Former Ajax Players

It's not fair to compare them as they are totally different kind of players. Rosenberg is doing very well at the moment, and hopefully he'll keep it up, but I see the chances of him reaching Zlatan-level very low. Or extremely low to be precise.
I'm sure Per wasn't comparing the two either, but just pointing out the facts.
Anyway, I'm glad on the behalf of both Zlatan and Rosenberg. Zlatan needed the goal yesterday. He's had a great season this far, with lots of assists and he's probably been the most important player in Juventus. But the fact is that he's only scored four goals. Even if you're doing well, that's not enough being first choice striker in Italy's best team. I hope he get his confidence in front of the goal back now, after yesterday's netting.

Has anyone seen the Limecat?
No shit.Steef schreef:Rosenberg will never, even become like Zlatan. :nooo: Even if he bags 20+ next year.
That's correct.I'm sure Per wasn't comparing the two either, but just pointing out the facts.
I was merely having some fun with stats. People are wuick to praise Zlatan for his years at Ajax, the last great no9 and all that.....but fact reamains he had it really tough his first two years even.
I'm very well aware of the difference between the two.
Why do you build me up? BUTTERCUP!
You cant really compare Rosenberg and Zlatan, because they are two different type of strikers, the former is a poacher and the latter is a kind of a play maker, evidently the amount of his assists says it all. Rosenberg is like a smaller version of van Basten, While Zlatan is a smaller version of Bergkamp. I use the term smaller because the two dutch man I mentioned, well you cant really compare many strikers with them.

This guy has almost everything it takes to be a great football player, except the mentality. He's becoming a bit of a clown. So predictable. His first row with Martin Jol is just a matter of time (or have I already missed it?).

As I see Nigel de Jong doesn't have a luck in his new team. In first game he was one of the worst players on the ground (just like Ailton, who came back to Bundesliga)... On the second game HSV lost, Nigel didn't play good again (but that time he wasn't as bad as in his debut), but he was close to score a goal...
Re: Mido
I don't think we can necessarily expect a row between Martin Jol and Mido. Mido becomes a problem when he feels he's irreplaceable to the squad or when he's not happy about his playing conditions. He's happy at Tottenham and he should know he's not irreplaceable.Kowalczyk schreef:Mido says sorry, ladies and gentlemen... (*yawn*)

I hope he gets better and becomes the player that he already believes he is. But I can't say that I'd be surprised if things don't work out for him.AsgAarD_xxx schreef:As I see Nigel de Jong doesn't have a luck in his new team. However, I feel Zlatan is pretty damn close to Bergkamp as it as. Bergkamp never made it in Italy, where Zlatan very much so has. In the case of comparing them it's a matter of Zlatan playing more seasons on the level he's at now. Ohterwise I'd rank them the same.

Sure Zlatan is great, but Bergkamp...
meh :|
Bergkamp had played three European club finals and a European Championship semifinal before the age of 23. Zlatan, at age 24, has yet to play a semi final at the highest level. Bergkamp's highest scoring total in Eredivisie is 25 goals ; Zlatan's is something like 14 goals. However, I feel Zlatan is pretty damn close to Bergkamp as it as. Zlatan's scoring rate in Italy is much more impressive than Bergkamp's. However, you have to consider that Zlatan is playing for a Juve side that is of a far greater quality than the Inter side that Bergkamp turned out for.
I was able to watch Inter on a regular basis during Bergkamp's stint in Italy. Channel 4 (UK) showed live SERIE A on Sunday and a highlights programme on Wednesday: Inter featured regulary. From what I recall, Inter's performances were almost equivalent to those of the present day Ajax. Whilst Inter's defence performed to a high standard their midfield and attack, Jonk and Fontelan excepted, performed poorly. Hence, Bergkamp received few scoring opportunities.
Per, your comparison of Zlatan with Bergkamp places too much emphasis on their very different experiences in Italian football. You can't equate 18 months of a career with a whole career. Zlatan, though a great talent, has someway to go before he can be considered to be equivalent or near equvalent to Bergkamp. :xyxthumbs:

Damn straight!!! Dennis, for me at least, ranks behind van Basten as the best Dutch footballer I have seen play (I know Cruyff was better, but I never really got to see him play, except in highlight clips).carcajou schreef: You should never forget that Bergkamp is the most underestimated football genius in history...
His goal against Argentina in 98 was one of my greatest football memories of all time. His goal for Arsenal a few years back (I think against Newcastle?!?), where he tapped the ball one way, then spun past the defender to tap home, was/is one of the greatest goals ever scored.
Bergie, at his peak had everything, deceiving speed, great first, second and third touch etc, probably the best passer of a ball I have ever seen, powerful shot and was a great reader of the game. He sets up as many goals as he scores.
F*cking legend!
HA HA HA.
Guys, come on. DOn't you think I anticipated these replies?
You're sooooo predictable :D .
You all make sense. I just wanted to throw some gasoline on the fire.
P.S I still think it's just a matter of time though. If Zlatan can keep the same level he's at, he will have accomplished as much as Dennis (Perhaps not on national side level, but that doesn't farkin count when you're from Sweden)

Speaking of the devil.... Real Madrid are aperently going to offer 45 million to Juve for him. And they seem prety confident on the deal acording to some newspapers and Magazines. One of them even stated in their first page "Ibrahimovic el proximo Galactico" wich means "Ibrahimovic the next galactico". Here`s the link in spanish:
http://www.prensalibre.com/pl/2006/febr ... 33633.html
It also says the the team from the spanish capital is set to sign 5 other players that include Lucas Podolski, Ahley Cole and Christian Poulsen. Madrid expect to pay more than 100 million on all five players.
Hope nobody has posted this cause it is about a week old

I keep saying (but no one listens) Sweden WILL be the surprise team of the WC. Their squad is strong and on their day they can beat anyone...and this has nothing to do with the soft spot I have for the country of sweden, or the fact that I am trying to learn swedish etcAyman schreef:Per said:

I can't see Sweden surprising anyone -- most people I talk to respect them and their talents tremendously. They played pretty well in Portugal a couple of years ago, and were unlucky to lose to Oranje in the quarters. And they made it out of the "group of death" in the last WC. So I think most people will be surprised if they don't do well this summer.

Until Real find defenders who can defend and some teeth in midfield, sadly this sounds like Ajax as well, they will continue to drop points. And I'm not sorry for their difficulty one iota.

Yeah, fair call. I guess using 'surprise' for sweden is a bit unfair to them. It would be more of a surprise if they didn't do well. It just seems most people I speak to, or reading 'WC favourite' teams in papers etc, Sweden never seem to get a mention.aveslacker schreef:I can't see Sweden surprising anyone -- most people I talk to respect them and their talents tremendously. Yeah, I agree that Sweden are able to be one of 'black horses' and qualify - with bit of luck - to semi-finals. If they will be qualify from 1st place in group (which is possible, because England didn't play good in qualifies) then they'll play with 2nd team in our group. And I believe it will be Poland. We have always problems with Sweden, so it will be a miracle if Poland will beat them...
seedorf
can someone please tell me about the dutch view of the career of clarence seedorf? i think he is one of the best midfield players i have ever seen. i first saw he and davids play together in the dutch team that beat ireland to reach the euro finals in i think it was '94. why is he not considered for the dutch team now? why was he sent home from the euro finals in england?
