SPL , One helluva list you've put together. Thanks. It's just that everything is Becks, Posh, and TomKat at the moment over here. I just wasn't sure where E-Z Ed had gone .It is tough to see thru the gliterazzi's b.s. at the moment.

That's not a problem, Real haven't won bugger all in the last number of years either (before Barça handed them the title this year).ofey schreef:I've just read that Schuster @ Real Madrid has named Rafael VanDerVaart as a potential target to solve their attacking midfield problems. It would mark quite a phenomenal step for Rafael to go from HSV where he hasn't won anything straight to the Madrid giants.

Birmingham's De Ridder: Bruce convinced me to reject Ajax
tribalfooball.com - August 02, 2007
Daniel de Ridder has revealed how he chose Birmingham City over an emotional return to former club Ajax.
De Ridder began his career at Ajax before joining Celta Vigo in Spain in 2005.
"Why Birmingham? The manager," said the winger. "He made it very clear what the plan was this season and what my role would be.
"I know he was watching me in the under-21s Championship, and I had several talks with him. We met in Monaco one time. I was impressed.
"There were other clubs who wanted me. The other that was close was my home-town club, Ajax. But Birmingham was the most convincing one for me.
"The Premiership is a dream challenge for me. So, altogether - the manager, the role, the league, the city - it was right."
The Dutch whiz knows he'll be targeted by opposition defenders and he's ready to get kicked.
"That's the passion of England, that's the mentality," he said. "It's good to be passionate in games. I just have to make sure I am in top shape, good condition, and then I will keep my head up."

They'll probably get him for 1.5m euros in 2009 if they still havent solved their problems, I doubt Real are willing to splash the cash now especially if theyre still thinking of buying Robben which may be more than 25m eurosofey schreef:I've just read that Schuster @ Real Madrid has named Rafael VanDerVaart as a potential target to solve their attacking midfield problems. Van der Vaart
Valencia have offered HSV 14 million euros for Rafaël van der Vaart, but HSV don't want to sell. VDV, however, really wants to go: Spain has always been his dream and Valencia would be the ultimate thing for him, 'cos his mum and his grandparents are Spanish - and from the Valencia area.
"I really want to join Valencia and it would seriously hurt if I have to stay here," he is quoted saying in local newspaper, Hamburger Abendblatt.
I can feel a conflict coming up...

Re: Van der Vaart
There's a lot of mind games going into these things isn't there? Valencia have the advantage of playing in a higher profile league than Hamburg so can always use that to entice players but VdV's Spanish family links are also well known so there's an added bonus for Valencia. Nothing particularly wrong in that, it's just strange as nothing's admitted - the average fan reading that story in the paper would be thinking "oh, isn't that a coincidence.....", until perhaps they thought again.....Kowalczyk schreef:Valencia have offered HSV 14 million euros for Rafaël van der Vaart, but HSV don't want to sell. Would be interesting to see VdV in Spain anyway.

His name was mentioned in another thread, but... where is Trabelsi these days?? He was in England last season, but didn't get regular playing time, and I haven't seen his name turn up on a team this season. Kind of a shame that he went from being such a huge force at Ajax to relative obscurity now.
