I think that with Gabri and Ogararu we'll fill the missing slot, the RB position. Of course the Spanish can play also in midfield, but there we need also another kind of player and my best option remains Davids. In fact Ten Cate is reported to say (if I am not wrong) that we need 3 more players. But then what will be of Defour and Mendes da Silva? Are we still interested?
O tempora o mores
Too many players? With all the people leaving this summer we don't even have 20 players left who where regulars this season.ZoefdeHaas schreef:Gabri is good. But not that good. From Barca I wouldnt mind Ezquerro, Maxi Lopez or loaning Iniesta or something. But don't we have too much players nyways? Esp with some youngsters coming

No way Barca would let Iniesta on loan anywhere. He was brilliant in the last few games of the season. Maxi Lopez and Ezquerro would be possible loan targets I guess, but I'm not sure if they are the ones needed at Ajax at the moment. On the other hand, if Maxi would want to join Ajax I wouldn't say no...ZoefdeHaas schreef:Gabri is good. But not that good. A lot will depend on how many players we sell! Charistaeas, Grygera are likely to go and Babel will not want to sit on the bench again.
I note on the websites today that Fiorentina want Sneijder and KJH and also KJH is on Barcas list ( along with about 8 others including Zlatan). Sneijder has said he wants another 2 years here and as for clubs wanting KJH well they could have got him on the cheap 4 months ago.
All these clubs wanting KJH is getting boring as they know they have nil chance.
Sorry going off subject but we need another quality midfielder and a right back
I asked my son about Gabri, as he watches every Barca game but he says he has never seen him as he never plays. Still think Davids is the answer.
At present guys like Boayke, Timisela and Schilder have been involved with the first team since January and ought to be good enough as standbys to Stam, Vermaelen, Heitinga, Urby plus a new right back. They might buy another young left back but that should be the defence.
As for midfield we have Sneijder, Maduro and Lindenbergh plus Perez and Krohn-Dehli(he is injured again and I not sure why we bought him back) . We surely need 2 more provided the Ities keep their hands off Wesley.Sarpong and Anita will feature next season and where does Aborah fit in ?
I do not expect anymore forwards or wingers coming in.

We didn't buy him, I think. I think he was out of contract and Ajax just offered him a deal.SPL schreef:Krohn-Dehli(he is injured again and I not sure why we bought him back)
We won't see him back. He was a major, major troublemaker and a very negative factor in the Young Ajax squad (in fact one of the reasons why Young Ajax were so terrible in the first half of the season). Everyone is glad that he's gone, so don't hold your breath waiting for him...where does Aborah fit in ?

Checked the rumour mill on Ajax Netwerk again. Question: On their homepage, does it say that Landzaat would be an option AFTER Davids and Gabri? If it was me, I'd put Landzaat first. I believe he's relatively close in age to Gabri AND he actually steps onto the pitch and, as the old saying goes, "kicks a ball in anger".

Personally, I prefer Davids. I think his qualities are the most complimentary to the players we already have and are likely to sign.
In my eyes, Landzaat is the type of player who is good to have in your team when the game is going well, but not the type that will pull your side through if things aren't going as planned. Also, he doesn't have many defensive qualities.
Swedish newspapers today report that Wilhelmsson are the target of several French clubs. Aftonbladet write that Nantes has offered him a four year contract while Expressen quotes the agent saying that PSG and Rennes are after Wilhelmsson's signature.
He would have been a great signing for Ajax and perfectly fitted for the winger position.

Ladies and gentlemen, you can expect a news report some time soon on Ajax's signing of Romanian right fullback George Ogararu (26) of Steaua Bucharest. The first reports that Steaua and Ajax have a deal popped up in Romania yesterday. Today Dutch news sources such as De Telegraaf also claim that the clubs have reached an agreement. According to De Telegraaf Ogararu is already in Amsterdam for his medical today.
This dude is a right fullback. HTC has said that Jan Kromkamp (Liverpool) is absolutely not an option. He did admit that Denny Landzaat (AZ) could be a option for midfield, but he HTC's is third choice behind Davids (Spurs) and Gabri (Barcelona).

Yep, that's true... But don't forget that Davids really loves to hunt not only for the ball, but also for legs of rivals ;). But I would like to see him back at Ajax.orange goblin schreef:Davids for all that represents: experience, charisma, a ball hunter
Landzaat for his age and his skills in the offensive play.
Hehe he's not young... Landzaat is almost 30, so I think it's his last chance to change the club and play in well known mark in Europe. The only thing that can change his mind is proposal from a top club (or rather club from a top league)... I would like to see both of them in Amsterdam, but I know that the worst option is also possible (I mean Gabri instead of Davids and Landzaat).
