It has been confirmed. Ronald Koeman has signed a contract with PSV Eindhoven for 2 years. He will begin work from sometime in July.

God if Barcelona is two goals down after 85 minutes I hope Arsene Wenger will let him in and try to not be a total asshole for a change.

Bless you Dennis, you're my personal greatest of all time.

Koeman to PSV should add more drama to the Ajax- PSV rivalry. Nevermind PSV-F-word and Koeman v. Koeman.

Great! Great!

He will slowly but certainly destroy them like he destroyed us. In his first year he can take advantage of Hiddink's work and do reasonably well. But then he'll start making his own decisions (formation, transfers) and it will all go tits up.

And they have no money. And I hope he'll accept Jan Wouters as his assistant.

Wonderful news. Cheers! :bier:

Jesper Olsen

Bericht door Kowalczyk » di mei 09, 2006 3:45 pm

This is sad news... (from Sky Sports)
OLSEN SUFFERS BRAIN HAEMORRHAGE

Former Manchester United and Ajax winger Jesper Olsen is in hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

The 45-year-old Dane, who moved to Australia in 2003, has been taken into a Melbourne hospital following the sub-arachnoid haemorrhage.

"He remains under observation and will undergo further tests," a statement from his Proactive Sports Management Australia company reads. The cause of Olsen's collapse is not yet known, and he has yet to undergo surgery.

The diminutive winger shot to fame after a spectacular goal for Denmark against England in the 1982 European Championship. He had a world class reputation when he moved to Manchester United from Ajax in 1984.

Although he won the FA Cup in his first season at the club, it was an otherwise frustrating time for the Dane at Old Trafford, and he left the club in 1989.

Olsen heads the Proactive Sports Management and Fun Football company in Australia, providing young footballers with grass roots training.
As usual the English press only focus on Olsen's English days, but he had his big break as a footballer at Ajax. He joined Ajax when he was 20 and spent three seasons here (1981-1984). Olsen played 103 official games for Ajax (85 in the Eredivisie, 12 in the Dutch Cup and 6 in UEFA competition). He scored 27 goals in total, was an absolute fan favourite and was nicknamed 'The Flea', because he was so small.

I ordered the Ajax History DVD the other day and some of his best goals are on it. He is one of the first Ajax player I remember from when I first fell in love with the club as a young kid.

Get well soon, Jesper.

Jari Litmanen played his second full 90 minute game for Malmö FF in the Swedish league yeasterday, after his 1098 (?) injury. That's good news. But that ain't really the good news. The actual good news is that he was incredible. Not often do you see a player dominate as much as he did yesterday. I watched the game on TV, and man, his touch is still unbelievable. Those passes, that vision. Ah, as a football lover there's nothing to do but enjoy. I have a feeling even the visiting team enjoyed his magic yesterday.

After some wonderful assists in the first half he received the ball in the area and fired a shot on which MFF's nigerian striker (don't remeber his name now) scored. After that followed many wonderful through passes from Jari, until he once again received the ball in the penalty area. This time, instead of shooting like everyone else would have, he held the ball, and with a simple touch fooled three opponents after which he passed the ball some 2 meters to a free Afonso Alves. The brazilian stiker had then no problem what so ever to put the ball in the net.

Malmö won the game 3-1, and Jari Litmanen was easily the best player on the pitch. The Malmö fans, and the rest of the Swedish fans has made fools of Malmö FF for signing the old Finn. After yesterday night, however, Jari is considered God in Malmö. Great to see the old Jari back in action, and that he still can deliver, even though he isn't as quick as he used to be.
Has anyone seen the Limecat?

Sad indeed.

A wonderful player with a penchant for scoring wonderful goals. Jesper scored a beautiful goal for Ajax at Celtic Park in 1982 and scored a similar goal for Denmark v's England that very same season. A typical Olsen goal would involve him dancing his way past two or three defenders before despatching a shot into the opposition goal.

My favourite Olsen goal is the opening goal in the 8:2 win over Feyenoord where he cuts in from the right wing and heads across the Feyenoord penalty box, taking out two or three defenders, and fires a rocket of a shot into the top left corner of Joop Hiele's goal. He argueably scored a more spectacular goal in another encounter v Feyenoord, but to score such a beautiful opening goal in what would prove to be Ajax's record win over their greatest rival takes some beating.

All the best to Jesper.

Reports in England indicate that Everton is already hoping to sell Andy Van der Meyde (he has only been there for 9 months), and their asking price for him is 2.5 million euros.

I wonder what his career would have been like if he had stayed at Ajax a few more years. It probably would have really taken off.

Oh wait, he would have been playing for Koeman. Never mind.:nooo:

A quick update on Litmanen again. He just beautifully culred a free-kick into the top right corner and left the keeper with no chance as Malmö FF defeated the Swedish champions Djurgården 3-2 away.

Even though Djurgården is my team in Sweden, it's still nice to see Jari keep up his good form. He was also involved on both of the other goals, with a header pass on the first goal and a cross on the second.

After a game-fixing scandal, italian police make investigation. Yesterday they have searched Juventus' club building and also homes of Zlatan and Cannavaro.

But don't worry- they are not officially suspect of anything. I think these are standard police's actions...

Just wanted to echo bluedaddy19's sentiments re: Ko's great read on the career of Dennis The Menace.

Get well Jesper!!!!!!!!!! I'll always remember the football magazines of the early to mid 80's raving about a truly Great Dane.I enjoyed watching him (and Preben Elkjaer) far more than his more well-known teammates ,the Laudrup brothers.

Wow. That was awesome. Love how the commentator is just saying how Holland is going to win because of the great passing of Frank deBoer right before deBoer passes it to Dennis.
