Players Leaving Ajax
Moderators: ajaxusa, Kowalczyk, mods
Quite agree with all your comments Ajax have discovered how Bosman works.
The first cock up in late 90's cost the club probably £30 to 40m ( Kluivert was worth £ 15m then and Davids probably £ 10m ) and the current one somewhere near £ 18 m on the 4 players walking out.
One point the article said we had to sell VDV on the cheap as he had one year left. I think we only got so little because he had not played well for 2 years and only a moderate German club were interested.

I am not too sure about that, SPL... The question is: would these guys have signed had the club offered them a new deal?SPL schreef:The first cock up in late 90's cost the club probably £30 to 40m ( Kluivert was worth £ 15m then and Davids probably £ 10m ) and the current one somewhere near £ 18 m on the 4 players walking out.
I am not too sure about that. Trabelsi always refused to sign. After the lawsuit and his return to the team he agreed on serving his contract. But I seriously don't think he would ever have signed a new deal.
Same goes for Maxwell. Pienaar has always been a very difficult case in contract talks as well. And De Jong...? He's trying to save his reputation with the fans by saying that Ajax disrespect him, and that he would have been interested in signing a new deal last season, but frankly: I don't believe him. That's what players always say: they'd rather blame the club ("their offer was disrespectful") than admit they really want to leave. De Jong's an opportunistic prat, if you ask me. I don't think he would have signed anyway.
Mind you: I agree with you that Ajax should have talked to all of these guys last season. Now they're too late. But whether it had made a difference or not...? We can only guess.

I was just putting rough values on them in the open market ie if they were sold with contracts ..
Maxwell was to be sold for £6m last summer but injury is the reason rather than Bosman for us not getting anything for him. If he signed a contract to 2007 then due to this season out with injury I doubt we would fetch so much.
Trabelsi is valued at £4m and of course Ajax knew last summer that he was not going to sign another contract.
De Jong and Pienaar current values maximum £ 3 to £ 4 m each if they still had contracts to 2007 .
Pure speculation of course by me . The major loss of money is Maxwell but we have got a replacement from the youth team in Urby.

Well, according to "Algemeen Dagblad" Nigel de Jong said, that he is going to leave Ajax in the summer (for free!). He said that he would like to go to better league, but first he wants to help Ajax this season.
If it's true story I think it will be better for us to sell him this winter, even for only 3 mln euro... But I hope, that de Jong will sign new contract and he will stay at Ajax. He is important part of the squad now and I don't want to lose such player...

During the last 5 minutes of the Sky Sports News program on Fox Soccer Channel tonight , the presenters did their normal check of the next morning's newspapers/sports news. Several papers due out tomorrow...Sunday...had stories centering on a De Jong to Manure move. Money mentioned was 1 million pounds. As the US edition of SSN runs only 19.00 to 20.00, there was no additional info/rumour, i.e. time frame for the move.

Few words from Blind:
BLIND: DE JONG NOT READY FOR BIG CLUB
Ajax boss Danny Blind is not surprised by Nigel de Jong's decision to leave Ajax but reckons he is not yet good enough for Europe's big leagues.
The 21-year-old midfielder's contract expires in the summer and he has refused to sign a new deal, meaning he can walk away for free at the end of the season.
"I know Nigel very well. He is a guy that goes for the challenge," Blind told AD Sportwereld.
"I appreciate that in him but I personally find that Nigel is not ready for such a step yet.
"Of course I am the Ajax coach and a bit biased but I also gave him my personal advice. If I was him I would choose to play 30 games at Ajax instead of eight substitutions elsewhere."
Ajax may look to cash in during the winter transfer window to avoid losing the player for nothing, but Blind denies punishing De Jong by dropping him after he was left out of the starting line-up for the Champions League game at Arsenal on Wednesday.
"The fact Nigel started on the bench against Arsenal - and I say that with my hand on my heart - was purely tactical," Blind added.
"It had nothing to do with his decision to leave us. In four of the six Champions League games Nigel started from the bench. And that was because we wanted to play with two controlling midfielders in those games - and that's not a role for Nigel."

Agree with Blind. He is not ready and will only be a sub. The Sunday Express have a headline than Moan U are to buy him in Jan for £ 1m. He will make more money but I think it will not do his career any good as he will just be a bit part reserve. If he doesn't get much playing time at Moan u he may not even make the WC !!
As I have said more than once recently , as he does not want to stay here then piss off to Moan U asap.I hope he enjoys being a very small fish in a big sea.

Here's exactly what you said SPL:
Sir Alex Ferguson looks set to sign Ajax midfielder Nigel de Jong in January.
The Sunday Express says Sir Alex Ferguson will land de Jong to begin the rebuilding of his Manchester United side.
The tabloid claims that United have reached an agreement with the Dutch giants and that de Jong will move to Old Trafford for a cut-price fee of just £1million.
De Jong, a 21-year-old defensive midfielder, could have left Ajax on a free transfer in the summer.
But while his coach Danny Blind is resigned to losing him, he said earlier this week that the player is not ready yet to play for a big foreign club.

