Ajax Fans Around the World

Anyway, I'm now not the only Ajax fan in South East London :cheer:

Is that normal in England? Cause All my English friends perfer PSV from Holland, the Japanese bend for Feyenoord cause of Shinji Ono, while the older generation of Dutchies at the embassy perfer likes of Go Ahead, Zwolle, Volendam etc. and it's me and other young lads that go Ajax.

To be honest I'm not really sure. Apart from the guys who post on here (and some others from the same group who don't), I don't really know any fans of any Dutch teams. From peoples' second (or third) favourite teams though, I'd say Ajax are the most popular.

At work most football fans know about Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord and it depends on their favourite English team which team they follow. Like ManU fans seems to be drawn towards PSV because of vNistelrooy and I've had a few Reds asking about Feyenoord because of Kuyt. But regardless their interest in other Dutch teams, Ajax is still the team that attracts most. They can't believe Ajax didn't make it to the CL, because you know, Ajax is an institution here in England. And they can name most players of 1970-1973, 1992-1995 and can remember the great CL run we had in 2002 while they wouldn't know shit about other Dutch teams only the fact that they exist and they might sign a player or 2 from that team.

In Poland football fans prefer Feyenoord. Our supporters' scene is rather anti-semitic, so Ajax is "an enemy". Most of fans here are rooting for ADO den Haag (because they fans have good relations with Legia Warsaw's supporters). But I'd say that they are not "fans" par excellence - they usually don't care about the scores, position in the table etc. Most of them are fans only because supporters of both clubs are friends (ADO) or the club is "anti-Ajax", just like Feyenoord.

But if you mean the supporters which are interested in scores, players, club's history etc. then Ajax is - in my opinion - on the top of the dutch clubs in Poland. There are more people watching the website of polish Ajacieden, writing on a forum... Ajax fans here are well organized, we have scarfs, flag, shirts. A few of polish Ajacieden are quite regularly on ArenA, some of them are almost on every game (those which live in Holland), including away games.

There were a big boom for Ajax in the 90's here, a lot of young people which were interested in football used to love Ajax. Now our club is not so popular - those which supported AFC change their minds (what is actually very stupid thing) and they started to follow other teams. It is hard to make the new fans if you don't have a big success, but there are still small groups of kids which love Ajax's history etc.

PS: One thing I know for sure - PSV is definitely not popular club here ;) .

ok so here in israel ajax definetely rules
couse of a few reasons. the main reason of course is
the jewish connection .
Just this summer Ajax supporters helped maccabi tel aviv supporters
to fight some palestinians in some training game so we love you
and because of the fabolous history the older generation ( 20+) mostly like Ajax . some of the young bloods prefer mostly psv because of their succes
in the champions in recent years .
