I would say that, more important than a few more good players, is to get the talented players we already have playing like a team, with a mission. I don't think that many more players are needed. To me it's a joke that we keep flushing players through our team like a U21 national. We promote youngsters, they play well a few games, get a slump, get sold. We have no continuity, no players that get to feel that they can play bad a game and still have the confidence from the coach.
We do not have a team.
More players is definetly not the answer.

I was on here at 07.00 this morning, go to work and come home to a fully fledged debate.
I've not seen too much of some of our youngsters (certainly not live) but I would say, give the guys a break. I remember how close to the sack I was a 18 years of age for not performing and these are all just young lads. Re De Ridder, I agree, from what I have seen, he has had a slump but I certainly don't think he's a spent force. He's had no consistent first team place at all this season hardly and when he has played it's been as sub. Everyone has slagged players like "king" Yannis for supposed lack of form and the fact that with his experience he should know what he's doing etc. but surely the opposite is true...if we're talking about kids their bound to get "stage fright" or whatever the football equivalent is called and make a few mistakes.
I'm not saying that we should persevere with bad players who aren't up to scratch, just that we should be a bit less hasty in writing some of the youngsters off.
I can climb down off my soapbox now :D

I've just re-read my last post and before everyone jumps on my back, here's basically what I'm trying to get across.
All the youngsters we're talking about are in their late teens / early twenties right. As such, they're probably not fully formed as far as maturity and life experience etc. goes. If they're in and out of the team they're bound to take it bad as opposed to say Anastasiou or someone else of his age/maturity/experience.
I know there's a school of thought that they get paid a lot of money and are paid to perform etc and to a certain extent I sign up to that, certainly re. the older players but on another level, it's hardly their fault how much money footballers get paid and I doubt that Ajax (or any other team) sends the youngsters to "maturity /coping with pressure classes").
I'm suddenly starting to feel very old and wise (or an old fool) typing all this but I just need to get it down "on paper".

When I went to Stockholm a couple of years back I (almost :sad: ) went to see Hammarby and bought the DVD from when they won the league. That was good, I liked the grounds/kits and the atmosphere from when I stood outside the ground trying to find a ticket tout ( :nooo: :nooo: ). I actually got the DVD from Tradera not E-bay and I wanted the main Allsvenskan season highlights but the Djurgarden one was the only one listed. it doesn't matter how big the profit is, as long as it's positive. so van eijden couldn't care less if ajax make a big profit by holding on the the best players and doing well in the champions league, he'd rather make a profit and make it now

Does Blind have any say in who stays and goes, after all it must be very hard to build a team when the board do not want to give contracts to players.
No team has ever been hit as hard as Ajax with Bosman and one would think they have learnt but now we are faced with Pienaar, Trabelsi Maxwell and De Jong going next season for nothing.
If indeed Ajax are looking for profits then why did they sell Chivu to a bankrupt club and Zlatan for a deal that does not pay up for 4 years.
These are not the actions of businessmen but amatuers.

In fairness though, they did manage to flog Andy van der Meijde for a tidy sum. But that was more down to the stupidity of Inter than the business acumen of the Ajax board.

Ok guys, time out! Alot of you are acting like he is the heir to Jari Litmanen. To be fair since his injury he hasnt exactly set the field alite, he has such feable shots even my old aunty can shoot harder then him.
