Not taking a flyer on Coco because he's injury prone? That must be Danny Blind's sense of humor at work.If Ajax was so concerned about having guys on the roster who get injured, we might have enough of a squad for a Futsal side.
I would love to see us take a chance on a player of JuanFran's caliber.I agree with the comments about his heart and remember seeing the same photos on GOL TV.

According to yesterday's "Guardian", Coco is going to Tyneside and had his medical at Newcastle United so we'll soon be able to see his "skills" at work.bluedaddy19 schreef:Blind3 schreef:Not taking a flyer on Coco because he's injury prone? Ajax in for Haestad?
Some transfer rumours from Norway.....
According to the norwegian press Ajax had a scout at the Viking vs Start derby this evening. There seems to be some speculation about a possible interest from Ajax for the young Start midfielder Kristoffer Haestad. However, the article also states that the Ajax representant seemed to be more impressed about the stadium facilities rather than the gameplay. ;)

I personal attended the match and it was no great game from either of the sides. It all ended up in a boring 1-1 draw in wich none of the teams players were really excelling. However I`ve seen Haestad in many games before and I personally believe he would be an interesting prospect for Ajax.

Re: Ajax in for Haestad?
Must have been John Steen Olsen, Ajax's Danish scout. 'He's based in Copenhagen. Almost all of the Scandinavians we've had were 'discovered' for Ajax by him.Surstad schreef:Some transfer rumours from Norway.....

Edit: There's a little report on Ajax Netwerk now...
Er... what the hell does 'Doffen' mean? All major Norwegian papers report tonight that Ajax scout Mühren was in attendance at the Norwegian league game between Viking and Start to Kristofer Hæstad in action. The Start midfielder is nicknamed 'Doffen' in Norway. He told the press that he will not be distracted by the rumors and will focus on his club. He did say he was flattered by the interest from a club of Ajax's caliber.
According to Norwegian press reports the 22 year-old midfielder made a very good impression. He also scored the only goal of the game for Start after only give minutes.

Still alive...
who is doffen
According to our local newspaper here in Stavanger it was actually Gerrie Mühren. Is this some kind of a signal, or??

"Doffen" is the nickname of Kristoffer Haestad. I don`t think it can be directly translated...

That's a real shame, not sure about in Dutch but it doesn't sound too complimentary in English :DSurstad schreef:

Says Blind hasn't called back, so he's going to bugger off back to Qatar.

In lieu of today's development, which pot was probably boiling over several days, I guess Frank can take the silence to mean there were younger, better quality alternatives. Honestly, all younger, more athletic left backs would have to be snapped up before a 34 + year old stop-gap is called in.Old veterans as fill-ins ?Christ I hope Ajax doesn't come to that. That stinks of lower division clubs try to put more butts in the seats or relegation battlers trying to find a little spark to stay up.

he was already playing for Ajax, actually (A1 and sometimes Young Ajax), but he was still on a youth deal. They signed him as a professional now.Cedric_AeF schreef:Ajax have signed a new young player who will play with Jong Ajax : Jan Vertonghen.

In case there were any doubts...from Football365....
Ajax Done Playing In Market
30/08/05
When questioned after a loss to Feyenoord, Ajax coach Danny blind stated unequivocally that the Dutch giants had completed their summer transfer dealings.
Faced with several early season injuries, speculation had been mounting that the manager could be eying some reinforcement.
“No, this is it,” Blind replied succinctly when asked if any more irons might be in the fire. “This is what we're going to work with this year.”
The Amsterdam Arena club recently brought fullback Juanfran over from Besktas, and purchased Sweden forward prodigy Markus Rosenberg from Malmo in July.

Always funny to see... They took that literally from Ajax USA. I translated that quote, but my translation was a bit 'free', because I felt the 100% literal translation in English would have been ugly (something like: "No. This is what we've got to do it with").Manneken Pis schreef:“No, this is it,” Blind replied succinctly when asked if any more irons might be in the fire. “This is what we're going to work with this year.”
Absolutely 100% sure that they took it from Ajax USA (fine with me, by the way, as long as they don't use whole reports without crediting us as the source).

Re: No Coco!
Remember Ajax were linked with Italian left fullback Francesco Coco before we landed Juanfran...? This is how that story ended at the time:
Whatever. Good luck anyway. See you in the Champions League some day.
:D

Coco himself was quoted on Sky Sports saying that he was very disappointed with the fact that Inter weren't very cooperative. And now...? Now he says this!Kowalczyk schreef:Danny Blind confirmed on SBS6 tonight that Coco was offered to Ajax, but he said that Ajax are not interested because he's too injury-prone. Blind said that Coco is not an option.
Yeah - right. So, now he turned us down (rather than the other way round). That's an interesting one. And he also said "no, thanks" tp Newcastle and Liverpool, because he really, really wanted to join Italy's equivalent of RKC Waalwijk... Come on, dude! Do you really think we believe that?Livorno's new signing Francesco Coco has revealed Roberto Donadoni played a big part in him moving to Armando Picchi. The experienced defender, who played with Donadoni at Milan, recently shunned moves to Ajax, Newcastle and Liverpool to remain in Serie A.
"I know the coach Roberto Donadoni as I played with him at Milan," explained Coco. "He's a person I have great respect for and this influenced my choice. I want to make it clear this is a new start for me. I had other options, Ajax, Newcastle and Liverpool, but I told my agent I wanted to remain in Italy. I felt it was too great a risk going abroad. There is a World Cup in ten months and I'd rather play here in Italy." (Source: Sky Sports

Totti is one of the only decent Italian players. You want Italian wankers ???orange goblin schreef:I am italian and I hate fuckin'wankers like coco, totti and many others are.
So there are a few places where you can put your prejudices man, I am sorry.
Players like Gattuso, Inzaghi, Ravanelli are ones, but Totti. Pure talent, man, pure talent. I wish he was playing for us......
meh :|
I'd put Totti very high on the wankers list. Sure, he's talented, but I don't like his way on the pitch at all (read: spitting and acting...)Carcajou schreef:Totti is one of the only decent Italian players. You want Italian wankers ???

Gattuso on the other hand I like. He's got that great 'Davids fighting spirit'.
Inzaghi must be number 1 on the list though. He's a f*cking joke.
Has anyone seen the Limecat?
