according to spanish paper El Mundo Deportivo, Gabri has finally decided his future. He will talk to press tomorrow (if I have correctly understood ) and the rumours are all towards Ajax. Not a first class player, but I am absolutely glad if he comes. then go for davids and in my opinion the transfer market in entrance should be over.
then we have to concentrate on selling grygera (sigh..) and someone else (charisteas, I am afraid, you know I like the good old Harry) to take some cash back. good work mister van geel. :xyxthumbs:

In addition to Orange Goblin's post: in the interview with El Mundo Deportivo Gabri pointed out that several clubs are interested, but that he would prefer either Villarreal or Ajax. Villarreal's interest is not very concrete, he admitted, so Ajax are definitely in pole position for this dude.
By all accounts the Barcelona players really liked working under Henk, so he might want to move to Amsterdam with him.

maybe we need a backup as ayman says, but maybe we have it: lindenbergh can easily play there, maybe also schilder if ten cate works on this. and don't forget vermaelen..
not essential a LB in my opinion, but the two midfielders we all know: edgar and gabri. and perhaps a young number 10, defour, added progressively to the first team just like schilder, anita and sarpong. this would be my program!

I agree with orange goblin re: the versatility present at Ajax . I think Ajax need to add teeth to the midfield (Davids) and perhaps, but only perhaps, some offensive spark(Landzaat). We already have Sneijder,Perez, Maduro, and even Rosales(if we go 4-4-2) who can play in mf and provide spark.I would prefer steel to compliment their flash. We have Emanuelson on the left . Boakye has shown he can go forward on the right. Ogararu is supposed to be able to go forward, but is a wildcard in my mind as I've only seen his fair to ehh performances against Boro on the tube.

Gabri can play in any position you want him too, including left back, he is very versatile and can be used as a utility player on the bench. But i dont think he is good enough for a starting position.
By the way his contract end on June 30th so he would come to Ajax on a free transfer  guess that's good.

It's bargaining. Crystal Palace claimed Andy Johnson was worth $20million, but are letting him go for $8.5million. Essien left Lyon for much less then they said they would sell him for. Never will a club pay the actual valuation for a player.AsgAarD_xxx schreef:According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Genk want 8,5 mln euro for Defour! If it's true, tell me - is that guy as tallented as Pele or Maradona, or Genk's board such stupid? I don't believe that we are able to give for him almost the same money, as we have given for Huntelaar.

Do we really want Gabri who is a reserve at Barca?
If we sign Davids Defour and Gabri we still have Sneijder, Maduro, Lindenbergh, Perez , Krohn-Dehli in midfield plus of course Sarpong Anita and even Schilder(as he played defensive midfield for Dutch u20and was highly rated)Vertoghen is also coming through as well having played for the reserves already at 18 years
I know Perez can play wide left etc and the last 4 named will still be reserves but this will be too many midfielders and I just hope there is no hidden agenda like selling Sneijder???

a comment about robles from an atlas fan on bigsoccer:
Like it was already mentioned his only fault is that he is short, but he doesnt lose a lot of balls in the air against players that are a liitle taller because he has a pretty good vertical. Atlas usually plays with three in the back and when he plays he is usually the one in the middle, same position he played in Toulon. That seems to be where he is best at because he is great at covering for the other two backs when they get beat, he is also great at anticipating forwards. Despite his small stature he does not get pushed around. I have also seen him play rb and defensive mid. I think where he would have the most success is at defensive mid because he does have a great shot from far as well as he is great with the ball at his feet. He also seems to be a good distributor of the ball and I think he would excel at DM
