According to an english paper Arsenal want to loan De Ridder for a year and then buy him. Spurs, Newcastle and the Scum have all looked at him but he is not good enough to get in our team and is rated behind Rosales, Pienaar and De Mul.

I am confused!! Ajax do not rate him but some of the best in England do !!

I've seen De Ridder playing a few games, but I was definitely not impressed. I can't see what a club like Arsenal should do with De Ridder. He's definitely not as talented as a guy like Van Persie.

He had a very good game for the Under whatevers at Villa park a few months back and I think that is why there is so much interest. Also that the Arse only want to loan him also seems to indicate that they are also unsure.
Cannot make up my mind about the guy - always flatters to deceive. Maybe a loan spell would do him good as per van der Meyde.
Who knows, but the coaches that work with him don't appear to rate him that highly.

Trabelsi to F.C Porto?

Bericht door Ayman » do jun 02, 2005 3:33 pm

According to my portuguese sources, Co Adriaanse is lining up a £4 million bid to land Hatem Trabelsi, 28. Since he failed to sign Kromkamp, the £14 million price tag scared them off. Despite recent reports that Trabelsi wants to extend his contract he may be tempted to link up with the coach that signed him for Ajax 4 years ago. I personally dont mind cause firstly we need the money (I think) secondly it will give us money to buy the next african 'wonder boy' Jimmy Dixon, who can play at right back and centre back, he can attack aswell, very useful and he is the ideal replacement for Hatem Trabelsi, who I still dont forgive after what he did to Ajax a year ago. Ehum, where did you get all of these things about Dixon?

I saw him play live this monday and I thought he was quite good. He has potential to be a good defender but I have doubts about right back. I've never seen him play there and I think he's much more of a central player in several aspects.

He's a quite good passer, fast few first steps, follows the opponent well. Mature player.

He's no Chivu, atleast not yet.

BTW, his team conceded three goals so by no means can he be that satisfied with monday's game. :xyxthumbs: :D

Which I was....

No, we don't really need the money. Ajax' financial situation is quite healthy. Somewhere in december Van Eijden announced that Ajax had €30 million to spend on transfers. That's quite a lot for a Dutch club.
There's absolutely no need to sell our best players, just for the money. There's more need te keep hold of this great back, which I personally think is our best player in the squad.

Sikora and Pienaar...

Bericht door Kowalczyk » wo jun 15, 2005 10:14 am

Okay, there's good news and there's bad news...

The good news is this:
http://www.ajax-usa.com/news/2004-2005/ ... ikora.html

Thanks mate, and good luck! :applaus:

The bad news is on VI.nl: Steven Pienaar has turned down Ajax's second offer. The club refuse to give him a salary anywhere near that of the biggest earners in the squad. "There is no point in it this way," his agent is quoted saying.

That SUCKS! Pay this dude properly! And oh yeah: Van Eijden, you really must piss off now! And I mean NOW!

I assume that Sikora is still on loan next season as he still has a hugh contract left at Ajax and Breda are not going to pay him anything like that so we not only do not get any transfer fee but we will still be paying some of his wages.

As for not agreeing to pay Pienaar and De Jong the same as the other senior players what can I say. What a piss poor way to run a football club.

Messrs Per and Ko - talk about kicking a person when they are down. I am really upset and all you two can do is take the p*ss. How hurtful. :redcard:

As to moving my alliegance onto a new player, it will take time to get over this but I am sure another lame-duck will come along soon - maybe I will even take Boukhari under my wing.

As to selling my season card at a discounted rate - no way, as my seat is in the front row of vak425. This is in an ideal situation to make my protest noticed at every home game at what is another major f**K up by our men in grey suits.
First Zlatan and now Victor - do the board really know what they are doing?

You got that right...

What is basically happening here is that the 'suits' refuse to give Pienaar and De Jong the same salary as the great Johnny Heitinga... What the F*** is the problem???

The 5th best in England won the CL.

In all fairness, the best in England are better than us.

Last season winner: Porto

Conclusion: A Portuguese team with no affiliance with Ajax the Premiership, the Eredivisie or the quality of our current players won the CL.

What does this add to the issue of "Why does top English clubs rate De Ridder when we don't"?

If you followed the same logic as for the English clubs, you would conclude that Portugal had the best league last season.

Well with Pienaar on the move probably, I'm guessing De Ridder could be a useful addition for Blind.

And these "elite" teams in England rate him highly cause they've never seen them play, and their scouts suck tbh

What Philippe is trying to say is that Ajax (or another big club from a small country) don't necessarily have to feel impressed by the top five teams from, say, England. Ajax (or Porto, for that matter) can eliminate Chelsea or Real Madrid or AC Milan and - who knows - win the Champions League. It will be an 'incident', but it's possible.

Which is true. Philippe is right.

But you (Per) are also right: at the moment Ajax are nowhere near Chelsea or AC Milan at the moment. We lose at Club Brugge and Maccabi Tel Aviv - that's our reality. Let's focus on improving, so that we win games like those again (Ajax don't have to be better than Chelsea, but we really must beat Brugge and Tel Aviv at all times). Let's not even think about competing with the big boys, cos we can't.

Goal for next season: making it into the Champions League (we're not there yet, remember?) and if we make it, survive the group stage and take it from there. That would be awesome.

No, the logical conclusion would be that the best team in Portugal won the CL. Not than the Portuguese league is the best one. Perhaps better than Eredivisie, but hey - not many aren't. (I never said that winning the CL makes your domestiv league the best one)

I guess it would say something about the portuguese league, but not as much as when a team that finished 5th (and by no means are a top top team in England, not even close to the top three) wins the CL at the same time as another team in England went really far as well (C).

Enlgish top clubs are better than us, I don't even really feel that I have to present much evidence for it.

Logic is a tricky thing, let's not go there. :D

Yay to that.

Our level right now is nowhere near them - right now that is. And that's why it's so funny that they should rate Ridders. Are we or them totally off target on him?

They, I think.

He's a good player, but I must admit that he has not delivered in the second half of last season. The few games I've seen him play his crossing was poor and he did not get past his man.

That U-20 game in England must have been quite something. Probably an outstanding day. If they expect him to be that good every week they will be disappointed.

Consider where P$v were last year at the same time of the year, what the forecast was for them, and keep in mind that they were very close to make it to the CL final.
So all those talks about Ajax being so far from “big names” are just irrelevant.
Nothing is impossible for Ajax (it only takes a few more good players).
