Yep, Ananas seems to be the nickname of Anastasiou on the Ajax Netwerk chat. BTW, Ananas is also the french word for pineapple.

Interesting bit FootballUnlimited.com's "The Knowledge" site about someone called Sonny Pike....

"Whatever happened to Sonny Pike?

James Dart
Wednesday February 15, 2006

"Whatever happened to Sonny Pike?" asks Dan Williamson. "I'm certain that years ago I watched a documentary about him and learned that he was England's brightest-ever prospect. I am also sure that he trained with the Ajax youth side."
Sonny - the nephew of ex-Tottenham striker Mark Falco - became semi-famous after was invited to join Ajax's Academy of Excellence at the age of seven. Sadly, as this website explains, his dreams of a professional career ended a couple of years ago. "Sonny is currently living near Dundee, and is studying psychology at Dundee University. He found the pressures of top-class football too much, and in 2003 decided to pursue a more regular career - having been privy to sports psychologists, he decided to follow that path. Nonetheless, he still has a fervent passion for the game, playing Sunday league football for Dryburgh Saints, as well as weekly five-a-side fixtures against other students."

"He is currently training for a Scottish FA coaching certificate, and as part of this, he coaches two primary school teams in the area. Although he doesn't support a local team, he goes to matches regularly, purely for his love of the game. Sonny says that he's much happier away from professional football. The pressure placed on him by his club, agents, sponsors and, to a lesser extent, the media made him suffer a nervous breakdown in October 2000, whilst still part of the Ajax youth squad."
"I couldn't take it, and I got ill, really screwed up," Sonny adds. "I stopped going to training and stuff, because I was so screwed up I couldn't hack it. Looking back, it's amazing how low I was. Ajax completely forgot about me, they didn't want to know, but as soon as I was better, they acted like they'd always been there for me. I realised how superficial it is at that level, and if I hadn't got back to form I bet they would have turfed me out. That's why I packed it in, it's so unstable. I guess it was during that period that I realised how much psychologists can help people, and I suppose I took it from there."
“If I wanted you to understand it, I would have explained it better.”

Oh wow, that solves a bit of a mystery as he gets a name check only in this months 'World Soccer' magazine (along the lines of "we all remember what happened to British player SP at Ajax" - er, no, actually we don't!)

Thanks MP, that solves a mystery and saves me a Google search. World Soccer this month actually has quite a lot for Ajax fans, articles on de Jong, Lobont and Vlaar :pukey: as well as one on Total Football and dutch football in the '70's.

I'll post anything intersting on here once I've read it all,

His name in greek, however, comes from the word anastasi, which means resurrection.

So he's a pineapple who has come back from the dead. :eusa_dance:

Well, cash can't buy everything. I'm not watching match as don't have Sky (pay) TV but according to reports Chelsea are lucky to have equalised just before half time after going 0-1 down at home to Colchester United of League One in the FA Cup.....

...trust we're all "U's" for the afternoon :cheer:

First of all we all hate the F word.

I have a big hate for Man u and all their players but have to admit I cannot really hate Van Der Sar ( he might be a scummer now but you cannot hate one of our old heros)

As for Chelsea I think they will be beaten by Barcelona( a club with very close ties with us as we have let them have a few of our players in the past )

Your life must be miserable. Gold in 2002, 2003 and 2005 for Djurgården. And sadly, for you at least, we'll face the same scenario this year as well. :D

Not fun at all. Lyon is the only team I truly hate. And for this round, I can say I really root for PSV, just to hear their fu***** president (Jean-Michel Aulas, for those who have the luck to not know him) complains about everything in the world. :pukey:

But PSV is definitvely not a club that wants to please me, not even when they're not competing against Ajax. :nooo:

Lyon did not impress me at all. One red card was the minimum. P$v deserved at least a draw (1 cross bar; 1 post, …). But their keeper made an terrific blunder on the free-kick.

AC Milan scored thanks to a dubious penalty.

Sadly no comment necessary :nooo: (from bbc website)

"Smith ambulance attack condemned

Manchester United and Liverpool have issued a joint statement condemning the fans who attacked the ambulance taking Alan Smith to hospital at the weekend.
Smith, 25, suffered a broken leg and a dislocated ankle during United's 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Anfield.

The clubs' statement read: "These people aren't real fans of football.

"The actions of a few idiots should not overshadow the efforts of all involved to make sure Alan received the best treatment as soon as possible."

Reports in several newspapers on Thursday claimed the ambulance was surrounded by people who threw stones and bottles at it and even tried to rock it from side to side.

The two paramedics - both Liverpool fans - were described as being "horrified" by the hostility shown once the culprits realised the occupants of the ambulance were Alan Smith and Manchester United's club doctor Mike Stone.

A spokesman for the Merseyside ambulance trust confirmed the attack: "It did not result in any delay in transferring the player to hospital but the trust cannot condone this type of behaviour while administering emergency treatment."

Smith, who later underwent surgery on the injury, was given a general anaesthetic before he left the stadium so was not aware of the attack on the ambulance.

Les Lawson, secretary of the Merseyside branch of the official Liverpool Supporters' Club, told BBC Radio Five Live: "The Liverpool supporters who were actually inside the ground gave Alan Smith a standing ovation as he left the field.

"As far as I am concerned, the people who attacked the ambulance are not genuine Liverpool supporters because you just don't do that sort of thing.

"You never know when you are going to need the paramedics yourself or for a member of your family, so how would they feel if mindless idiots came out and tried to shake an ambulance and throw missiles.

"These are just not genuine football fans. Words just fail you really.

"I don't think the relationship between the two sets of fans will ever improve really because there is a great rivalry and the fans just don't like each other," he added."
