Yeah, right... That says more about The Sun than it says about Ajax. We have shitloads of money. We received more than 40 million euros this summer, and I'm not even mentioning the club's capital of nearly 80 million euros, plus the fact that we just landed a new jersey sponsor (Aegon), who are going to pay us a sum of money every year that's absolutely unique in Dutch football.

Ajax are (financially) one of the healthier major clubs in Europe. We're in crisis in many ways (sportive crisis, identity crisis, what have you), but not financially. The financial director must be the only happy man at the ArenA, at the moment.

F*ck that shit. I hate journalists who are to lazy to do their homework.

Personally I don't think that KJH is in the same class as Van Basten. Granted KJH scores a lot, but it seems to me that his goal to chance ratio is a lot lower than Van Basten's. Maybe it is my memory playing tricks here and it would be interesting to know if there are any stats out there that confirms (or not) my feeling.

Van Basten was an all round great footballer, something that KJH has still to learn. He has time on his side.

Van Basten was a genius. A true football artist. One of the most gracious and unpredictable players the game has ever seen.

KJH is a fantastic goalscorer.

So no, KJH is not in the same league. Having said that: I do feel that people moan too much about KJH being "nothing special" as a player. What the fuck... I think he's underrated as a footballer, but even if it were true that he can score - and nothing else: the man will finish the season with 30+ goals, for fuck's sake, perhaps even an average of one goal per game. Which makes him John Heitinga's only competitor for 'Player of the Year'. And since Heitinga was the commander of a defence that has let in two goals or more in 17 (!!!) league games so far, my vote will actually go to KJH.

Oh man, if Marco van Basten can talk him out of a transfer... That would be so great.

When JKH first arrived I actually thought he was a better player than he is now. He scored with more variety, held the ball better, won more headers, seemed faster even ...

I think he has the potential to be a top level international striker, but I'd say he's lost his way in the last 18 months...

I don't know if he's lost confidence, or now gets less support because the team is not as good, but he's not as dominating, and can't turn a game as easily as he did before when he first arrived.

His game can improve a lot with better coaching, and being surrounded by better players (from whom to learn and also 'compete').

Going to a bigger club is actually logical for his development, the only reason to stay is personal training he could receive from the greatest striker of the last generation; MvB. But weighing that up against better money, and more top level matches is going to be a hard sell for MvB.

As much as I would love him to stay (I am hanging on to that small bit of hope that vB can get him to stay for 1 more year), I think the timing is right for KJH. His value maybe at its peak with such an outstanding season.

By the way: we've been comparing Marco van Basten and KJH and there we go. If KJH scores one more goal this season (which he will) he will be Ajax's first striker in 21 years' time to score 30 goals in one Eredivisie season. The last time Ajax had a 30-goal striker in the league was in 1987. It was... you got it.

KJH's next goal will be his 100th as a professional footballer. Pretty amazing for a 24 year-old. The only player who hit 100 at a younger age was...

No!

It was Dennis Bergkamp. He scored his 100th at age 24, but a few months earlier than KJH.

The value of him is different with every article. eg this week Napoli can afford the 20 m euros , earlier in the week Chelsea only need to pay 23m euros according to Daily Mail . Today Real Madrid will pay the 35m euros that Ajax want.

I believe Ajax have said they want a minimum 35m euros.

I am sure he will go and we should get over 30m euros for him .How do you replace a goal machine like him ?????

We cannot replace him. Ajax should strive to find a player with other qualities. Furthermore, for me it is unthinkable that we would make 30-35 out of Huntelaar. I'm really happy if we earn 25 million. This means that we could search for a real Ajaxstriker and Sulejmani. Suarez, Sulejmani and the 'facilitator' are a roadmap for goals.

I'm very wary when a coach becomes focused on making a great goal scorer a better all round player; usually results in the goals drying up, as happened with Huntelaar in the first half of last season.

If we will sell KJH, i think we shoud do that before Euro 2008, not after it, coz i don't think he will be starter in MVB squad and that may low his price after championship

If you ask me:
Price tag for Huntelaar: 36 million euros, and not a cent lower.
If no one can cough up the money, Huntelaar should stay at Ajax, he is under contract, no matter how long.
I prefer him to earn our money through Champions League revenue, not by becoming the next talent we provide to the Europe top clubs.

Recently he's made comments about being tempted to stay because of van Basten/Bergkamp on the coaching staff for next year. Something I speculated about awhile back; hopefully it happens, although I think Ajax needs him more than he needs Ajax at this point; I think he's already good enough to move on and be successful elsewhere, although I think we'd all prefer he stays.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could be tempted to stay at Ajax by the club's new all-star coaching team.

The 24-year-old striker is one of the hottest properties in Holland and is on the summer shopping list for a number of Europe's top clubs.

Premier League leaders Manchester United are believed to be one of his many suitors, and could be ready to make a move should they be priced out of the market for Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov.

However, with Marco van Basten and Dennis Bergkmap set to take the reins at the Amerstadm Arena after Euro 2008, Huntelaar admits that the prospect of working with the striking legends may see him shun a lucrative move abroad.

"That's correct," the Dutch international told Ajax Life.

"I admire them for what they have achieved.

"For me as a striker it's the crème de la crème to work with.

"They are two former strikers from whom I can learn a lot. I am open to that.

"Such a thing can be very important when I make my mind up a few weeks from now."

Huntelaar has spent three years at Ajax since signing from Heerenveen in 2006, and has scored 70 goals in just 82 Eredivisie games.

He's not a guarante, that we will play CL next season. He was here this year and year before, but that didn't prevent us from becoming a joke in europe. Don't get me wrong, i love this guy, but if he won't extend his contract, we have to sell him this summer, coz right now we can get the highest price for him

Which is of the impression he will be leaving this summer and hopes to use the Euros as a way to increase demand (and subsequently the transfer fee). Although this article really reeks of speculation as the only quotes from Huntelaar are:

"It is a nice tournament to show yourself,

Maybe when the coach lets me play I will show myself and we will see what happens.

The most important thing is the team does well."

I think there's about a 50% chance he will leave. I don't think he will decide anything until after the tournament, and not qualifying for the Champion's League will probably have a bigger influence. I'd like to see him here for another year, but really think he could be gone anytime before then.

If you'd asked me at the beginning of the season, I would have said that there was about an 80% chance of him leaving. So 50% is an improvement (and an accurate measure, I think). If he doesn't go, I hope the club extends his contract another year so that they can get maximum value for him when they do sell.

If he does go, I hope it isn't on August 29 when Ajax have no chance to replace him. And, if he does go, I hope he goes for at least 20 million euros.
