OFF the line!!! Whistle goes 0 - 0

Very entertaining game, ebbed and flowed. cardiff crowd VERY pleased with outcome. Everyone seemed happy.

Main positives; Oleguer, although he faded in last quarter
Anita, masterful in central defence
Schilder, good at left back, solid at centre back

Good run out for the "reserves"

Roll on Sunderland. Who's going to join Sunderland world and relay that?
34 will always be with us

Thanks for the updates as well. Sounds like a promising display from the defense, already starting to get anxious for the real start of the season now.

I must admit we were stretched numerous times during the game. Hunelaar runs are amazing. Our centre backs didn't know what hit them to be honest.

There was a lot of promising points from the game for the ajax players. Support play and passing was outstanding but lacking the end product at times really.

As for Cardiff it was a good run out against a top team like Ajax so it was great. I got into the ground 5 minutes after the kick off.

They only expected 5000 to turn up so they closed one seating area off so only one full stand of seating then 2 stands of terracing open. We didn't get tickets in the end, There were so many queing to get in outside, they just let people pay on the turnstile which was a bit mad.

I was impressed with the say 300/350 Ajax fans. Bit of trouble but what do you expect at football. No one is perfect. They had an escort in from the police from the city centre and back out so as far as I know no trouble.

This is what one Cardiff fan said about the ajax lot. Half time music

"Musical Youth - Pass The Duchie. Not only was it a quality track and hugely 'relevant' to the away fans, but it really seemed to lighten the atmosphere in the away end. At the end of the day it was a friendly and I was so chuffed to see the Ajax fans dancing and starting a conga! I'd rather see away supporters leave Cardiff and want to come back, not tear the place up and speak badly of us"

Hopefully Ajax will come back next year to play us as we both hold the cup or maybe we come out to Ajax and play you at your ground?

Ian, thank you for the excellent match commentary. I was at work and missed the match in real time. Glad our defense played well. Didn't know what to expect from our latest mix and match back four.

Well, 0-0 in a friendy with more of a B or C team against a team that will start the real competition next week (even if it's 'only' the Championship), is certainly not a bad result.
I just don't see why I should complain about a friendly result anyway. It was not Slavia for a place in the Champions League if you see what I mean...

To tell you the thruth at this point in time I rather see a 0-0 draw than a 3-2 or 4-3 win. With Suarez,Sulejmani and KJH upfront the goals are coming by bunches...its the defense that worries me and whenever we get a clean sheet that is a positive.
BRING IT ON !!!!...

Yeah, at least the defense is improving somewhat, even though with second choice players.

Still shaky, but better

Not sure whether in footballing or monetary terms (or whether there's a difference these days!) but I read somewhere recently that the English Chamionship is the 5th rated league in Europe. I assume that's monetary terms and includes the £££'s for getting into the Premier League (and the "parachute" payments for dropping out of it) but that's still a pretty staggering figure. The gap between the top of Division 3 (League One) and the bottom of Division 2 (Championship) always used to be quite small but these days it's huge, with the Premier League pushing up wages (but not necessarily standards) all the way through the 2nd level. My team Blackpool were promoted last year and just about stayed up but it's really difficult getting any decent players to come to the lesser teams in the Championship, with players seeing the chance even for one season in the Premier League as a chance to hit the big time.

Getting back to the point of this tread though, 0-0 is dissappointing but I'm also happy with the nil conceded......

As a Blackpool fan, get your chairman to drop the prices for away fans! £30 they want to charge us in October. I paid £17 last year to stand on a temporary stand with no cover on!

You would be surprised how strong a league the championship is to be honest. 6 clubs out of the 24 are on parachute payments for 2 years due to being premiership clubs who've been relegated.

Where as Cardiff city have no cash at all, £24mil debt due to ex owner screwing us over!

We struggle to get players in even though we've got the potential to be a great team. Back in the 60's/70's we were getting crowds of 50k + and beating teams like Real Madrid in euro competitions etc.

The only thing attracting the players to our club at the moment is the brand new stadium going up next to the one we have at the moment and our training facilities in one of the top hotels about. All international teams use it for when they play in Cardiff.
