Does anyone know if Vlaar actually wants to move to the Spurs? He always claimed he wanted to go to Ajax. My guess is also that he won't play much in his first half year in England and if so he'll be giving up his potential spot in de Dutch World Cup squad. Also he is still young and he seems like the type that would rather stay close to his family for a few more years.
If he really wants to come to Ajax then AZ can't sell him to the Spurs against his will... But I suppose Ajax saying that they're no longer interested in him doesn't help our case much.

BREAKING NEWS
According to Talpa TV it's a done deal: they claim that 'KJH' a.k.a. The Hunter is undergoing his medical tests at the VU Hospital in Amsterdam as we speak, and that he will be officially presented later today.
Transfer fee: unknown.
No-one else than Talpa runs it as news at the moment, but they seem to be quite sure!

My gut feeling is that - somehow - he will not play against Ajax on the 30th (which is, of course, very good news...). Fair chance that Ajax demanded this, as part of the deal.Jinne schreef:The NOS reports it too now. So it looks like KJ will play his last match with Heerenveen against Ajax and one of his first matches with Ajax against Heerenveen. :)
It will be almost impossible for him to play. What if he gets an enormous chance, genuinely attempts to score but misses it...? It would be too... complicated.
Safe bet: he won't play on the 30th.

I don't think Ajax can demand and KJ probably wants to play the game badly too. So if there's someone keeping him out of the line-up it's probably Verbeek who wants to keep away any contraversy. If he plays it will be the oddest day in his carreer though. Only 28 hours away of being an Ajacied, he still has to play against us.
He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy!

Officially - no. But in practice...? My bet is that it's part of the 'gentlemen's agreement'.Jinne schreef:I don't think Ajax can demand
SCH: "We want 8 million!"
AFCA: "7.5...?" (thinking: well, 8 is alright, but let's see what we can do...)
SCH: "No way! 8 million, take it or leave it."
AFCA: "Well... okay! But hey, folks, let's face it: if we pay you 8 million we don't want this dude to play against us next week..."
SCH: "Point taken. Fair enough. We have a deal, gentlemen."
That's how it works, let's face it.
Which he will definitely do. What if he plays KJH and he misses an enormous, crucial chance...? The discussion will go on forever. So if there's someone keeping him out of the line-up it's probably Verbeek who wants to keep away any contraversy.
He will be 'injured' or something on the 30th - mark my words.

Yeah it's classical.... He'll have a cold or something.
Now the question is : why did we get this guy ?
Does that mean that the board somehow admits that the money invested in Charisteas and Rosenberg was pure loss ?
What will happen with Babel ? And Anastasiou ?
I am not saying that signing that this move to sign Klaas Jan Huntelaar who has scored more goals alone that the whole Ajax team since the beginning of the season wasn't smart... But that sure leaves some open questions.....

My two cents...
The deal is: we need three quality strikers - and only one of the three can be a young kid from the youth system (that's Babel). The other two, in my opinion, should be Rosenberg and KJH. Charisteas may be sold. He's scored 6 out of 7 this season, so it should be possible to get the 4.5 million we paid for him -- or something that comes reasonably close.

In a way: yes. I don't think this is the official confirmation that Chari and Rosenberg were bad buys, but I do believe that the board realize what they've done wrong: they bought two strikers who were never (at their previous clubs) known as prolific goalscorers. None of the two was (or ever will be) a 20-goal-striker. They're more like 10-goal-strikers and the board now realize that we need a f*cking hitman upfront.carcajou schreef:Does that mean that the board somehow admits that the money invested in Charisteas and Rosenberg was pure loss ?
Babel is very young and absolutely not the number one. He will have to be patient. That's completely normal. Unfortunately he has already started to moan (via his agent), but why in the name of Sweet Jesus would he have to be our starter at #9...?? He's a youngster. A reserve player who's time will come. If he doesn't understand that, he's overrating himself. What will happen with Babel ?
Plain simple: no new contract. He's gone at season's end.And Anastasiou ?

Oh yeah, of course. No problems there, for the simple reason that he will be an Ajacied by that time, with no allegiance of future commitment to Heerenveen.
What would make it so strange if he played against Ajax on the 30th, is that he would cause himself (namely: the team he will officially be part of 28 hours later...) damage by scoring against Ajax. That will not be the case if he plays against Heerenveen in Feb.

By the way: this is a 100% done deal, people. On Ajax.nl it still says "we're almost there but haven't come to an agreement just yet", but the Abe Lenstra.com website (a Heerenveen fanzine) has quotes of chairman Riemer van der Velde and head-coach Gert-Jan Verbeek. They all confirm it: Huntelaar has been sold. Van der Velde claims that Ajax paid 9 million euros.
Confirmation by Ajax is a matter of time now. This is official.

Now I'm waiting for that time where he won't fit in the system,
and everybody will be on his back, and he'll be disappointing. It's happened before (Machlas).
Remember the proverb : 'Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it'.
I just hope he'll be the exception to the rule, because buying a patch player like in the middle (even if he's good) sounds pretty desperate.....
