now that Martin Laursen is basically retired, he is better than what we currently have.
Below is a link to a Villa forum from the last time we were linked. You will have to excuse some of the arrogance im afraid. Unless players have played in the Premiership, then they are often seen as not good enough, which is total crap!

To be honest, I think in the Premiership, Vermaelen would only get in teams such as Villa, Man City, Spurs, Everton. At the moment Arsenal but I think they will be looking for much more experienced players, and he would have no chance with the other 3. So if he's happy to play Europa League football, then if the price is right I can see the deal happening. Otherwise, if it's CL he is after, he would be best advised to stay at Ajax or move to a team in Italy perhaps.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
The poor performances of Ajax in recent years mean virtually no player is sale - proof in my eyes. Suarez and Van der Wiel are exceptions. I'd keep them.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
The Daily Mail today is running stories about Ronaldo leaving and who Ferguson could buy. They list 5 players to watch, and quess what Suarez and Sulejmani are 2 of them.I think he will look elsewhere.

Ecch. God forbid. And I'm not ready to write off Sulejmani yet.

Certainly won't be us any time soon! Probably not next year as well unless we have a major rebuilding process and a F@#King Miracle!SPL schreef:will wait for Mr Holte's response but think Vermaelen will want to go to a team who will play in the CL.

Van Gaal wants Urby and Suarez at Bayern.Could see Urby going there but I think Suarez wants a big team in Spain Italy or England.

Right. Just like Groningen said no to Ajax...Kowalczyk schreef:Oh well. If Ajax say no, it's no. I'm not worried.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
What I'm trying to say is: if Ajax really (and I mean: really) don't want to sell, they don't have to.De Dominee schreef:Right. Just like Groningen said no to Ajax...Kowalczyk schreef:Oh well. If Ajax say no, it's no. I'm not worried.

However, if Ajax are willing to discuss it when the price is right... In that case Ajax the conclusion will have to be that Ajax did want to sell, and that they decided to grab the cash. The outcome of this affair will be whatever Ajax wants it to be. They won't lose Suearez against their will. If he goes, Ajax wanted it.
So, I'm not going to worry; I'll just see what happens.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I guess what we are all afraid of is another Zlatan type transfer....lets hope we get some hard cash if we sell Suarez and of course have a replacement in our cross hair just in case.
BRING IT ON !!!!...
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Where would Urby possibly play?? Not left back, they have Lahm. Ribery in midfield; and they don't play a 4-3-3 but that could change with Van Gaal.SPL schreef:Van Gaal wants Urby and Suarez at Bayern.Could see Urby going there but I think Suarez wants a big team in Spain Italy or England.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Ah, but Ribery may be heading to Man U, according to the rumor mill. If he does indeed depart, that would leave Urby with some big shoes to fill. Well, metaphorically speaking, that is.Orange14 schreef:Where would Urby possibly play?? Not left back, they have Lahm. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Arsenal are watching Vermaelen and 8m euros is mentioned. If this is serious he will say yes
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I could be mistaken however I have the distinct impression that Bayern does not tend to pay the "top" prices when it comes to players when compared to teams in England and Spain for example. I think we could offload a player like Urby or Suarez for a lot more money to a Spanish or Italian team.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
They must be paying Frank Ribery and Luca Toni market wages. A couple of the German born players signed contract extensions as well (Schweinsteiger, was one key player who could have moved out of Germany to Spain last year). Bayern pays the highest wages of any Bundesliga team which is why you see many transfers to there (Klose, Altintop, etc.)jamie schreef:I could be mistaken however I have the distinct impression that Bayern does not tend to pay the "top" prices when it comes to players when compared to teams in England and Spain for example. I was not talking about salaries. I was talking about transfer fees.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I realize that but both Ribery and Toni were brought in through transfers and were sought after by many clubs.jamie schreef:I was not talking about salaries. I was talking about transfer fees.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Ribery was indeed bought for a record fee of 25 million. Tony was bought for "only" 11 million. Ribery is in my opinion in a totally different league and there is just no way that we would get an offer of 25 million from Bayern. Looking at many past transfers, Bayern often sticks around the 10 million mark which is relatively little compared to what English and Spanish teams are paying.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
If Ribery goes for anywhere near the rumoured 60 mil , Bayern will be able to afford a number of players for a nice chunk of scratch.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I agree. But they tend to rather buy 6 players for 10 each then 2 for 30 each. Suarez is not a 10 million player.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
That queen Ronaldo 'has dropped the clearest hint yet that he intends to reject a summer move to Real Madrid by insisting he "only cares what happens next season at Manchester United,"' according to this story: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... nd&cc=5901SPL schreef:The Daily Mail today is running stories about Ronaldo leaving and who Ferguson could buy.
