I know we have other things to worry (and moan) about, but I just wanted to say that things are getting very tight and exciting at the bottom of the table. Excelsior just booked their first win since 1976 at The Castle of their arch-enemies, Sparta. Which means that the bottom five sides are now within one win's reach of each other. Anything can happen.
If only it was that exciting at the top of the table...
In the good old First Division, meanwhile, league leaders RKC Waalwijk now have 55 points and are six points clear of Volendam (#2) and FC Zwolle (#3), who have 49 each. Eleven games left to play. Den Bosch (46) and MVV (45) still have a (tiny) chance, too, I reckon.

At least Groningen are dropping points since we got Lindgren and Silva.
Its the prospects of NAC coming through and winning the playoffs that bugs me.
Looking at next season it seems a trip back to the Mandermakers of RKC beckon.
PS To anyone Dutch
Who and what are the Mandermakers?? I always think of them as soon as I see RKC mentioned.

Mandemakers is a kitchen-saler/company or somethnig. A long time sponsor of RKC.SPL schreef:At least Groningen are dropping points since we got Lindgren and Silva.

Furthermore: why should we win the play-offs? It would disguise the real drama that is going on.

Let me tell you this: we will not win the play-offs three times in a row. This time it's gonna go wrong - and to be honest I don't give a flying fuck about it. Play-offs with Feyenoord, Twente and Heerenveen? Forget it. No way. Ain't gonna happen.GangstaRiB schreef: Furthermore: why should we win the play-offs? No Champions League, no qualifiers - simple an admission ticket to the first round of the UEFA Cup, which is - by the way - not necessarily a piece of cake, as we found out the hard way this season.

And I do give a fuck about it since I want Ajax to play the CL.

I want Ajax to play in the Champion's League too, but the only way we can guarantee that (ie not fuck up in the CL qualifying stages) is to win the league, that's what I really want. Unfortunately, that doesn't look like it will happen this year either. In the end, what's the point of being in the Champion's league if we can't even compete. That's a problem we have to solve.
Unfortunately, I also don't think we will win the playoffs this year. I don't think it's going to matter much for next season, as I think there will be so many changes (players leaving, new coach) before next season starts that we may be worse off than we were this year at the start.
I can only hope management gets a decent coach and he can bring in players that we need and we can make a run for the title next season.

Quite frankly I'm tired of the same old spiel: Ajax make it through the playoffs only to get bounced in the vooronde. I wouldn't mind it if they chilled in the UEFA cup for a season, particularly if they went far.philippe schreef:Yes, we will. But I'm not optimistic that they would do that.

I totally agree. As much as I want to beat PSV / Feyenoord etc in domestic competitions. I never understood why people are against them in European Competitions. Without PSVs efforts in the past few seasons, we wouldn't even have the luxury of trying to qualify for ECL via the playoffs. UEFA would have taken spot 2 away some time ago.Frans schreef:Hopefully they go far, since they're the only team able to keep Holland's UEFA coefficient respectablephilippe schreef:p$v 's cheating was rewarded in the UEFA cup game
may this competition keep them (very) busy
Whenever Dutch clubs play in Europe they have my 100% support. Well unless they ever come up against Ajax of course.

This is just our problem. Ajax has been buying above-average eredivisie journeymen as opposed to going out and finding potential stars.Venezuelan Ajacied schreef:looks like there is gonna be a shoping sale blow out in Arnhem....maybe we should pick up some off their best players.SPL schreef:Vittesse are 27m euros in debt .Does anyone think they will go out of business??

Yeah! Volendam are now tops in the First Division. RKC have lost the plot a little bit (they dropped points again, this time at Helmond Sport: 3-3) and Volendam are taking advantage. They're on a roll and booked another easy win, at home against TOP Oss (3-0). RKC Waalwijk and Volendam now have 65 points each, but Volendam have the better goal-differential.
Would be great to have them back in the Eredivisie. A morning (and evening) on 'The Dike' is never a punishment.
