it seems that p$v have not recovered from the season transfers, thier level of playing is poor, and they may have a hard time in the CL, and in the Dutch league this season (but they are playing the CL whereas we are not in yet ...)

Yeah, he's currently on training camp with Australia, somewhere in Holland. Which is quite interesting, 'cos PSV look like sh*t at the moment and they have decided they need to buy a few more players. Hiddink can't work the team and he can't think about transfers either. PSV have a part-time head-coach at the moment and no matter how strongly they deny it, this can never be a good thing for a top club. They could use their boss at the moment, but he's simply not there this week.

The press are already asking him questions about it, and it annoys him. If they book another poor result this weekend (they play Vitesse at home) the press will turn his Australia job into a serious issue, and this will cause unrest.

If they lose a few more points we can already give 'em the first kick in the bollocks in the first month of the league. This is promising!

I believe the training camp is in Hoenderloo. The press are raving about it here (and for that matter so are the australian players!). Its about time we had a decent coach...not sure if we have the team though.

For me its win-win...Australia take a quality coach from PSV. Result? Hopefully and stronger Australia and a crappy PSV :)

PS - Hup Holland...no offense to the germans but you suck :eusa_dance:

Hiddink was interviewed about the Aussie team in de Volkskrant: he admitted that the qualification chances for the World Cup are pretty small. The first opponent (I forgot which one) will not be much of a problem, but after that they're up against the #5 of South America. Could be Uruguay, could be Chile, could be Colombia... That will be very tough, no matter who they get.

Hiddink told that he really enjoyed working with this group of Aussies. They're better fun than the Koreans and (unlike the Dutchies...) he doesn't have to push them all the time. Hiddink said: "As a coach of Dutchies you constantly yell 'come on! go for it!'. As a coach of Aussies you constantly yell 'calm down! be careful!'" :D

It could be tough, but there is a pretty steep dropoff in terms of talent after Argentina and Brazil. But then again, every team in the world is a significant dropoff in talent from those two. Australia could likely win the home leg, but would really be up against it in the away leg. Nonetheless, they are a fairly talented bunch, and could pull it off if the could get used to the other team's antics.

To be honest, I would love to see Hiddink coach the US Men's NT after this world cup. He could really get them going places.

Hmm, I have to agree with Zoef here (gasp..what's going on ;) ). I'm not generally that bothered about England games at the best of times and pointless friendlies definately not so I didn't bother watching this one...didn't miss much by the sounds of it - At least Ajax will beat Brondy next week (please :eusa_pray: )

For all i know the Aussies could face "the Vinotinto" in the deciding game to go to the world cup. We tied them in a friendly 1-1 last year. You know what they say hope is the last thing you loose :eusa_pray: .

By the way we lost to Ecuador 3-1 today in a prety bad game  .

Oh well up Ajax

Today was the draw for the first round of the UEFA Cup. For those interested in the Dutch teams...

fe#$%@#rd - Rapid Bucharest (Romania)
Banik Ostrava (Czech Rep.) - SC Heerenveen
Krylja Sovetov (Russia) - AZ
AS Monaco (France) - Willem II

That is not a good draw at all for the Dutchies. In fact, all four of them might crash out in the first round! I guess AZ and F-word have a chance, but Rapid Bucharest and those Russians are typical 'banana skins'. Heerenveen and Willem II are going to get done for sure!

... especially because their boss will be off to Australia and doesn't have time to land replacements before the transfer window closes. This Australia thing is very unfortunate for PSV, to say the very least.

You could see it coming from a hundred miles.

As I have said before...this is perfect for me. Australia get a great coach and PSV lose theirs (well to a degree).

Its win-win for an Aussie-Ajax fan :eusa_dance:

English players in the Dutch league... That doesn't happen too often, but PSV have bought one: Michael Ball (25). He's English but comes from Glasgow Rangers. Left-footed defender. Does anyone know him? Is he any good?

Ball looked good at Everton, got included in the England squad & got a big money move to Rangers. If i remember rightly he got injured early on & was out for ages,im not sure how he recovered form wise but he hasnt been in an England squad since he moved to Scotland.

Den Haag have just signed a player from Palace,Joonas Kolkka,on a free.I dont think Palace saw the best of him because quite honestly he was very average although he scored a couple of good goals.I think he was previously at PSV.

Naw he is pure pish by ra way :D

Seriously, when he first joined Rangers from Everton he was a very highly regarded player and think he was on the verge of a cap call up for some country called Ingerrrlaaand. Received a bad injury in his first season which kept him out for well over a year and on his come back never established himself that much. Rangers wanted to get rid of him over a year ago as part of his contract stipulated that once he played x games at Ibrox Everton would receive another 1 million pounds or so. Instead Ball offered to take a 40% cut in wages to remain at Ibrox.

Some Rangers fans regard him quite highly whilst others regarded him as an over-paid luxury.

Could be a good signing if he recaptures his earlier form at Everton but big question is whether after his years on the Ibrox gravy-train, he has determination to make it again.
O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.

Well that makes two! ADO have a player called Sean Doherty from Basingstoke (hello "EnglishEagle") who came from Fulham FC but seems to have played his only ever league game for the mighty Blackpool :cheer: . (I must have missed that one though - never heard of him)

I believe it was the mental scars left from playing for the "Tangerines" that forced him to recover in a retreat in Den Haag. ;) .Nice bit of homework though SE6Ajacied.
