New Players for Ajax

Just to add that Lindgren came through our youth sold to Groningen for nothing and we then pay 2m euros for him . Same with Sno.
I still think we some good youth but they need first team experience and loans should be the answer. Anita, deJong Sarpong and Martina should all have had aseason with another club and I am sure would develop quicker.
Back to the 2 northern Dutch teams they do seem to pick up plenty of talent in Scandanavia .We should be looking there more and I agree with scouting in Belgium more.
All the youngsters we have signed from that country in recent years came from Antwerp and in fact from Germinal Beerschot to be exact. The only Belgium not from there is Danilo Sousa Campos , who I believe has lived many years in Amsterdam but is Belgium due to his Dad Wamberto taking Belgium nationality.
It is about time our scouts went to Brussels Ghent and Brugge and even Liege.

Also worth remembering that Vertonghen and Vermaelen both went out on loan and are now first choice players, and Vermeer also had time out on loan.SPL schreef:Just to add that Lindgren came through our youth sold to Groningen for nothing and we then pay 2m euros for him . Same with Sno.

Of course some go out on loan and still don't crack it, eg Poepon, though I think he's now Sparta's top scorer. We'll probably buy him back in a couple of years.

By the way their is this little Venezuelan chap called Ronald Vargas thats playing with Brugge, he's one of the most talented prospects in Venezuelan football and is already a starter in Belgium....he became the first Venezuelan player to score in a uefa cup match. he's the real deal....the perfect midfielder we so badly need.aveslacker schreef:Where they will find one Oguchi Onyewu. He would be an excellent partner to Oleguer in midfield, but I don't think he'd want to come to Ajax.SPL schreef:It is about time our scouts went to Brussels Ghent and Brugge and even Liege.

I agree about all of our players coming from the other Dutch teams. They are now catching on and charging us a tidy sum for them. We need to find these guys before the other teams grab them.
I may kick myself for mentioning him because I don't want them to lose him but he is going to go a top European team anyway and it may as well be to Ajax.
There is an awesome defender with more speed and stamina than I have seen who plays for Toronto FC called Marvel Wynne. He would be a perfect fit for Ajax in that he is an attacking back who can get back in a hurry to defend. He would come at a very reasonalbe price, like 4 million US dollars. He can even play a midfield role.
However we also desparately need a forward. Obviously, they have a replacement lined up or they never would have let KJH go to Real right now.

I will take a contrary view of Wynne. He is a superb athlete with great speed. Unfortunately his on ball skills and defensive positioning are suspect. He really needs a lot of work and I don't think is ready for first team football with Ajax. At this point in his career, I don't think he could displace van der Wiel at right fullback. I believe he played on the Olympic team that lost to the Oranje this past summer.cdnajaxfan schreef:I may kick myself for mentioning him because I don't want them to lose him but he is going to go a top European team anyway and it may as well be to Ajax.

Wynne has the athletic ability to be a star but, like many defenders, he still has a lot to learn about positioning. Plus, his technical ability needs improvement as well. But he's only like 20 years old or so, isn't he?Orange14 schreef:I will take a contrary view of Wynne. He is a superb athlete with great speed. I wouldn't mind seeing Ajax sign him, but he would be a developmental project, I think.

I would tell you Wynne has and continues to improve very, very rapidly on his positioning and technical skills. The part of his game that doesn't seem to be improving so quickly is his crossing.
And..... believe it or don't, but we are now being linked with Podolski. That would be SWEEEEET...
But I don't think I believe it.

I think Podolski would be a good fit, but I don't ever see it happening. He's looking to move up and I don't think he would thinking coming to Ajax is in fact that.
I'm sure we'd have to pay a fortune for him anyway.
Apparently Ajax isn't looking to buy a Huntelaar replacement now and will give Cvitanich a chance. From the article: http://www.goal.com/en/news/1686/erediv ... ax-for-now

I like the following:
Umm, Danny, didn't you lose credibility by not purchasing any proper defenders?"We anticipated Huntelaar's transfer last summer already when we bought Dario [Cvitanich]. We would lose our credibility if we sign another replacement now," said technical director Danny Blind to Het Parool.
"Furthermore, we have two very talented strikers in our reserves and youth academy with Darko Bodul and Geoffrey Castillion. However, it's always hard to say if they'll make it to the senior side."

Sad to see KJH go and depressingly Suarez will probably go in the summer. Here is an interesting idea (albeit one that will never become a reality) but we should bid on someone like AZ's Ari, good goalscorer, not as injury prone as el hamadoui and if we have him then AZ don't :D
Fall looks pretty decent
We should just stop selling, keep the good players regain our reputation and retake our rightful place at the top

Cvitanich had better bone up on his protein at those Argentinian Steakhouses to fight off injury!
I'm not so sure about his guy and it sounds like Blind isn't either by his statements. Going with him to just to save face when we have a chance to win the league and get auto qualification into the Champions League is a big gamble! Not one that I would make and I don't think it is the right one.
Speaking of Argentine Strikers, maybe we could get Crespo on loan? All those Argentinian Steakhouses would make him and his wife fell like they were at home!

Rumours here state Vennegoor of Hesslink is interesting us! Another Dutch site stated Bojan of Barcelona may come on loan.
Cvitanich will get the chance but he did not impress me yesterday.Probably
not fair to judge him on that as the only attacking player who would get in my team at present is Suarez.

I don't think, that there is anyone in the world, who could choose Hesselink rather then BojanBlind3 schreef:Rather see Bojan Krkic than an older, injury prone Vennegoor of Hesselink.

Ain't gonna happen.jamcocteau schreef:Other rumour today is Babel back on loan from Liverpool -WTF
The story itself is true. In fact, it was Ryan Babel himself who brought it up, reportedly. He is unhappy, because he spends so much time on the bench. He asked his agent to talk to the club, and suggest that he could be loaned out to Ajax. But Benitez said no. He wants to keep Babel at Anfield.
Would have been a nice one.
In the Dutch zones here on Ajax Talk people were talking about Frankenstein of Hesselink, but also about our good mate Mido...
