According to the Voetbal International website he said it on Studio Sport last night. According to the article the club has stated that they made him an outstanding offer to extend his contract and there is no need for him to leave for abroad yet. De Jong's psotion is that things have happened, that he wants to keep behind closed doors, that mean that he will not extend his contract.ZoefdeHaas schreef:According to some mates, De Jong told of TV he was leaving Ajax for sure at the end of the season. I didnt watch it, can anyone confirm this?

De Jong will leave at the end of the season. He will be the 4th player to leave the club transfer free, with Trabelsi, Pienaar, and Maxwell.

Appie, stay strong !
We must get money for De Jong as under UEFA rules compensation is paid for players under 23 who have come through junior ranks.
On the open market he would fetch £4 to £ 5 m but we could get up to £2M
in compensation.!! I believe Birmingham had to pay Arsenal over £1m for Pennant, who is a non international and finished last season in jail on drink driving. De Jong must fetch more than that . I hope he enjoys his new life in Man U reserves. He could easily dissappear at such a big club as he is only going there as a utility player.
Like with Pienaar and Trabelsi I hope he goes in Winter break. They all want to leave so thanks guys for what you have done but do us a favour and go asap. Our rebuilding needs to start next month with these 3 sold.

Going abroad to a "big" club as a young player does wonders for your career. It is a great idea.

Agreed. They should all be sold this January. The club might as well get some value for them and blood some replacements. While they have been good contributors (especially de Jong) the club won't lose too much with them gone.SPL schreef: Like with Pienaar and Trabelsi I hope he goes in Winter break. Yes, but thanks to our stupid management our ship is a wreck (just as we at last made it to the CL 1/8 finals)SPL schreef:

Let's take a look at this:
DeJong to Man United? Will that improve his career? Hardly, They just got knocked out of the Champions League. We don't even know how much longer Fergie is gonna be there.
Trabelsi to Arsenal? He has Lauren in front of him, At Ajax, he'd be automatic if we played with full backs.
Pienaar to Celtic? The SPL is a "real" step up?
What the hell are these boys thinking?

AJACIED
ManU has to start building a new team. Or at least get rid of some players and take in some new, talented ones. De Jong could be one of them for sure. Don't know what to think of his situation over there. Might well be on the bench for a long time, if he decides to chase the money.ofey schreef:DeJong to Man United? Will that improve his career? Trabelsi has been looking for a move a long time. It's time to let the guy go. At Arsenal, I think he'd get time on the pitch for sure, I've never been that impressed by their wing backs, apart from Cole.ofey schreef: Trabelsi to Arsenal? To consider Celtic a "real step up" is just stupid. Ajax is bigger than Celtic, and the Scottish league is not better than the Eredivisie. But Pienaar might need a fresh start somewhere, and I think it would be a proper step for him. He isn't good enough to play for the big clubs in the big leagues. At Celtic he'll get a chance to play CL footie, and get that fresh start he needs.ofey schreef: Pienaar to Celtic? The SPL is a "real" step up?
Has anyone seen the Limecat?
I don't like calling one club bigger than the other (it's a football pissing contest), so I'm not going to claim that Celtic are a bigger club. But likewise, I don't think you can claim that Ajax is a bigger club than Celtic. I mean, the 60,000 seater Parkhead is almost sold out, week in, week out.
In many ways Celtic are similar club to Ajax, a club with a long history, succesful youth system and large following in a relatively small league. I'd say that the two clubs are as big as each other.

"In order to avoid losing players like Hatem Trabelsi on the cheap or free in the future, Ajax general manager Martin van Geel announced that the club will now re-sign or sell key figures well before they enter the final year of their deals."
Does it take a genius to think of this, or is it just that idiots were in charge ?

8th in the league , trouble scoring(not just this season..the period leading to the RKC og of last year comes to mind), a paucity of good striking talent, and more animosity over the last couple years than I can ever recall. One vote for the idiots being in charge. X'C
