15 May 2005: Vitesse - Ajax
AZ just lost at ADO Den Haag (2-1), which means that we're second!
It also means that the last two games of the season (at Vitesse and at home to Groningen) no longer matter... But we have to play (and discuss) them anyway...

Two things:
1. Ajax will wear the new away kit for the first time for this game (tradition, last away game of the season).
2. We will not get to see Michael Jansen, the left fullback Ajax were reportedly interested in until he renewed his deal at Vitesse. He is suspended for one game due to accumulated yellow cards.

Alright, folks, a quick cup of coffee and then I'm on my way to the ArenA for the departure of the combi coaches. I am really looking forward to this one, as I missed the last two Ajax games (RBC away due to my anniversary with my girl, and RKC at home because I had to review a music festival for work).
I think we'll lose this one, by the way. Season's over for Ajax, but Vitesse can still qualify for Europe after a two year struggle against bankruptcy and relegation. They have to win and will probably grab us by the throat.
Whatever happens - I just look forward to a nice game of football. We have nothing to win (or to lose) so let's just go out and have some fun.
See you later today in this very thread!

You can't seriously mean that if you followed him this season. You can claim that he's talented at the very best. But fantastic...? Two words: Tel Aviv...ZoefdeHaas schreef:Stekelenburg is fantastic!
We will not get Jansen. He committed to Vitesse. He signed a new deal and will not leave this summer. Heitinga had quite a good game as a right fullback yesterday, but still: it's not his position. Even if he's Blind's first man for that position we still need another (real) right fullback as back-up.And Heitinga on the right isn't too bad, if we do get Jansen on the left we can be formidable. :eusa_dance:
My shopping list would be:
- 1 striker (Rosenberg?)
- (at least) 1 'pitbull' type midfielder (Davids?)
- 1 right fullback
- 1 left fullback
Our two guys in the centre (Grygera and Escudé, hopefully) are not the Chivu type: they won't storm out of the defense with the ball at their foot and cross the entire midfield to put pressure on the opponent. Therefore, we will require two fullbacks with offensive qualities (that's right, just like Trabelsi and Maxwell). Heitinga...? Naah, not really.

I know of a certain Mr. O'Brien that would have fit that description pretty well... :rocketwhore:Kowalczyk schreef:- 1 left fullback
