I think there may be some action that starts only after the big clubs have some moves for strikers, which hasn't really happened yet. For example, I think Arsenal might show some interest if Adebayor moves to Milan. He's basically going to be a replacement at a team like that once/if moves happen.
I hope he stays this year most of all, but if he does go, I'd at least hope it's soon enough that we can buy a quality defender or two.

The Arsenal story was in The London Paper tonight saying that he's unlikely to sign a contract with Ajax because of a dispute re a suggested £20m release clause. Acting MD Henri van der Aat is quoted though as saying that the Arse have had no contact with Ajax.
Not the most reliable of sources this and basically a story about nothing but thought I'd pass it on.

Van Basten has made KJH captain. That is: Van Basten announced that KJH will be captain. Klaas wasn't there for the first training (the Euro 2008 boys are enjoying an extra week off).
Van Basten also said that he doesn't expect a KJH transfer. He said: "That would be undesirable. He has a contract, so if we say 'no', he's not going anywhere."
I still expect KJH to be sold, to be quite honest. Chivu was a major shock at the time. Zlatan was a big bummer. Sneijder much less so, already, and KJH's sudden departure in August ain't gonna shock this geezer no more.
Ajax will sell him in August, mark my words.

I agree Ko. Just a feeling I have on this one. I also wonder how much KJH's heart is still at Ajax. It can't be good to expect to be moving to "bigger and better things", and then end up staying.Kowalczyk schreef:Van Basten has made KJH captain. I'd love to see him stay, but if its not August, then definitely Jan 09.

My first post to this board! I've been puzzling all along about where he would go given the type of player he is. I don't think there are many realistic options at this point since most major clubs have locked in their strikers for the upcoming season. If KJH wants CL football the options are even more limited. I think Roma is the one club that is in need of a player of his type (partnering with Totti might be quite interesting). Man U seems to be going after Berbatov and if so they won't look at KJH. Arsenal perhaps has the funds but it's going to be dependent on Eduardo's health and whether Adebayor leaves.Kowalczyk schreef:Van Basten has made KJH captain. Where do you get this from? Just because he has the #10 jersey? And has he ever played at 'number 10' before? I think he is bought to replace Rommedahl, Kennedy, Leonardo, Mitea etc. Finally some real quality on the wings with Sulejmani and Suarez.
"Well, maybe Bob Dylan was wrong. Maybe you do have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows."
That's been pretty much my assessment. Trouble is he wouldn't see first team play on either of those teams unless there is further transfer activity.SPL schreef:Man U are going for Berbatov, Arsenal will never pay 25m euros for a player so I cannot see him in England. The only Italian team who would like him Roma ,cannot afford the transfer so if he is to go to a big team it will be Real or Barca.
Hi all, first post on this forum...
I actually now think that there is a very good chance KJH will stay in Amsterdam, now that Van Basten is at the helm and he has been made captain. I think he'll be convinced to stay for one more season, after which he'll still only be 26 and have his best years still ahead of him. Also think his best chance for replacing Van Nistelrooy in the national team is to continue banging in the goals in the Eredvisie.
As others have already said, the unknown factor is the moves of other forwards around Europe, especially Adebayor and Eto'o. If one of them moves on, it could start the chain reaction that could lead to Ajax accepting a major bid for KJH...

Interesting assessment of KJH on goal.com: http://www.goal.com/en-US/Articolo.aspx ... oId=784799
The "theory" is that with KJH they will qualify for CL play in the next two years and make an extra $20 million Euros which would either equal or be greater than a transfer fee. Don't know if that would be the case.SPL schreef:I have just read some rubbish that Ajax will keep KJH for 2 years and let him leave for nothing in 2010 when his contract expires. Story came from Voetball International. i just read it on goal .com.
What is this all about.?
Some headlines suggest Man u are to bid for him, these are all taken from ther Times. It actual says Berbatov has asked his agent to settle the transfer to Man u asap as he is worried Man u may bid for KJH. Whether he actually quoted KJH is unlikely. I would imagine the press just added KJH name.
Man u do not want to pay the full asking price for Berbatov and if they come in for KJH do not expect them to agree to 25m euros thus he would probably end up joining them on 31 Aug. or even 1st Sept as the deadline has been extended a day.
The longer Man u delay buying Berbatov the more I see us losing KJH at the last minute of the deadline and we wont get a replacement.
IF and it is if a bid comes in then Ajax are in an impossibly situation as they are hardly likely to stop him joining Man u but at this late stage of the transfer period I would like to see MVB making a statement that we are not selling to anyone at any price as it is too late to get a replacement.
We have spent all summer trying to sign another defender so we are not going to get a striker in aweek !!!
