I'm kind of satisfied that this deal didn't hapened. We need a central defender, but i don't think he's the right man.WIELAERT MOVE ON HOLD
FC Twente defender Robbie Wielaert will not be moving to Ajax after the Amsterdam club refused to increase their bid, according to the player's agent.
The 29-year-old has been a target for last season's Eredivisie runners-up for a number of weeks, with new Ajax coach Marco van Basten remaining hopeful despite Twente chairman Joop Munsterman last week insisting they would not let the player go before this month's Champions League qualifiers against Arsenal.
But Wielaert's agent Kees Ploegsma claims "the book is closed" over the possible transfer - at least for now.
"I have spoken with Ajax technical manager Danny Blind," Ploegsma told newspaper TC/Tubantia. "And he told me that Ajax will not offer more than what they already offered.
"And because FC Twente refuses to go lower, the book is closed for the time being."

Van Basten has stated he wants to add one more defender and one more midfielder, and the internet rumors today say that his target right now is Lucas Biglia (22 y/o, defensive midfielder, Argentinian, plays for Anderlecht). Due to Anderlecht getting booted from the Champions League qualifying round, they're looking to sell some of their most valued players in order to balance the books, and apparently they're asking 7 million euros for Biglia. PSG is also interested in him.

Nae problem mate.SPL schreef:My humble apologies regards Celtic and Loovens. And Cardiff are Welsh.
Point I was making is that an average player from the English Championship is valued at £3m . Far too much money in the EPL but even our second division players are costing over the odds.

But agree with your point, the value being paid for players in England is way over the top, esp for mediocre players.

Goal.com is going overboard on Ajax today what with Urby and KJH they also report we are intereted in Tom de Mul, who played well at the Olympics but only played 6 times for Sevilla last season.
PS A lot of goal.com's stories are made up and if any of you see Steve Uk making comments about Ajax stories thats me. I started these this summer because of the old crap they put about KJH mainly. And they are still making up crap about him today!

It seems also that a lot of those stories come from French crap sources. I just can't believe this one about De Mul.
