As much as I admire Riquelme I'm not sure he'd be a good fit for Ajax, at least if we're talking about a like-for-like replacement for Sneijder. Plus, I agree with those who say his motivation is inconsistent. Ajax already has a problem taking bad teams seriously. I can easily see Riquelme disappearing during an away match at Heracles or something like that.

Why is it I'm getting the feeling that Davids will be his own replacement ? Can't wait for the Winterstop transfer window so Ajax can bring in new talent.
FUCK Espanyol !!!!!!
P.S. I see the Real whores are at it again..Schuster interested in Huntelaar. Sadly , I don't trust the Ajax brass . FUCK REAL !!!!!!!

Article just said Real want another forward Zlatan Milito and KJH on their list but KJH cannot play in the CL. This article was in a spannish paper .
They would have to pay more than the 27 m euros for Wes for a player who cannot play in Europe.
Hope I am right it is just that everyone on this site remembers 31 August 2004. The night we gave away Zlatan on the cheap with no replacement!!!!

I believe MvG said nobody is leaving . I saw a 40 million figure in an article , but don't know if that is him putting a 40 million tag on the Hunter or him saying the Dutch equivalent of Huntelaar isn't leaving , not even for 40 million.

Ajax won't sell any more players, that's for sure. What Van Geel said (the '40 million remark') can be freely translated as: "We won't sell any more players, not even if some club offers a gazillion euros."
KJH will stay. Don't worry.
The problem is: most clubs in Europe feel that way about their squads. Most clubs have sold and bought - and all they want now is to keep their squads intact. That's why it is so hard for Ajax to buy a successor for Sneijder.
But they're working on it. As hard as they can.

Madrid aren't satisfied with having two teams, they wan't to have three. Schuster thinks having more and more players will help him play better. Anytime he loses a match, he asks for more players. I bet if he loses the madrid derby this week he will ask for one or two more.
There are reports he signed Heinze as well.

As far as I know they're only looking for a left-footed offensive midfielder, who can also play on the left wing (Riera was just that).philippe schreef:so we are still looking for replacement for Sneijder, plus a left winger, is that it ?
Ajax understand that Wesley Sneijder as such can not be replaced without making the team weaker. That's they are trying to do things in a different way, tactically. I see their point: if you try to replace Sneijder one-on-one, you are guaranteed to make the team weaker. You may expect the creative 'heart' of the team to beat elsewhere than the 'Sneijder position'.
This has happened throughout Ajax history. For example: in 1992 our number 9 was Stefan Pettersson, a striker who preferred to play with his back towards goal. He was good at holding up the ball and laying it off to, preferably, Dennis Bergkamp, who was our 'number 10'. Bergkamp was fast and explosive. He was supposed to score goals, even more so than the actual centre forward (Pettersson).
A few years later, Louis van Gaal had two totally different types: Jari Litmanen for the 'number 10' position and Patrick Kluivert as the 'number 9'. Same position, but very different tactics, for the simple reason that the 'number 9' (Kluivert) was now the fast, explosive type, whereas Litmanen was more of a midfielder than Bergkamp ever was.
In other words: same formation, same ambitions, but the tactical 'accents' were different, because of the available - and their specific qualities.
We can expect something similar now: the 'number 10' position will be used differently than last season, when Sneijder was still there. Perhaps we can expect the 'creative heart' of the team on the flanks, rather than in the centre. I don't know. Point is: expect changes in tactical details.

The situatión with Riera at Espanyol is exactly the same as when Wesley was here. Espanyol dont want to let him go, Riera saying that he does not want to leave, and Ajax offering a lot of money..acording to this: http://www.as.com/articulo/futbol/paso/ ... ftb_2/Tes/
Riera will sign a new contract with Espanyol and will be declared "untransferable" wich means Ajax has to start looking elsewhere....and the clock is ticking.

BRING IT ON !!!!...
Well consider this:
Ten Cate is familiar with the 4-3-3 of Barca.
Giuly---Eto'o---Ronaldinho
So maybe you could play like this:
Kennedy---KJH---Suarez
But we had Xavi as a major creative force as well. And then Deco...
___________
Riquelme I have seen many times and I think he is fantastic. All he needs is motivation. Only if he was mentally tougher...He would've been better than the likes of Zidane. One of my favourites outside of Barca.
