Wesley Sneijder

Wesley Sneijder is in de duel FC Twente - Ajax uitgevallen met een hamstring- blessure. Als hij een scheurtje in de hamstring heeft, moet Ajax hem wellicht vier tot zes weken missen
From four to six weeks without him would be a severe blow. We would strand very little chance against in the CL .

Yeah, Sneijder will miss Utrecht, Heerenveen (cup game) and almost certainly Feyenoord as well. Three tough ones. That sucks.
Yet, this is (relatively) good news. It looked quite bad and it could have been up to six weeks had there been a tear in his hamstring. Which is not the case. Two weeks is not too bad. At least he'll be back for the Inter games.

According to some reports , all taken from Italian press, Milan are over to discuss a summer transfer for Wesley. They also fancy De Jong and Juanfran.
I take it we can treat this as newspaper's making up stories?? The Italian press must be as good as the english press for transfer stories for big clubs.
The story even says we value him at 10m euros!!!
On more reaalistic players going I will be surprised if De Jong is still here come the weekend and Yannis must also go as he did not even feature on the bench
in either game this month and we only had 17 fit 1st teamers available for the games.

Sneijder just extended till 2009 if they want to buy him it'll cost them more than 10 million..........Give us 20 mill and we'll think about it if not we can wait till 2008 and grab the 10 million offer.SPL schreef:According to some reports , all taken from Italian press, Milan are over to discuss a summer transfer for Wesley. Confirmed by many reliable sources now (including NOS Teletekst): Ajax's medical staff decided today that Wesley Sneijder needs rest. He suffered from hamstring injuries in recent weeks and they won't go away completely. He will be rested for a few weeks. Which means - for tomorrow, anyway - that young Jeffrey Sarpong will start as Ajax's 'number 10'.

Appears to be rumours that Ajax will sell him to AC Milan. Is there any truth in this or just the Italian press making things up ??.
After all when he signed a new extension he said words to the effect that he did not want to go to somewhere like Chelsea etc to sit on the bench. If he went to Milan I think he would be a bench warmer.

Ajax are reported to be interested in contracting Jesper Groenkjaer. Ajax have Two left wingers for next season , namely: Perez and Mitea. If Ajax sign Groenkjaer it would be reasonable to assume that Mitea( having just signed a contract extension) and Groenkjaer will be competing for the left wing position next season. This would lead us to assume that Perez will either play on the left of midfield or as the number 10.carcajou schreef:Rumors that have been in the French newspapers as well these days.... X'Cdws schreef:Rumors, rumors,rumors...........................
No mention of this on AT5 or NOS sites.
No doubt, the above will serve to add fuel to the fire of rumors surrounding Milan's interest in Sneijder.

I must say: the rumours about a possible Sneijder move to AC Milan are quite persistent. He was quoted in the Italian press saying that Milan's interest is "flattering" and that he feels he's "ready for such a move."
As you know Sneijder recently extended his deal ('til 2009) and Danny Blind more or less promised him a great future as Ajax's number 10, captain and key player.
But, according to the rumours, Sneijder is not happy with the fact that Ajax bought Kenneth Perez. Blind claims that Perez was bought primarily as a left winger (#11 position), but he frequently plays as a #10 for AZ. And let's face it: Blind's future at Ajax is not exactly guaranteed, so the same goes for the promises that he made.
Question is: how would we feel about it if Sneijder left? I'm not sure. I think he's a good player, but what if we can get like 15 million for him...? I don't really know what my opinion would be, to be honest...

Well rock and roll is such a crazy drug,
It wraps you up in a great big hug

He would be lost in Italy like Van Der Meyde ( currently a sub with Everton )
But if he wants money and is quite happy to be a regular substitute then so be it. We must make sure Milan pay a decent transfer and not over 5 years like Zlatan's.
If he went do any of you see him making it in Italy? I certainly dont.
He will be in England playing for some crap team like Fulham or Everton in 2 years. A lost talent like VDMeyde.
At least VDVaart and De Jong had the sense to go to Germany as a possible stepping stone to England or Italy.
2 more years with us and maybe he would be ready for Italy. That would give us time to develop Sarpong and Anita.

Even though the transfer money would be nice, Ajax can't sell EVERY good young player EVERY time a "bigger" club comes sniffing. Sometimes, sure, but keep doing it every time and Ajax will continue to simply be the satellite feeder club for Italy. Imagine if Ajax had kept Chivu and Ibrahimovic for another year or two. And after both Chivu and Zlatan were sold so early, I'm inclined to fight to keep Sneijder for another couple years. It would be very unfortunate if Perez is the reason Sneijder leaves in the summer, because while Sneijder may not be the best #10 in the world, he's certainly a far superior option to Perez.

I dont get Sneijder's point i mean he says he's not happy with us buying Perez so he fears he will end up on the bench( wich seems dificult givens Perez age) but then what's the point of going too Milan where he has to battle it out with the likes of Pirlo,Seedorf and Kaka for the # 10 position ??? It just doesent make sense right now. If he wants a starting job on a club than that club is certainly Ajax. What does he expect??? That we rely upon our 17 year old's whenever he gets injured ????.
