What's the Royal League? Sounds like some sort of pan-Scandinavian thing, is that right?

The four best clubs of Denmark, Sweden and Norway meet each other in the Royal League IIRC....

The four best clubs of Sweden, Denmark and Norway are qualified to the Royal League (this was the first year they had it). It starts right after the Swedish and Norwegian leagues end in autumn. The purpose of the RL is that the teams will get some non-friendly games during the long off-season. Royal League has now reached it's end, with only the final remaining between IFK Göteborg and FC Köpenhamn.

The tournament has been everything but a success this far, attendence wise anyway. It's cold up here in winter time and people don't seem to like watching football when it's snowing. But I have a feeling it will get better if they keep having it. It's much nicer than watching pre-season friendlies anyway. It also brings in some extra millions to the clubs. There's also some rivalty between the countries and their best clubs, and hopefully it will get even more prestigious in the future.

AsgAarD_xxx schreef:And now some bad news  . Andy van de Meyde told, that he doesn't want to leave Inter this season, because he is happy with his co-operation with Roberto Mancini. He told, that he has a contract 'til 2007 and he will stay there 'til 2007... So (if that is no rumor) it is not possible, that he will join us next season  .
In what way is that bad news?

Oh, you ment for Inter :D
Why do you build me up? BUTTERCUP!

Ajax is still the number one for Markus ?
Not Per, but I'll give you a short version of the story.

Aftonbladet reports that Ajax have now offered about 8 million for Rosenberg (we're talking Zlatan money here now), but Rosenberg manager says nothing is done and that nothing will happend coming week. Four cluds were watching Roseberg in Malmö's last game: Ajax, Feyenoord, Arsenal and Schalke 04.

If Ajax are gonna win this one, the transfer fee is probably gonna be somewhere around 6-8 million. It's a lot of money for this young striker with no real international experience. But he sure has the talent, and I guess Ajax is the club where he could get the most out of it; and he knows that as well. I think he'll choose Ajax, even if the other clubs could come up with more money.

We should remember that these are only rumores, and probably nothing more. But yeah, that's what the story says.

I have a good friend in Sweden that has seen Markus play, and he personally thought he isnt worth the money, if it were to be more than 3 million

I must say I'm a little split here. If we're signing Marcus Rosenberg we'll get a talented and very good forward, no doubt. If he can develop in a good club he could just be the next big thing from Sweden. But we are also talking about a very high amount of money here, if these rumores are true. € 8 million is almost as much as Ajax paid for Zlatan, and Rosenberg is no new Zlatan.

I hope we'll win the race, but I also hope we can get him for a little less money. Rosenberg wants to go to Ajax. He doesn't want to go to a club in the top three leagues and warm the bench for a couple of seasons. Ajax probably knows all of this too. I think the club should play this game a little cool, and we might save ourselves a few millions too.

The latest news on the transferfee is that 5 mil € is the fee and the rest is salary.
Still a lot of money, but more in balance with the market.

From what I understand it's still € 8 million, but the difference from, for example the Zlatan buy, is that Rosenberg has a manager which Zlatan didn't. What Aftonbladet reported was that Rosenberg himself would get about 2-3 million as a sign-on fee or something, and the rest would go to Malmö FF. So it's the same amount of money, only different allotment.

The fee the player insists on getting when if he was to sign for Ajax , I'm guessing ;)

Everton are talking to Inter Milan about bringing Andy Van der Kilbane to Liverpool - so that's one less thing for Ajax fans to worry about.

Edgar Davids

Bericht door Kowalczyk » ma mei 16, 2005 9:25 am

All of a sudden there are Edgar Davids report everywhere... Reportedly, Blind will talk to him this week and he is expected by many to come to an agreement with Ajax.

There's nothing on the more reliable, 'official' news sites yet, but the footie sites all seem to run it as news now...

@ Purple Cow (re: Van der Meyde): Everton... thank God.

K.
Davids would be my first choice in the 'new players department'. His experience and fighting spirit would be the most important addition to our squad.

Of course we could use some other reinforcements as well, but Davids would be an excellent start on the silly season. We all saw what a bit of experience did to the PSV squad this year...

There's a clear line in that Italian report that states that they're merely reporting on a Dutch rumour.

I only know of another ex-Ajacied who will return to Amsterdam this summer, but that's not Davids.

That said, I'm not saying he won't, but I haven't heard anything yet.
