Well, I don't think it will be a problem to get 15 points out of the 5 coming games against bottom of the table clubs (Ko must be depressed today to think we might lose against lousy ADO Den Haag). But does it occur to anyone that we are still alive in the CL ? What about it ?

It will be interesting to read your views after your visit to the ArenA for the Willem II game.

Also: any nice games in lower divisions?

K.
No games in lower divisions on Wednesday - AFC Wombles versus Braintree is on the Tuesday night.
Personally wouldn't bother with any but if I had to chose it would be the Charlton game as Chelsea/Everton one will be just plain crap and would cost you the earth
OPH is right with recommending AFC Wombles. However, I'd say you definately won't get in at Charlton but almost certainly will at Chelsea...at a price though, I think about £48.00 (yes, that's UK pounds!)

I've posted a few messages to a Charlton fan forum and over there the fans told me that there are still tickets (it said so in the official CAFC e-mail newsletter they received today). Officially you have to be a club member, but they said: maybe you'll get one because you're from overseas...

I'll give it a try tomorrow morning, first thing. I tried it with my 'normal' phone today, but it didn't work because it's a special rate number -- and I got a message saying that my network doesn't support that type of number. Tomorrow morning I'll try it with my cellphone...

If I fail to get a ticket I'll go see Broken Social Scene at the Astoria (nice Canadian band). Not going to pay 48 pounds for a Chelsea game...

Well I don't blame you on that one. The papers here are full of the fact that Chelsea for instance are not playing to full houses despite winning every game in sight...they quote the prices as a reason for that (which is where I got the price from).

Surprised about Charlton though, they're not known for rip-off prices......

The cheapest (adult) tickets for the Liverpool game are actually 20 pounds, which is not too bad by English standards. Children and elderly people can get a ticket for 16 pounds. That's cheaper than some of the lower league matches I've been to...

Yeah, I wrote that a bit wrong. The reason Chelski don't seel out is because of the prices - that was the logic I was following, I'm suprised Charlton game isn't full house, especially against Liverpool. Anyway good luck with getting a ticket, £20.00 is not bad at all.

Interesting to see that Celtic are the only club from a 'small' country, probably because they have this insanely enormous Irish following all over the world. They have like 50 fanclubs in the United States alone. So their profit from merchandise is (and always will be) much bigger than Ajax's. But in almost every other respect Ajax should normally be able to compete financially with clubs from Scotland, I would say.

Lyon are there too. Now I understand that France is not a small country, but the french league is not considered a 'big' league as far as I'm aware.

I was meaning that it is not big like the spanish/italian/english leagues, where most of the teams on the list come from.

Still, I did some quick research and the French are actually 4th on the UEFA national coefficient ranking for next season which was higher than I thought they'd be. They're newly ahead of Germany, While the Dutch are 7th behind Portugal, but ahead of Greece, which is an improvement.

Anyway, long story short - You're right. However the Dutch did get more UEFA points last year than the french.

How is that such a good laugh? Aren't the teams in the bottom of the table in France (Strasbourg, Metz etc.) better than for example RBC Roosendaal and Willem II, who are currently down there in Holland.

And aren't the top teams in France (Lyon, Bordeaux, Auxerre) as good as the top ones in Holland: PSV, AZ, Feyenoord.

I for one feel that the French league is of overall higher quality than the Dutch. Having said that, I'm sure the top Dutch teams can compete with the French in the CL and Uefa Cup, but overall: French>Dutch.

And I'm not talking about history and stuff, just the quality at the moment.
Has anyone seen the Limecat?

But the mediocre number 3 was still able to beat the number 2 in Holland last year.

I think that aparta from the topsides in both the French and Dutch league, any other French team would beat any other Dutch team.

On a diferent topic the south american champions league or "Copa Libertadores " as we call it is underway, my friend AjaxPeru must not be very happy since his team Universitario lost to LDQ from Quito Ecuador 2-1 the lone goal for the peruvian team was scored by no other than Gaston Sangoy an ex ajacied.
My home team Union Atletico Maracaibo notched a last gap 1-1 draw with Internacional de Porto Alegre,Brazil's number 2. I was at the game and came back with a sore throat after the late goal. Nice result for us, Venezuelan futbol keeps on growing :headbang: :eusa_dance:.

Its fuuny but everybody thinks that Irish people follow Celtic, you actually find that there are more Liverpool and Man Utd supporters there. Both Celtic and Rangers have more officially registered supporters clubs world wide than anybody else. Think this is just because of the number of Scots who migrate, shit we are everywhere.

Ko, think that Celtic have over 50,000 season ticket holders and the average cost is about the 750 euro mark, that alone gives them a head start over Ajax and any other Dutch club. Plus as you say merchandising is far more successfull than Ajax. As we have talked about previously Ajax are criminally undermarketed on a world wide basis.
O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.
