Landzaat is overrated and he will block the progress of players like Sneijder and Maduro. If Davids comes Sneijder will have to concentrate on the rightmidfield position, Landzaat and Maduro would be too much competition.

I like Henk ten Cate's frankness. Unlike some managers who never admit talking with anyone, at least he has said he's talked with Edgar Davids.

Also, noticed several rumours of Gabri to Barca's derby rivals, Espanyol. :xyxthumbs: I'd rather have Davids or Landzaat, so Gabri to anywhere would be okay.

Yep... I don't believe that Ajax could agree on that proposal. It will be very, very stupid to exchange young and tallented player for a veteran, who could play at most 2 seasons. On the other hand - Babel is permanent reserve player, so I think he would like to join Tottenham...

Does Ryan Babel, who hasn't earned a consistent first eleven spot at Ajax, really think he's going to get a better shot at Spurs? If his advisor is selling him on such a move, he, the advisor, should be drug tested.

Time for the lad to bust his ass and prove he is a consistent pro and not a hot and cold running talent.

The funny thing is that Babel has been proving that he is a consistent pro over the last two months or so. He has been working on his technique with a personal trainer outside of his regular training with Ajax and in my opinion he's worked hard and played quite well when coming on as a substitute. Further more, he hasn't whined about being on the bench.

A big :xyxthumbs: for the Ryan Babel I've seen over the past two months.

I think we'll all be able to predict a lot more about Babel's future in a month or so's time. He in the World Cup squad, if he has a good tournement then Ajax will practically either have to play him or sell him, obviously opportunities for the latter will be increased as we are likely to get more/better offers.

Babel for Davids is just plain stupid as already said. I can't believe it's ever seriously been suggested, presumably a bored journalist who needed to fill a couple of columns or so.....

Sporting Life stated Spurs might like to exchange Davids for Babel as Spurs want a left sided player.!! Babel might have played on the leftside but he is a striker.

I am not sure where Ajax will fit him in next season as we will play with Rosales and either Mitea or Perez wide. With KJH as striker I am not sure where Rosenberg fits in let alone Babel.

Picking Babel for the WC has not done Ajax any favours as the kid now thinks he has made it and will want regular footy next season.

Back to Davids I have read that Spurs want money for him!! Surely we will not have to pay money for yet another 33 year old who has 2 years left in him !

Surely we will, as he still has a contract with Spurs.

And my personal opinion is that Davids could be one of those players that keeps playing for a while.

it will be good if davids returns, but not on that prize. babel is one of the most talanted sturmers in europe.

If Edgar Davids and Denny Landzaat are the only option for Ajax at the moment, I start to worry. I think it will be almost impossible to buy them - if Tottenham want money for Davids, I suppose that Ajax would give at most 2 mln euro, but - as you wrote - it won't be the deal of our life... Denny Landzaat is much more expencive, so AZ won't sell him for less than 5 mln.

It could happen that our first DMC will be Hedwiges Maduro, and - unless we buy Davids or Landzaat - Anita will be reserve player.

According to eredivisie.pl, Ajax want to buy Mexican player - Luis Robles. He is 19-year-old central defender and plays in Atlas Guadalajara.

Robles isn't a regular in the first squad yet, but Atlas' youth academy has produced some great defenders over the years including Barcalona's Rafael Marquez and Mexico's youngest member of the world cup squad: 19-year-old Aguado. Here are some stats on young Lius:

Well, the mexicans have been working really well on their youth teams. We saw the results in the last U 17 world cup when they became the champions. I'm a bit concerned about the kid's height: 1.69 Don't think he'll grow much.

i'm being told by some mexican friends that he plays very mistake-free and has a cracking long shot... seems the only knock on him is his height, but there have been several recent top defenders who were short (cannavaro, cordoba, etc.)
