Agreed. He was great.Steef schreef:He may be MotM for his contribution in both goals, but to me Galasek was Ajax' outstanding player today. By far.
I was also impressed with Heitinga and Vermaelen (again). Sneijder worked hard and is developing into a leader, but he didn't stand out today. Boukhari was sh#t.
Oh well. What else is new...?

Why - absolutely no logic or sense in what you have written.philippe schreef:Now that we signed Huntelaar, the only logical and sensible thing to do is to sell Rosenberg.
See no reason whatsoever to sell Rosenberg, especially as he is coming onto his game. Think a Rosenberg / Huntelaar partnership would be excellent. Two reasonably quick players on the ground linking up. If anything is logical it would be to sell Charisteas. But if Ajax, have any ambition it would be to hold onto all 3 strikers and let them battle it out to find the best combination.
If anything, it spells the end for Yannis.
O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.

I could not have said it better myself, I agree. Your conclusion make sence. Rosenberg takes every chance to score at the moment, and with one more player of reasonable speed there will be even more room for him, and more goals of course. Charisteas scores some goals now, but Huntelaar and Rosenberg is more suited for playing as a unity. :xyxthumbs:
One more thing...philippe schreef:Now that we signed Huntelaar, the only logical and sensible thing to do is to sell Rosenberg.
You wrote in another forum that you wanted Yannis to play beside Charisteas in the next match, I did not think you were serious, but now it turns out to be so. What does your hate come from? Maybe you should open your eyes and see that Rosenberg now does what a striker should do; scoring. Almost in every match by the way.
You want to keep Yannis? Seriously?

Is this seriously the order in which you are rating our strikers in.philippe schreef:After the winterbreak, we have :
1-Huntelaar
2-Babel
3-Charisteas
Do we need number 4 ?
If it is, and being serious here, how can you rate Babel as No 2, who I think will eventually play as a striker but in my opinion, has not done a lot this season wherever he has played to merit an automatic first team spot. Babel is young and still has a lot to learn I think, especially about getting a first touch which to be honest is atrocious. Not the finished article yet but will get there with hard work and dedication. Babel in my opinion is going through that phase in his career which is common with a lot of players who break through at a very young age and think they have made it. It is like anything in life, you are never the finished article, always lots more to learn and hard work ahead.
In my opinion, definitely have Rosenberg in front of Charisteas here as he offers more to the team overall. Charisteas isnt a bad player at all and his scoring rate at the moment is great but just think that between him and Rosenberg, Rosenberg offers more option for Ajax.
One question, what is that you do not like or rate about Rosenberg. Can you please expand as till now you have not presented any evidence as to why you think Rosenberg should be sold.

Good comment one again, jamcocteau.
Babel as number two is ridiculous, Rosenberg as number four aswell. He is without hesitation better than Babel and he is the kind of player needed when Huntelaar comes. Huntelaar is better at doing what Charisteas does while Rosenberg has a different way of playing, which will become valuable.

What??? First you say we should sell Rosenberg simply because Huntelaar is on board, and now this is your list? Everyone is entitled to their opinion... I just happen to completely disagree with yours.philippe schreef:After the winterbreak, we have :

Ajax doesn't have the wingers right now to play 4-3-3, therefore we must play 4-4-2, and therefore we must keep hold to whatever decent central strikers we have. I would have Huntelaar, Rosenberg amd Charisteas on the team sheet every game, two of them starting up front and one to come off the bench.
And if we're making a list, this is mine:
1. Huntelaar
2. Rosenberg
3. Charisteas
4. Babel
So, to answer your question, if we're playing 4-4-2, then yes, I do think we need four strikers on the first team. Yannis can go.
Danny Blind can make 2 lists.
One for 433;
KJH
Harry
Yannis
And one for 442;
KJH
Markus
Babel
Blind wants to be able to play two systems and he would like to keep all forwards except for Yannis. Van Geel wants to sell Harry in order to raise money to help pay for wingers, a midfielder and a defender.

man this is getting heated up !! It's been a while since weve had this type of striker problems, let's put everything in perspective here:
Rosenberg: This guy has been picking up his game form, scoring a bunch of goals in the last few matches, he is dynamic, quick and skilled plus he is young...in a 4-4-2 formation he is the ideal second striker.
There is no way in hell ajax are going to sell him, it's only been half a season since we signed him and he still has a lot of potential plus he has not been that bad as of late.
Charisteas: The problem with this dude is not his work ethic or his lack of goalscoring, its the lack of overall ability that includes good pace and passing skills, in a 4-3-3 he is the man who can play it the best, but that is just not enough, Ajax have been talking about selling him now that "the hunter" is coming...problem is they are no teams interested in him(except Sunderland) at the moment, my gut feeling tells me that he will stay till the end of the season, score some more goals inproving his value and then will be sold to whatever team showes up.
Huntelaar: The hype now that its oficial is increasing and that will increase the pressure placed on his shoulders, this guy is still young and now must prove that he can score at a big team like Ajax, can he do it??? I think he can but still... he has to come in a prove that he's the number one guy.To tell you the truth i have not seen him play(problably have but not paid atention) thus i will not describe his playing characteristic's.
Babel: The kid can play and score we all know that...but he has not been given the chance to play striker for quite some time now, his play at left wing has not been very convicing either hence his drop off from the first team, he still has loads of potential and skill, he just needs to gain confidence and be given a shot for him to excell.Selling him has not even crossed ajax mind( I hope).
Yannis: For while he was our go to guy and to be sincere here he got the job done when needed but Ajax is about youth, it's about potential, and Yannis is serously lacking in both departments.Sorry but Yannis time is uo in Amsterdam( and he knows it).He might be sold to an eredivisie team in the winter break or just released at seasons end.
Now their are three quality's an ajax striker must have to be able to be in the team: 1)Youth(no more than 30) 2)Skill(dribbling,passing etc 3)Potential. Now if we take a look at the 5 strikers we currently you can see that Yannis is the odd man out and if we want to narrow down to a top three then in would turn out to be something like this:
1)Rosenberg
2)Babel
3)Huntelaar( This is based on the fact that he still has not shown anything her at ajax, with time he can quickly go up that ranking.
BRING IT ON !!!!...

If (I repeat: if) we have to sell either Charisteas of Rosenberg, it should be Chari.
Why?
Because KJH and Harry are more or less the same type. Huntelaar is a 'better version of Charisteas', so to say. I think Huntelaar/Rosenberg could be a very good combination: KJH as the tall, strong, typical 'Ajax #9', and Markus racing around him, taking advantage of the gaps.
KJH/Harry would be a less interesting combination because they are similar types.

As far as your 'If' goes, no 'If' because we simply need money to solve the existing problems on the wings and at back.Kowalczyk schreef:If (I repeat: if) we have to sell either Charisteas of Rosenberg, it should be Chari.

I do agree that Markus should not be sold. Partly because of the reasons you mentioned, partly because he is a promising player and he's only been with us for 3 months.
After Sikora, Soetaers, and the Pienaar experiment, I shudder at the prospect of purchase of another wing, but throwing money at that and right back seems logical. Well, along with allowing several transfers sooner rather than later to generate cash.
