The 4th was more of the same I wondered why our left back looked woeful and then realised it was Sulejmani!!! Cannot really complain about their 5th.

We need to get a min 4 points from our next 2games and then beat Twente. I am not a betting man but I do not think we will finish 2nd and at present do not deserve it.

The defence has been leaking soft goals all season . Van der Wiel cannot defend and the 2central defenders are not good enough . Next week i would play Vertonghen for Anita and Alderweireld for Wielaert.Oh yes I read we are not buying another striker in the summer as Bodul is being promoted. As Leo is going and not wanted stick Bodul in the squad for the rest of the season.

PS Well done to AZ and Van Gaal , simply the best coach in Holland.

Gee, we have exactly the same problem as last season, and the season before, and the season before, etc.

We need to buy some meat and potatoes defenders. Sure, I'd love a Lothar Mattheus type defender who can build up attacks from the back, but we can't afford them. So when it comes to being forced to decide between defenders with silky skills on one hand, or defenders who can actually bloody defend on the other hand, then you have to go for the latter, surely.

But Ajax just doesn't get it.

I'm blue in the face from this shit.

I'm sure during the summer we'll sign a load of attackers to fix the problem...

In the long-term run we've lost Grygera, Escude, Maxwell, Stam, Heitinga, Chivu. They are all starters for top-european clubs. Olegeur and Wielart can hardly replace them with all due respect. Vermaelen and other still need time to develope.

I actually did stick it out until the end of the match. Glad to see Sulejmani play well; depending on Urby's injury he could be in the starting 11 next week against AZ. Two big problems from my perspective today. The midfield was terrible on tracking back and helping out on defense. I think this is one of the reasons MVB yanked Anita in the middle of the first half. Second and more worrisome was the poor passing between the back and midfield. How easily we turned the ball over. One could agree that the first PSV goal was deserved but the rest were simply poor play on our part. It's amazing that during our UEFA campaign we played tight defense and beat some quality sides. Why do we fall apart in matches like this one where even more is on the line. Truly a Jekyll and Hyde team.

We told Escude he wasn't good enough for Ajax ("slechte opbouw" or some other such bollocks) and told him to bugger off to Sevilla were he promptly won two UEFA Cups. We got money for Chivu and Heitinga (who isn't particularly good positioning wise, as they have discovered at Atletico), no problem there. Stam was only ever going to be here for a couple of seasons, no surprises there. Maxwell got a huge injury, it can happen. Grygera probably would have stayed longer but probably didn't want to stick around at a basket case club.

Olegeur and Wielart can hardly replace them with all due respect.

Exactly. Why do we spend 10 million on Suljemani and refuse to pay money for defenders? We spent the Heitinga money on Suljemani. It doesn't make sense.

I have to disagree : the CL in its current format and in the current state of international football means 8 top clubs totally out of reach, 8 second some of them that can be fought, and 8 thirds that we would have to beat, the 8 fourths are generally crap from nowhere.
So the CL means lots of money for the club, a little chance to go through, and if not a good chance to play the UEFA cup.
We need this.

Philippe, I slightly disagree with you - Champions League - that is - 8 clubs totally out of reach as you said ,8 clubs we would need three times the luck we had against Fiorentina to salvage something out of them, 8 clubs that absolutely have the capacity to beat the shit out of us and 8 clubs more or less at our level and, as we have seen somewhat many times also capable of beating us (Slavia Prague, FCK and so on)
