LONDEN - Basketballegende Dennis Rodman maakt zaterdag op 44-jarige leeftijd zijn rentree. Niet in de Verenigde Staten, waar hij vijf NBA-titels veroverde in zijn imposante loopbaan, maar in het Engelse Brighton. Rodman tekende donderdag een contract bij de Brighton Bears, voorlopig voor één wedstrijd.

With pitching as the great equalizer that doesn’t exist in any other sport, the Tigers’ 35-5 to start the 1984 season may never be surpassed in baseball. On the basketball side, the 1972 Lakers started the season 39-3 after winning their 33rd in a row and finished 69-13. Nobody has ever come close to sniffing numbers like that in baseball.
Take the 35-5 a step farther. Since Rasheed Wallace arrived here almost two years ago, the Pistons are 119-39, a rate of over 60 wins a season.
The 1996 Bulls started 41-3 and wound up 72-10. And like the Lakers, the Bulls also won the NBA Championship. And whenever there is discussion about the best teams of all time, those two are always included.
Were the 17-0 1972 Miami Dolphins really the best football team ever? Probably not, but they have to be included in any discussion along those lines.
For us, 35-5 is a great story in its own right. But for the Pistons players and coaches who produced it, it’s only part of a bigger story that hasn’t yet been written. The rest of the story is how this three month blip in history will fit into the legacy of these players and the franchise as a whole. How long will this group stay together? Will Ben Wallace and Chauncey Billups make the long-term commitments that Rip Hamilton, Rasheed and Tayshaun Prince have made?
If they follow through and win this year’s title -- which all teams with stunning starts like these have done -- it’ll give them two titles in three years. Will they win more? Will they do what Jordan’s Bulls did in the 90s? Do they even think about that?
We watch, enjoy and speculate about their greatness and what they’ve done and might yet do. But what are their goals? Are they as committed to each other as we’d hope? Do they talk among themselves about surpassing the “Bad Boysâ€

ESPNKidd, Nets stop Pistons' winning streak at 11 games
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Jason Kidd had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the New Jersey Nets past Detroit 91-84 Tuesday night, snapping the Pistons' NBA-best 11-game winning streak.
Richard Jefferson and Nenad Krstic each scored 19 for New Jersey (23-20), which snapped a four-game losing streak. The Nets won their ninth straight game at Continental Airlines Arena.
Chauncey Billups led Detroit (37-6) with 30 points, including 6-for-6 from 3-point range. The Pistons, who entered the game shooting 46 percent from the field this season, were 30-of-82 (37 percent). Leading scorer Richard Hamilton scored 19 points, three below his average, but shot 8-for-24 from the field.
New Jersey led 85-81 with 2:00 left after Kidd found Vince Carter for an acrobatic alley-oop dunk. Billups answered with a 3-pointer from the top of the key to pull Detroit within a point, and Krstic fumbled a pass out of bounds at the other end for New Jersey.
But Tayshaun Prince committed an offensive foul on Detroit's next possession, and Kidd made a 3-pointer with 48 seconds left to give the Nets an 88-84 lead.
On Detroit's next possession, Carter stripped Hamilton on a drive to the basket, and Kidd made two free throws with 36 seconds left.
Detroit trailed by as many as 10 points midway through the third quarter as Kidd sank a 3-pointer and two jumpers sandwiched around a jumper by Jason Collins, his only points of the night.
New Jersey failed to score for the final two minutes of the third but still finished the period with a 67-62 lead as the Pistons shot 7-for-19. Hamilton heated up after a cold (3-for-12) first half with three early baskets but the Pistons went four minutes between field goals before Hamilton closed the quarter with a baseline jumper off an inbounds pass with 1.5 seconds left.
After allowing Seattle, Portland and the Los Angeles Clippers to shoot at or near 50 percent from the field in their last three losses, the Nets tightened up on defense and held the Pistons to 37 percent shooting (16-for-43) in the first half.
Neither team led by more than six points in a closely played first 24 minutes. Detroit held a 40-36 advantage after Billups' technical foul shot after the Nets were whistled for defensive three seconds. New Jersey then scored 10 of the last 12 points of the half, six by Jefferson -- including a fast-break dunk on which he switched hands and threw it down lefthanded -- and four by Krstic. ^Notes:@ Detroit began the evening as one of two Eastern Conference teams with a winning record at home and on the road. Epiphanny Prince of Murry Bergtraum High School scored 113 points in a game Wednesday, breaking a national prep record previously held by Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller.
Prince, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, led her team to a 137-32 victory over Brandeis High School.
"After I scored 29 points in the first quarter, I didn't think much of it," Prince told The Associated Press in a phone interview late Wednesday night. "After I had 58 points at the half, and especially after having in the 80s after the third quarter, I just decided to go for it."
Prince had 58 points at halftime for the Lady Blazers, ranked No. 2 in the nation by USA Today.
"At the half, we thought she had a chance to break the record so we just let her go," coach Ed Grezinsky said.
Miller scored 105 points for Riverside Poly in California against Riverside Norte Vista in 1982. She went on to become an All-American at USC.
"It's an amazing thing when an individual does that," said Cavaliers star LeBron James, who was told about Prince's performance Wednesday night after Cleveland beat New Jersey. "I don't know who she is, but maybe we'll see her in the WNBA. For that matter, the NBA."
Two-time WNBA MVP Lisa Leslie scored 101 points in a half for Morningside High School in Inglewood, Calif., against South Torrance in 1990. South Torrance refused to play the second half.
Prince, one of the nation's top high school players, is headed to Rutgers next season. Her previous high this season was 51 points.
"It was efficient," Prince said. "It wasn't like I missed a whole bunch of shots. That's what made it even better."
The boys' high school record is 135 points set by Danny Heater of Burnsville High School in West Virginia in 1960, according to the National High School Sports Record Book on the National Federation of State High School Association's Web site.
In his stunning 81-point game last month, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant was 28-of-46 from the floor against the Toronto Raptors.
The NBA record is 100 points in a game by Wilt Chamberlain in 1962.

Nou ja, dat is wat overdreven, want de Hoofddorper, die vier jaar college bij de Texas Longhorns achter de rug heeft, speelde vrijwel niet. In vijftien wedstrijden kwam hij zegge en schrijve tot 36 minuten, waarin hij acht puntjes maakte. Die totale productie kwam tot stand in de enige twee wedstrijden, waarin hij meer dan tien minuten speelde. Teramo staat momenteel veertiende in de Serie A.