So much for Dortmund but it can be one of their German mind-games
Borussia Dortmund have denied suggestions they have agreed a pre-contract with Ajax midfielder Steven Pienaar, although they have confirmed their interest in the 23-year-old.
Dortmund are keen to bolster their midfield ranks with Czech Republic international Tomas Rosicky likely to depart the Westfalenstadion in the summer.
Johannesburg-born Pienaar, who has also been linked with Manchester City, seems to fit the bill although Dortmund press officer Josef Schneck was quick to stress the South African had not agreed terms with the Bundesliga outfit just yet.
He told PA Sport: "He is a player who we have been watching for two years now and we have spoken with him but no deal has been done.
"We know he is out of contract in the summer and we are interested in signing him."
With Pienaar's current deal in Amsterdam due to expire in June 2006, Ajax may attempt to offload him in the January transfer window for a cut-price fee.
Schneck ruled out a move before the summer, however, adding: "That is not an option for us."

According to "The Rumour Mill" on the www.Footballunlimited.com website:
"But Ajax striker Angelos Charisteas isn't going anywhere. With only a move to Sunderland on the table, his agent has tried to minimise embarrassment by back-tracking furiously: "There is no possibility, not even 1% of him leaving Ajax in January or next summer.""

As we reverted back to 433 for the last 30 mins tonight and had one striker on the field and 3 on the bench how are we going to fit in 5 if Huntelaar comes ??.
I cannot see either of our greek friends staying. Does anyone think Babel should be loaned out to the end of the season to a club who might play him as a striker and not on the left wing ? A spell on loan to get some goals will do his confidence good.

A little bit surprised idea, right now the agent of Babel has stated that they're shocked when the Hunter will come... maybe it's good, but what about next season? The Hunter and Rosenberg may adjust to fit 4-3-3, and our wingers revive... nothing will change even if we let him on loanSPL schreef:As we reverted back to 433 for the last 30 mins tonight and had one striker on the field and 3 on the bench how are we going to fit in 5 if Huntelaar comes ??.

I think it would be good for him anyway. We need at least three strikers and if our greeks choose to leave, or are sold after the season, a Babel with confidence and in form will be better than the one we're having right now: A Babel only on the bench, that is.akieden schreef: The Hunter and Rosenberg may adjust to fit 4-3-3, and our wingers revive... nothing will change even if we let him on loan
The guy has got talent. We shouldn't loose him yet.

Man this Babel talk is starting to sound more and more "De Ridderrist" if you know what i mean, he is a huge talent lets not let go of him by any means.jakobg schreef:I think it would be good for him anyway. BRING IT ON !!!!...
No way do I want Babel to go , after all he was 19 this week.
Being picked in the Dutch senior team has done him no favours as he may think he has made it. I just think half a season on loan at a club who will plaay him as a striker will do him good and ourselves. I hope we start next season with Huntelaar Rosenberg and Babel as our 3 strikers.
Babel has this season played for Holland as a striker, spent his club time as a left winger , which he is not, and now the club are playing 442 with 2 strikers and he does not even get on as sub.He may be only young but he must be wondering what is going on.

De Jong, being the fiance of Pienaar, is also thinking of joining Borussia, as he knows going to a club like Man Utd limits his play time.
Dumbass. Just stay at Ajax is guaranteed first-team football, better financial situation than BVB, and the people love you! OK so the german league is more exciting, but how exciting is if if youre in a club thats going to end up licking Bayern's piss trail.

Il put a tenner that says de Jong wont make it to the world cup...he is too inconsistent and MVB has Landzaat that can play in his position instead. Anyway there is something serious going on between Pienaar and de Jong, they should come over to the UK, Gay couples can get married now hurraaay!!! :cheer:

De Jong and Pienaar have both officially informed Ajax that they will leave, so it is 100% certain that they will go. Both players are linked with Borussia Dortmund. You'd say that that's not too much of a spectacular improvement: Borussia are no longer a top club in Germany, they are constantly in financial trouble and can only sign players on a free (or very cheap) transfer.carcajou schreef:God forbid that De Jong leave for Borussia. I feel that Pienaar might follow him abroad.
According to the press they talked to Rafaël van der Vaart, who speaks very highly of Germany and the Bundesliga. He loves it there.
Escudé will probably go. I'll give you that one. But Sneijder just extended his contract until 2009:And some other players along (Escudé, Sneijder, Grygera). I feel something weird coming for this summer....

As for Grygera: Ajax have had some talks with him already, and these talks will continue some time soon. Rumour has it that he will renew.
