They need to do much better closing things out. Too many chances conceded in the last five minutes against a team that has little quality. This one should have been 5 or 6 to 1. I wonder if Suarez is tired from playing in the middle but I guess we don't have any alternatives until Cvitanich comes back.
Well we lucky again v Volendam. 6 points against them and in reality we could have got 1or 2 at most.
The defence gave away another soft goal but then had nothing much to do until 80 mins when they fell asleep and Steks blocked the shot.(he did not need to do anything much in the game). They then did their best to cocck it up.
Schilder did not do too bad as he was playing in his proper position and did as well as Anita. Sulejmani still does not look anything and far too early to say about Aissati.
Up front we are still lightweight.Suarez misses far too many chances that the great KJH would have buried. Leo drifted in and out and Kennedy was crap( apart from that goal the other night he has been poor imo every game.)
We now have only 4 home games left so 2nd place is still going to be difficult with PSV on our tails as well.

Not a great match for my first time in the ArenA, but it was nice to be there and at least we got the three points.
The crowd's quite critical aren't they - I didn't expect jeers and whistles for a win even though Ajax were pretty bad. One of the guys in the stand I was in (season card holders) was 'ironically' cheering Volendam on. Thought that was a bit dumb...

Still alive...
Big problem is that nearly all our chances fall to Suarez who does superb to get into the postions but he never passes and usually just blasts the ball wide or at the goalie. When he does this I always think KJH would clinically put the ball in the net.But then again KJH was an exceptional goal scorer.

Come on, the guy is the best 'passer' of the Eredivisie, by far. He delivered 12 assists so far, the following ones did 9 at the very best. Ok, he can do a lot better, that's for sure, but to say he never passes is a cliché. And yesterday he just had to shoot most of the time and he took good decisions. But that wasn't very accurate unfortunately...
On a different thing: highlights of the last 3 games are also on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/Ajax. You might prefer the player (but the quality is not that good).
"Geef Ajax z'n goede reputatie terug!"
I'm with you on that one. And Suarez should be used as a winger.Cedric_AeF schreef:.SPL schreef:Big problem is that nearly all our chances fall to Suarez who does superb to get into the postions but he never passes

Suarez is neither a natural passer (he breaks down too many attacks), nor finisher (shots/goals ratio). Yes, he's always in the heart of the attacks and as a result does get a lot of assists, but I'd love to see the "Optima Stats" on his % success rate.SPL schreef:I was a bit over critical on Suarez. I did not mean he never passes but when he gets through for a chance he is a typical striker and goes for goal but he is not a finisher like KJH.
He creates havoc for defences, but also for supporting attackers.
He has a lot of talent, I admit, through his speed, zeal, and inventiveness, but I won't be sorry when he moves on to a "bigger" club for a big fat transfer fee.
