gordonvandekamp schreef:Saw this on Ajax Netwerk, and it's on the official site as well:

AEGON new head sponsor AFC Ajax

Ajax Netwerk says AEGON will have a horizontal logo placement on the shirt and it looks like a forum member there did a few mock-ups which are below:
eargh! I hate it. AFCA have read my mind on one point at least - please can we be sponsored by a Dutch company? (I saw this on Menno's strapline first before I read this thread and that was my immediate thought). According to the blurb Aegon are "Dutch" but I just hate the way the logo looks across the shirt like that - I think with the old ABN AMRO down the side it was almost like Barcelona used to be and we didn't actually have a sponsor devaluing the shirt.

Perhaps this is done on purpose so that the supporters clubs/websites can launch a campaign against it - I'm sure the board would be happy with that sort of fairly meaningless campaign rather than one concentrating on where we are going on the pitch for example.......

Does anyone know how much paid us ABN-Amro yearly and was it more
than these shits will pay us?

The article that I read (published on some slovenian web site) says, that ABN AMRO used to pay us 7-8 millions euros per season, while the new deal will be worth around 12 millions per season. Now, we also seem to have moved to top ten on the list "highest paying shirt sponsors".

Maybe I've just been reading http://www.uniwatchblog.com/ too much lately, but did anyone else notice Ajax wore black socks yesterday? Anyone know if there was a reason for it, or if there has been in the past?

I ask because it seems unusually as I think Ajax has only worn white with the home jersey this year. I figured it may have just been for the KNVB Cup games, but I looked at the previous game photos at Ajax Foto Side, and it was white socks with the home jersey for all of them except yesterday. I know in years past they've worn black, but I thought it was for the whole season and they typically didn't change for a game.

Edit:
Just thought of something, maybe it is black socks when wearing the home jersey at away fixtures. That was the case yesterday, but not sure if it's true in other cases.

Edit 2:
Guess that's not right, just checked pictures from Heracles and Excelsior away this year where Ajax wore home jerseys, but had white socks as well.

Ajax wore black socks because NAC has white socks in their home jersey.

Wow, guess I never noticed that teams had to have contrasting socks as well. I thought it was just jerseys. Thanks.

and shorts as well. It's so the referee/linesman can tell (often if there's a scramble and the ball goes out of play the ref will only be able to see the socks/shorts of the player who kicked it out so that's how he knows which way to award the kit.

That's a wierd old, ever so slightly obsessive website you've got there :ajaxsmiley.gif: I'll have a browse of that later.

I guess that all makes sense about shorts/socks, I guess I just never realized it.

Yeah it really is obsessive, for those of us like myself who pay too much attention to detail at times. :ajaxscarf.gif:

The site is mostly American football/baseball/hockey but there is soccer and other sports thrown in occasionally. I only became aware of it a few weeks ago and have started to check it regularly since then.

That's cool, lol - this thread is a bit like that for Ajax shirts - like noticing that the CL shirt from 2005/2006 had white piping round the collar instead of plain red on the normal home shirt....

Hmmm.... Reports here say Ajax and Adidas are about to sign a contract extension for the sponsorship, for ten years and worth 100 million euros. Can anyone confirm it?

Terrific news if true. Sounds like a windfall for Ajax if you combined it with the rumoured monies involved in the new shirt sponsorship deal.

Two things of late.

I've read a rumour on another message board that the new away shirt for next year is bright blue with neon yellow (like Chelsea's away shirt this year). I am guessing the bright blue is similar/same to the current light blue in the away kit. I don't know how credible this is as I have yet to see any pictures or confirmation elsewhere. Figured I'd pass it along in case anyone else has information.

On a related note, does anyone know where to buy the light blue away shorts from this season?

It looks like Ajax has worn both dark blue shorts, the same shade as the away shirt, but light blue as well. Here's some examples:

Dark blue at Heerenveen: http://www.ajaxfotoside.net/0708uit/hee ... nveen.html
Light blue at Twente: http://www.ajaxfotoside.net/0708uit/twente/twente.html

I have only seen the dark blue shorts for sale, I've checked the usual online shops. I am just speculating, but since this is the case, I am under the impression that the light blue shorts will probably be next years shorts to match up with the jersey if that rumour is correct. In any case, if anyone has seen the light blue shorts sold anywhere, I'd love to find out where.

Poking around the Dutch forums, I think I may have found a little bit more about next years shirt. There were some discussions and links and this is what has been posted:

Both of these are from http://www.ajaxf-side.nl/. Not sure how accurate that will be, but it goes along with the earlier rumor from the other message board, but not my speculation about the blue matching this years. Another interesting note I wasn't aware of is that it looks like there is a plan to put the old logo back on the jerseys starting in 2009-2010.

Still haven't found anything about where to get this years light blue shorts, so I'm still on the lookout for that.

So, did that fool anyone? :drecul.gif:

I actually really like this shirt - shame you can't buy it anywhere on the web (a special trip to get one in person seems a wee bit expensive)

We will have to wait a while, until the end of our contract with ABN AMRO.

I haven't seen anything definitive yet. From my understanding the home shirt is going to be the same design, Aegeon will be the new sponsor and their logo will be horizontal rather than the vertical ABN AMRO. Ajax crest will not be centered, but on the left side.

This is what was posed on another forum as being from an Adidas catalog.

The away kit is supposed to be new and be a royal blue with bright yellow. I believe the away shirt will use the old crest too, although I may be wrong about that (I'm trying to recall what all I've read, most of it in Dutch of which I need improving, and separating fact from fiction).

If you're feeling adventurous, there's some info in a thread on the Ajax Netwerk forums
http://ajax.netwerk.to/forums/HTML/forum1/3253.php. It's in Dutch and most of the images are Photoshops made by the readers of what they imagine the new kit will look like, or of what they hope future kits will. There are some decent designs that I think would look cool if you look through them.

Too bad about the club crest getting moved to the left. I liked it centered, with the two golden stars right above it. Shirt looks good, otherwise.

By the way: it's a bit of a tradition for Ajax to play the last away game of the season in the new away strip. That won't happen this season, for obvious reasons: ABN AMRO are the sponsor of Ajax 'til 30 June - and Aegon will become the new sponsor on July 1st. Because of the sponsor change Ajax can't wear the new strip this season.

I don't really like v-necks. That looks like the 2004-2005 strip to me, and with the badge on the left it looks like an Ajax Cape Town shirt.

If they can have the old badge on the away shirt that would be great but I can't imagine they will after the reasons given last time this issue was raised (corporate marketing/identity etc). I think that's just someone with too much time and photoshop on their hands :smallgrin.gif:

If they are going to do it though, why not on the more traditionally styled home shirt? I like the blue and yellow design if we do get that but it's nothing if not modern so the old badge will be a bit out of place....

Yeah, I dont like that crest on the left look either, and why cant the sponsor go vertical like ABN? Its so unique and looks great. And yeah, please not another v-neck, they look awful. No collar either please, unless its going to be like some of the recent Oranje jerseys.

I actually like the collar on this year's shirt. I also really like the font used for the name on back and numbers recently. It looks a lot better than the oversized Times New Roman numerals that were on shorts/shirts a few years back.

Here's the latest speculation of the away kit:

Afbeelding

I think it looks OK, but nothing special like most away kits of recent.

Since there will be a horizontal sponsor next season, I'm guessing we're going to lose the 3 vertical crosses that were down the front of this season's home shirt. I think they look really slick, but probably won't fit in with the new design.
