Yeah, he was substituted, but I must say: I thought he had a good performance today. He was a bit shit against Italy and Denmark, but today he did well.Henk de Gier schreef:he played but was substituted in the 2nd half for Edson Braafheid
It needs to be said, though: Hofs and Castelen (both cockroaches) were superb, especially Castelen.

By the way: Huntelaar's stunning goal against France made him Young Oranje's top goalscorer of all time!
It was his 16th in Young Oranje. Before the there were three players who scored 15 goals for Young Oranje: Roy Makaay (Vitesse, at the time), Arnold Bruggink (Twente/PSV) and Huntelaar (AGOVV/Heerenveen/Ajax).

Oh man, Castelen.... This guy is great. I wish he had been selected for the real Oranje, just like Huntelaar. From what they deliver, they're better than Ruud has been at Manchester this season.Kowalczyk schreef:Yeah, he was substituted, but I must say: I thought he had a good performance today. Yeah, I thought he was crap in the first games... (absolutely terrible against Denmark), but yesterday... wow. Very good performance - and not just because of his two goals.ZoefdeHaas schreef:Since when did Hofs get super energy? :eusa_liar:
I also liked Castelen, Luirink and Braafheid (who was good as a sub).

Two interesting Oranje games tomorrow...
At 15.00 CET Marco van Basten's boys will play Australia in Rotterdam. At 20:45 CET it will be time for the final of Euro 2006 for U-21 teams: The Netherlands vs Ukraine.
Interestingly, there are some striking similarities between the Euro 2006 tournament for U-21 teams and Euro 88 (which Holland won at the time). For starters, Euro 2006 has eight participating teams (two groups of four). The 'real' Euro tournaments had the same 8-team structure until 1992. Just like Holland in '88, Young Oranje started their campaign with a very disappointing defeat against a side from Eastern Europe: Holland lost to the Soviet Union in '88, Young Oranje lost to Ukraine in 2006.
After that it started to improve spectacularly. They made it through the group phase and booked a heroic triumph against the favourites in the semis: West-Germany in '88, France in 2006. Holland are now in the final against the team they lost the first game to: Ukraine (in '88 it was the Soviet Union). It is written in the stars: Holland will win it...

Man-o-man, am I looking forward to this one. I really think Australia will find this one a little (read: much) tougher than against Greece.Kowalczyk schreef:Two interesting Oranje games tomorrow...

Guus has been getting Australia to play 'more Dutch' in their passing and possesion play, but given that Holland have been doing this for the last 30 odd years and have a few more stronger players overall AND given that vB has said that he will field his strongest squad, I am slightly worried about a hammering.
Fingers crossed its an entertaining game with no injuries for both sides.
For the record, Aust will still probably be withouth Kewell (at least for most of the game) and Tim Cahill whose dodgy knee flaired up and will more than likely be rested.
Thats an interesting point Ko.Kowalczyk schreef:At 20:45 CET it will be time for the final of Euro 2006 for U-21 teams: The Netherlands vs Ukraine.

Hofs with goal number 3. :D
beat me to it Ayman :D
Game over .... presentation will be in a couple of min's ... sopcast stream was pretty good. Nice first goal from KJH .. nice finish from Hofs for the third ...
Ukraine lucky not to have a player red carded on the penalty offence; deliberate hand ball which prevented KJH from netting.

The U 21 game is on channel 5 this Thursday so I will catch up with KJH goals.
In my Daily Mail today it reviews every team in the WC and states who they are like in English league. For Holland they are compared with Wolves!!!!!
Most teams are compared with Premier teams even rubbish teams like Trinidad . I am not sure which planet the writer is on. I am sure Wolves would like just one of the Holland squad.
Anyone who sees a Mail today check it out to prove I am not winding you up.
Holland will still do as well as England even with the group of death.
