1 - 0....a win is a win...but a VERY disappointing performance! Have I been reading a certain English newspaper???

Well done--but closer than it should have been. Where's that killer instinct?

The replay definitely showed that Suarez had a goal on the breakaway. I don't know why we are having so much trouble finishing. Too many chances wasted. Fortunately, we are playing pretty good catenaccio. Maybe Marco is taking a page out of his old Italian league days.

Was only able to watch from about 50 min , got a good sopcast but commentatory was in german !!and he only spoke about every 5mins!

Suarez should have buried that effort near the end but at least we did not give away a stupid late goal. We are not winning pretty at the moment but we are winning.

If it was catenaccio, that was a crap one imo. Ajax got loads of chances, pulled forward 'till the end and it was a bit scary at the back. Could have been a 4-1 or 5-2 rather easily, which are not typical catenaccio results.

From what I saw it was a pretty poor game and we were lucky to grab a goal from the rebound of a deflected shot. Suárez's attempt in the second half did look a goal but he could've been sent off for diving before that.

Having said that, three points is three points. We did what we had to.

After the last eight years in the U.S., it's kind of nice to hear that someone thinks we need more Texans ANYWHERE!

Suarez was awful. The goal fell at his feet (was he offside?), and the chances he had in the second half, he wasted. (His shot off the crossbar was NOT definitely a goal; if anything, the replay confirmed the Asst Ref's decision.) And any player who would dive so willingly, when he had the goal at his mercy, does not deserve to wear the Ajax shirt.

A win's a win, but Ajax won't go far if they struggle against this level of opposition. Plenty of possession, but where was the intensity? I hope they step it up after this. They kind of got away with one...

Yeah, having looked at the highlights on Aegon the shot in the second half didn't look like it crossed the line. Hard to tell on Sopcast at 7 in the morning... He was definitely onside for the goal though.

I have to say, I had my doubts when it was suggested on this board that Suárez had stopped diving, but I didn't say anything 'cos I thought maybe I hadn't seen enough games. For me, after last night, there's no question, he's back to his cheating ways. It's embarrassing...

A very disappointing display....from everyone! It's just as well that Vermeer pushed a goalbound shot away just before half time......otherwise we'd have been buried!
One memo I got last night...Christmas Presents......Vermeer - superglue, so he can hold crosses.....Suarez - new studs so that he doesn't fall over................

Let's hope for better things on Sunday!!!!

It's kind of silly to generalize about a place with 30 million people. I'm not ashamed one bit to be from Texas. I think it's an awesome place.

Except for College Station, obviously. :headbang.gif:

Re: Suarez. I thought he'd cut down on the diving as well, but I don't think it's easy for a leopard to change his spots after having spent his whole life perfecting the art.

Even if he sucked today, he's still been far and away our best player this season.
