New Players for Ajax

Yeh...though I really hoped for Defour but Oh well.

Riquelme should be considered, at least a loan or something.

Holly Shit! you know...I cant believe I am hearing this...Riera linked with Ajax...this really isnt the Ajax way..the Ajax way is to find hidden stars...Im sure other bigger clubs in spain, well bigger then Espanyol are linked with him. I say go for Engelaar and hope the best

I would rather them splash for Engelaar and Motta. Engelaar because he'd be imposing in the center , he is skilled enough to be Oranje caliber , and he and Kennedy have some have played together ...with at least moderate success. I like Motta because I think he and Gabri would put defensive teeth in the side. As for Riera , HtC knows the Spanish game so I trust him on this. That said ,I still don't think Riera wants to take what he sees as a step back...10 mil or not.

Well the club record transfer fee was for Huntelaar who was not exactly unknown. And then over last few year we have signed Stam, Davids, Perez who were all names. Ajax have always tended to buy the odd named player, even back in the 70s.

Problem with only buying hidden stars is that the fans at the arena demand success and if you only buy hidden stars hoping they turn good you ran a big risk if they are not. If you look at some of the hidden stars we have bought - De Mul, Mitea, Manuchurian etc - they have not exactly so far set the Arena alight, and it is doubtful they will.

With this large amount of money I would hope that the board use it wisely and buy a mix of experienced and potential talents. The experienced players can be used to bolster the team immediately whilst bringing on the youngsters who will be used to replace the experienced players like Davids, Stam etc who are no spring chickens in coming seasons

if somebody else has already brought this up then please excuse me, but... why is steven pienaar wasting his time on loan on the everton bench? why isn't he here in amsterdam taking over from wesley sneijder?

Why not Pienaar? if he gets back his good form from Ajax days and practice
a bit on his shooting from long range he can the man to replace sneijder
he was my favorite back when he was at the club.

Speaking of Trabelsi, he is a free agent at the moment. Sign him, stick him in right midfield. He's still only 30, should have another couple of seasons in the tank.

Everton have suspended Van der Meyde because he's acting the maggot. We don't need him. The last thing we need is some more average wingers anyway.

If we play a 4-4-2 he could do the same job as Jenner does for AZ, pushing wide when required and providing great crosses for for the strikers.

Although, being a free agent and 30 years old, he's probably sniffing around for his last big pay packet. Can't see the Ajax board offering Hatem megabucks to come back to Amsterdam.

I wonder why Man City let him go...

Trabelsi did not play right back that much last season as Micah Richards , a young english talent , played there.

Cannot believe Trabelsi is still unattached.

I'm not sure we need players unable to shine with the likes of Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund or Everton. Staying on the bench or stands of those clubs is not exactly a greater achievement than playing for Charlton or Norwich if you see what I mean...

Riquelme is up for sale by villareal, they want to sell and according to the press Tottenham offered 15m euro.
I think we should offer 17m and get him as soon as posible. Why the hell our main target right now is riera, a left midfielder as we must find a number 10 playmayker . This is a huge opportunuty for us , as riquelme is the perfect number 10 and an expirienced player.

Hey , nice to see another Ajax fan from israel
and youre right , with riquelme this will be a much better team
but i think hell prefer the english league over the dutch.

I could see spending the euros on Riquelme if he'd be a two or three year player and not just a one year rental.

I've seen Riquelme with Boca ( v. River in Buenos Aires ) and Barca ( in the States and A'dam in pre-season friendlies ) and think he would address one need as well as any player on the market not named Ronaldinho , Lampard , you get the picture. But ,we'd still be short the replacement at left mid . I still think Ajax want a longer term replacement for Davids and aren't sold on Maduro's one half rise of the Phoenix.

Speaking of left sided players , Ajax Netwerk and VI , I believe the former quoting the latter , are saying Ajax and Albert Riera have agreed a four year deal . It appears the parties are waiting on Espanyol. Mind you , I'm an American looking at a story in Dutch the same way Dracula , or his countryman Bogdan Lobont , look at crosses .

Another tidbit , VI and others indicate we've some foot in the Albert Luque saga.

Wasn't Luque a song by Suzanne Vega ? " My name is Luque , I live on the second floor" . Seriously , I know he was decent at Deportivo La Corunna and shitey at Newcastle , but I wonder if any link with Ajax is so Ajax can tweak F-word or PSV , who are linked with the player , and drive the price up.I mean , surely a Luque at Ajax plays behind Huntelaar , unless HtC wants a 4-4-2 , and gets as miffed at lack of time as at Newcastle .

He is better than Riera but Riqelme is not consistient. When he is good, he is good. When he is not, he sucks. That is why they want to get rid of him. That said, he is better than anything that we have right now. However, we will never pay that kind of money even though we have it. We are cheaper than Arsenal!

I think he's better than Kinki was . A Riquelme at he worst is still likely to make one or two appearances in a match that can positively impact a match. Hell , even St. Wesley had one or two stinkers in his time. About the greatest contribution Kinki made was leaving. Definitely a bigger fk threat . I just think he's a long shot. Still think Ajax wants two players , they've said that for some time now , just not a Rent-a-Riquelme.
