ok we got Perez who can play as a left winger and Stam who is a commanding centre back, I hope we get Davids, Landzaat and Kromkamp. Now all we need is a back up left back, there is this ukrainian left back, i forgot his name, and a back up right winger, I am not convinced with Tom de Mul, he is a skinny lil s**t, he doesnt belong to Ajax, send him to Anderlecht :worshippy: apart from that I think the jigsaw would be complete, because we can also groom the youngsters slowly into the team, I mean, we are bound to have injuries, we always do.

You have a point OPH but this has more to do with the players available at a certain position, just like KO say's in his post. If you take a look at Liverpool the player's from the UK Gerrard,Finnan,Kewell,Carragher all are starters but maybe the best example is that of Peter Crouch..... he has been a starter for most of the season leaving Fernando Morientes on the bench ( when Cisse has been injured).Over Pasanens Head schreef:Isn't the majority of the Villareal team from Argentina and a high proportion of Liverpool's from around the world?Venezuelan Ajacied schreef: Both Villareal and Liverpool prefer using players from there own country
Same thing happens with Villareal in the case of Jose Mari(Spanish) and Guillermo Franco(Mexican/Argentinian)
BRING IT ON !!!!...
Ayman, Cruijff was known as 'the skinny one' at Barca; the Muhrens and Rensenbrink could also be classified as skinny, Overmars and Maradona are examples of small players. All of these players were outstanding.Ayman schreef: I am not convinced with Tom de Mul, he is a skinny lil s**t, he doesnt belong to Ajax
What am I getting at ? Physical stature aint that important. However, I do agree that de Mul is not good enough for Ajax. :xyxthumbs:
ps: maybe he will prove us wrong. I hope so.
Just back from a weekend featuring a Death Valley trip and two days of Coachella Music and Arts Fest so missed most of the Kromkamp discussion. Just wanted to chime in. In my mind,Kromkamp would be head and shoulders above anyone currently in the picture at right back. I would rather see Heitinga, if he stays, partnering Jaap Stam inside and Kromkamp in the right. With Urby Emanuelson on the left, suddenly or backline is pretty damn strong. Also, didn't Kromkamp have experience in a 4-3-3 before his transfer to Villarreal? I'm figuring no Grygera.

I think he is the final piece in building a formidable, probably Grygera-less backline . It makes no sense replacing a player like Trabelsi with a less experienced or less talented player.I think Kromkamp ,if he gets the time as at AZ, is on par with Trabelsi. Also, Kromkamp is in his prime,26 or 27, IIRC so there is no reason to expect him to come cheap.

Kewell is Australian and Finnan is from the Republic of Ireland.Venezuelan Ajacied schreef:You have a point OPH but this has more to do with the players available at a certain position, just like KO say's in his post. I won't be too much of a pedant but the Republic of Ireland isn't part of the UK either....if you'd said 'British Isles', that would have been more accurate (and correct).Venezuelan Ajacied schreef:
PS: Thats why i specified the UK and not England ;)
I'll stop being pedantic now :eusa_naughty:

Well politically I suppose I might too, but my World Atlas said otherwise......anyway I think we can safely say that Kewell is an Aussietralian so definately not from these parts....bryan schreef:Well, I take issue with 'British Isles' too, but then I'm a grumpy bastard :D
But we can both agree that Harry Kewell's homeland is definitely not in the British Isles. ;)

I felt compelled to correct Venezuelan's error, but thought it best to leave that to you.bryan schreef:Well, I take issue with 'British Isles' too, but then I'm a grumpy bastard :D
Being Scots, I get annoyed when people use the terms Britain and England interchangeabley .... not that I consider myself to be British.
Anyway, no harm done. That's what matters. :xyxthumbs:
I wonder if Dutch people outside of the two Holland provinces have the same thing about interchanging Nederland and Holland. :wk:dws schreef:Being Scots, I get annoyed when people use the terms Britain and England interchangeabley .... not that I consider myself to be British.
PS: I say, 3 million Euro for our man Kromkamp. Tops.

Well, this could all get very intersting. Politically I'd say I was European, but my passport says British and by place of birth I'm English...see, it's not only North of the border that it's confusing. Anyway, this is rather :offtopic: so I'll leave it there. Worse than for Nederlanders/Hollanders, what must it be like for Belguims who I'm sure are constantly mistaken for being from other countries entirely...rather like for Kiwis and Canadians I suppose..... :Ddws schreef:I felt compelled to correct Venezuelan's error, but thought it best to leave that to you.bryan schreef:Well, I take issue with 'British Isles' too, but then I'm a grumpy bastard :D

There is no confusion north of the border. The Scots know who they are. If there is any confusion it resides in England. :DSE6Ajacied schreef:Well, this could all get very intersting. I think Kromkamp would be a great addition. even though he hasnt been able to break in to the starting elleven it doesnt mean he's a bad player. And I'm assuming he has still practiced with the first squad, so despite not having a "game form" it's not like he has been laying iddle either.
