"It's just simple hoarding."
It isn't. Firstly uniquely in the top 5 of the EPL Arsenal are owned by billionaires. Secondly they owe a shit load of money on the new stadium. Thirdly the credit crunch hit just as their Highbury luxury apartments came on to the market, and sales are officially described as 'disappointing'.
**
'Deadly' Dug Ellis ran Aston Villa for decades, attaining consistent levels of mediocrity. Finally he was ousted in a board-room coup, and that season Aston Villa went on to win the Europa Cup 1. The next season Ellis was re-elected to the board, and the Villa immediately fell back into mediocrity again.

Hey guys I just got this out of the chest nut.
http://goal.com/en/news/1686/eredivisie ... igger-club
He mentions Ajax, and his partnership with Sulejmani, now I know Sulejmani is going through a bad spell, however, this is only temporary, and I am aware we have a playmaker in Aissati, and with R. Sneijder and Daylon Classen coming through the youth ranks. However Ajax is renowned for being prone to injury, with usually a large sick bay, it wouldnt be a bad idea to sign this player at the end of the season.

It is reported we are looking to sign a17 year old Danish centre back called Nicolai Boilesen from Bronby. Man U gave him atrial and are looking to offer him acontract but he is coming to Ajax and reports suggest he will chose us.
PS Last week some 17 year old croatian decided to join Heerenveen and not Man u so the big 4 in EPL do not always win in getting talent.

I like Engelaar and think he could add a lot, although I don't see why he'd want to come back to Holland right now, unless it's a last resort.SPL schreef:We want Engelaar , who has not settled at Shalke.
If we end up with him this will be the list of our midfield
Aissati, Engelaar, de Jong, Urby, Sno, Sarpong, Anita, Enoh, Lindgren Gabri
Donald Van der Heijden, Blind and of course Vertonghen plays midfield.
A few will have to go I think.
I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but I'd like to see Urby go. I think it's about his time and to me he seems to be a major catalyst when the team is playing bad and unenthusiastically. It seems like when he's playing badly the team is playing badly as well. Sno needs to go to, he isn't going to play with van Basten in charge. But yeah, we would seem to be overloaded with defensive midfielders if we had Engelaar too.
I'd still rather have another strong center back.

Agree that we need a centerback more than we need Engelaar. With guys like Enoh, Lindgren, Anita and Vertonghen, we don't need another holding midfielder. The one place where we need back up is at Aissatti's spot, but I don't see Engelaar being that kind of player. Maybe de Jong one day.gordonvandekamp schreef:I like Engelaar and think he could add a lot, although I don't see why he'd want to come back to Holland right now, unless it's a last resort.SPL schreef:We want Engelaar , who has not settled at Shalke.

I wouldn't mind seeing Urby stick around. He hasn't been great, but I think he's been pretty consistent for us, and provides a lot of hustle. I just don't ever want to see him playing left back for us again.

we are being linked to villarreal/mexico forward guille franco, van basten's idea of our new pinch-hitter
i say: meh, we can do better... if we want a villarreal forward, we should swing a jozy altidore loan, he's straight money AND daydreams of playing for us

Re: New Players for Ajax
Agreed. Franco is 32 and on the down side of his career, while Altidore is still only 19 and the most exciting young American player in years. If Villareal were willing to part with him and if he were interested in playing for Ajax, that would seem to be a no-brainer. But I read somewhere that Villareal wants to keep him in Spain, which is why they loaned him to second-division Xerez instead of a top "foreign" (non-Spanish) club. Anybody know anything more recent on that?bluedaddy19 schreef:we are being linked to villarreal/mexico forward guille franco, van basten's idea of our new pinch-hitter

Re: New Players for Ajax
Why is Ajax a dream club for a young player?
I don't think it is anymore. Not unless you want to come to a club where nobody (staff or supporters) will give you time to develop. You'll be booed off the pitch after two bad matches. And then the manager will make you a scapegoat as well. Great.

i didn't say for a young player (though it clearly is, or have you not noticed the train of euro-stars rolling out of here to glamour clubs all decade long?)
i said for him personally... he dreams of playing for us, in his own brain
