Emmanuelson should play as lleft midfielder, so now we need too very good side backs and Grygera - Maduro is the way to go in central defence if the latter doesn't leave.ZoefdeHaas schreef:No way Heitinga stays, i want Escude to stay too. Sell trabelsi (4 sure) Maxwell too 4 sure, Vermaelen, release Juanfran. We should play Emanuelson-Escude-Grygera-Heitinga.
I wouldnt mind Chari staying, or at least going on loan.

Thank you for this - it is just that you have posted many times in the past about getting rid of Rosenburg without explaining why. All I was asking, not unreasonably, was for your reasons, as myself and others in replying to your posts had put forward our reasons for placing Rosenberg ahead of Charisteas. In any reasoned arguement / discussion people will always put forward to substantiate their reasoning, you have now done this - dont agree with you at all but at least can appreciate your side of the arguement rather than a one line point of view such as "Sell Rosenberg".philippe schreef:Rosenberg spends most of his time on the pitch losing the ball, missing the target, and hitting his defender. He has no significant experience of top games.jamcocteau schreef: maybe we could understand where you are coming from.
Charisteas is hard working guy, playing for the team, and he has played for Greece and in Bundesliga. More experience and more potential.
You may feel free not to share my opinion without me demanding explanations. ;)
From my own point of view I would rather that Ajax try to keep the 3 main strikers - Hunter, Chari and Rosey - and let them battle it out for the main spot or spots. In any competitive sport, competition for places can only be good as it keeps players on their toes. The major problem in football now is the ego of players which as soon as they are dropped they are demanding to go. If the stories in this case about Charisteas are true I am disappointed in him - if he is as good a player as some think then he should not have a problem retaining a first team spot.

O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.
More experince, absolutely. But more potential? Don't agree there. I think Rosenberg has a great deal of potential. I'm not so sure he is the perfect no. 9 in a 4-3-3 system, but he will become (if not yet) a better footballer than Charisteas.philippe schreef: Charisteas is hard working guy, playing for the team, and he has played for Greece and in Bundesliga. That's what I think. Obviously Ajax believes in Markus as well.

I think Harry shouldn't leave..he has experience, work ethic, plays for the squad, physical strength (one of the few in Ajax nowadays) and he has started to score... I am not saying that he must be a starter, but that he can be very useful to our goals.
I would prefer rosenberg loaned just for a year, and babel, harry e the hunter struggling for the central forward slot, or even for playing togheter sometimes in case of 4-4-2..
anyway the real ajax problems now are not in the forward line, but in defense (we need at least a RB, but who?) and in miedfield to replace pienaar and de jong..let's hope in van geel

This was inevitable: in this week's issue of Voetbal International Chari is quoted saying that he wants to leave Ajax this summer. He has given his agent orders to look out for a club in Germany.
Charisteas sees no future at Ajax. He's being a gentleman about it, though: he understands that Huntelaar is doing the business (and much more than just that) and that he has nothing to claim.
We should try to sell him this summer. And then, Ryan Babel can become the man behind Huntelaar, get more playing time as a #9 -- and STOP MOANING.

I do no think we should keep Harry, not because I dislike him or think he sucks, but because I think that he deserves a better destiny than sitting beside game after game, I understand why Huntelaar is the starter that is quite obvious. But why does he have to play for 90 minutes every time? Why do not give Harry the last 15 minutes in most games? I think we owe him that. As it is now I understand harry very well, and I wish him all the best now when he has decided to leave.philippe schreef:well, we have to keep either Babel or Charisteas, although I wouldn't mind to see Anastasiou again when Huntelaar will be unavailable.
Babel, well I do not know, I just do not know where to put him, and he is to will stop developing as a backup.
An other´thing: K.: Why can not you see the months in the date line for the messages? I was confused when looking at the earlier messages, something was wrong and then I realised that they were not even from this month.

I think Harry should stay, he is a great professional, has work ethic, and will accept the role of second/ third choice. He is also a different kind of striker from markus and KJH and could be useful... I also think that selling babel for six millions or so is very better than keeping him on the bench without his approvation and with only the 1-2 millions from harry..we sell a sad player and with his money we buy the two we still need, what's wrong with this?

Yep, it looks like he's staying! On the interview in ELF he said that he is 100% sure that he wants to play here at least one year more. Charisteas said that Ajax has got a new coach and all the players have the same chances to play in first squad. He also said that he knows that Huntelaar is a great forward, but he's ready to fight for a place in Ajax with him. And in his last words he added that he would like to score 25 goals in the new season.ozzerdibazio schreef:any more news on whether he is staying or not? I hope he is staying.

That's the spirit. Well done, Chari. It's only good for KJH if Charisteas is seriously breathing down his neck. Two strikers on fire, doing the business whenever they're on the pitch... Doesn't sound too terrible.
By the way: hats off to Charisteas. I have great respect for that guy. He joined Ajax as a European champion and Greece's great Euro 2004 hero. Press and fans didn't dig him at all in his first months. And last season he was mostly a substitute, but played tremendously well whenever he was brought on. And he never moaned. Always worked hard in training. Always positive. There is not a teaspoon of arrogance inside this guy.
Good to have him. And good to keep him.

Totally agree. His feet were cut-off by the press, the moment he signed for Ajax. Nobody saw him actually play before, but suddenly they all had an opninion. He's not the typical Ajax-player in sense of his expression. But he can play a good deal of solid football. Let's not forget that he saved Danny Blind's ass a few times last season!Kowalczyk schreef:That's the spirit. Well done, Chari. We have to keep Charisteas for sure. After Huntelaar he is the best striker in the Ajax squad. Babel his time will come, and I think is beter for him to focus on left and right winger. Rosenberg isn't good enough I think. Mayby for some tactics Charisteas is even better then Huntelaar.
1st attack:
Perez--------Huntelaar--------Rosales
Mitea--------Charisteas-------Babel

Here's hoping history repeats itself!! :xyxthumbs: The last two times we had a striker from Greece as second ,or third depending on Babel, choice striker , Ajax won the league. Machlas was a super-sub in the 01-02 side and Anastasiou was super-sub and all around class act for 03-04's Kampioen .
